Cheers for the comment. I was starting to wonder if it was just something that bothers me. I guess my desire for instant throttle response and NO slack in the throttle comes from my racing days :)
Thanks for this one Campbell! I’m looking at getting the ‘22 -‘23 CB500x as my second bike, or the Triumph 400x, or any other great bike under$10,000, for my commute to gigs around NZ, so this is really helpful, thank you! (Ben).
You are more than welcome and massive thanks for your comment :) I haven't ridden the CB500X yet, so I don't know how different the NX is. You'll definitely get a good price on a second-hand one. New prices on remaining CB500X have come down, so that should shift all prices new and second-hand :) Good luck finding that special bike. So much to choose from in this price range now.
You are correct, AND incorrect. You are correct that All new motorcycles must have ABS - that is across most, or all markets. You are incorrect about the switchability of ABS to an OFF position (Front and Rear). If having ABS always activated on the front, or requirements that make turning off the ABS an annoying and complicated menu dive, then the T7 would be banned in most, or all markets, along with a number of other Adventure bikes. Manufacturers should enable ABS to switch off easily for those who want this. If everyone boycotted new bikes until they acquiesced to this demand, I guarantee it would be sorted by the next model release. If the Chinese gave us switchable ABS on all their ADV bikes, the Western and Japanese manufacturers would have to do this immediately to avoid bankruptcy. Cheers for your comment. CAM FROM NZ :)
I guess not all the "road riders" that design a road bike look like an Adventure bike have ever actually ridden a Bike on anything other than Tarmac... I have the ABS issue with My V-strom 250SX. it has caused near disaster quite a few times with it not letting the bike even slow down. But as pulling fuses solves this problem, I have ordered a Pitbike Killswitch to put on the handlebars, and 2.8mm spade connectors to go in the fuse holder, It will have fuses in line, but I will be able to switch it off at will, and remove it all without trace later. 47 horse should do skids... the 250SX with 26hp does when you open the throttle and let it go up to 7K where it has the power to break traction and shoot to 11K in 3rd (Pirelli MT60, soon to be replaced by a ready & waiting set of E-07+, so may not happen with 3 X the tread depth & more aggressive tread pattern) Being over 6 foot, No I'm not going to fit bra risers... I'm going to take the rubber pads off the foot pegs so the knees can be more comfortable when sitting, and have the same effect as raising the bars when standing.
Nice. Any weirdness removing the fuse? A lot of bikes have lots of stuff that stops working when you do this.. No dash, speedo etc... If I bought the cfmoto 450, I'd definitely want to fully disable both ends of the abs.
I didn't find it at all cramped sitting. I do like a bit more standing room though. It has more legroom than the cfmoto. You could get a bit more leg room, by adding foam to the seat and getting some lower pegs. Bound to be super cheap and easy options. But, I thought it was fine.
Good review. One of the best on this bike, & I’ve seen a few. Keep going !
Thanks mate. Great to have the support
Great review as usual Cam, obviously I agree 100% with your thoughts on ABS and TC 💩 I'd have one of those for getting around, any day 🤙 cheers
Cheers Josh. It is a pretty good bike. I think the tc light goes off after a while if it is on. I think the tc off light stays on... Maybe... Lol
Awesome review - i struggled on that Whatipu road on my mt03 when it was wet but that looked fun
Cheers Adam, hope your holidays are going well :)
great review. Most reviews shit me because they don't get into the stuff that matters - well done
Thanks heaps. Most of the nx500 reviews I watched on RUclips sucked. I'm glad you found this useful
Nice review Cam, I am like you , I don't like slacky slop in my throttle.

Every bike must come with abs now in Canada must be legal reasons they don't have the ability to turn off.

I have an mt09 and only use traction control when leaned over - otherwise it is pointless for me. Even in the rain and riding on loose over hard

Good idea about the bra risers with your size.
Maybe your wife or girlfriend can use them? 😂😂😂
Well rounded bike, and great looking to boot. What's not to like about it? :-)
My thoughts exactly :)
seems a big cramped for leg position

@@actstuntcam ok mate, good to know, cheers
