    I just saw another video that they put in a kit that replaced all 3 of those flex pipes with stainless mesh ones that are supposed to be far less problematic.

      Stick with oem. This sled is a 2010 and has 14,500km on it and this was the first time it needed attention.

      I did the kit with the mesh. Took some time to get them on right, but once in, working great so far (though only about 2000 km).

    Where is the battery located on the 2009 Yamaha (Nitro)?? I see in this video it appears to be on the right side? Just for info how do you get the seat off? We have one that belonged to my husband's deceased brother and we need to get it out of our storage place, but the battery is dead and it has been in there for a couple of years.

      The battery is under the right side cover. To remove the seat, you need to take a couple of the panels off on either side of the muffler and then remove the bolts that hold it on.

    When you slid the exhaust back to get at Donuts and manifold pipes did you have to drill rivits or did it have enough play to slide back??

    • @rippinmachines
      @rippinmachines  2 года назад

      didn't have to drill the rivets. Just removed the two Allen bolts with an allen key on a socket wrench. Then it slides back. People who can't get the bolts out have to drill the rivets out.

      @@rippinmachines yep, ran into that on my apex, I replaced them with a proper bolt and lots of anti cease... had to weld nuts on the allen head bolts, what a silly design...

      @@rippinmachineswell I'm there now! Drilled both apex and replaced with hex heads for next time. Damn. I have to remove exhaust anyway it's cracked where the three go in to one. I'll get it welded

    You’ve got an extra belt on top of your belt guard, did you fabricate that? I have to stuff my extra belt in the hood. Your setup is better.

    • @rippinmachines
      @rippinmachines  Год назад +1

      I didn't like not having a tidy way to store my spare belt so I ordered two aluminum belt holders used on a yamaha vector, drilled two holes and riveted them on. Yamaha part # 8CR-77338-00-00 and your choice of aluminum rivet.

    How many Kms on your nytro

    • @rippinmachines
      @rippinmachines  2 года назад

      I returned the copper ones and went OEM. I agree, didn't want to put the wear on the more expensive parts like the y pipe and flex pipes. Sled has 14,500kms and still looks and works very well.

    • @GnarlyChicken
      @GnarlyChicken 2 года назад

      Once you replace ur own donuts w copper, you’ll never need to replace again. I installed the full Hindle Power Kit in mine, which removes those weak flex pipes too.

    • @rippinmachines
      @rippinmachines  2 года назад

      @@GnarlyChicken I bought copper but ended up returning them and putting an OEM one on the flex pipe I swapped out. I didn't go with copper because I was concerned the harder material may put stress on the expensive titanium header.

      @@rippinmachines this does not shift the wear. Coppers will cause you no problem

      @@666dynomax fair enough. I decided to stick with OEM gaskets. I don't mind having to do it again in a few years if I still own it / it needs them.
