I bought an NX 500 back in March. In my opinion it's a fantastic bike . For what it is, I cannot fault it in any way. I don't understand the loud exhaust thing.......?????? Why take a perfectly quiet bike, that runs well, and waste money on a louder exhaust? I would argue that there is not enough, if any, performance gain to justify the cost. In many cases you lose low to mid range power for some slight increase in top end power where you probably spend less that 1% of your time in the saddle at those high RPMs. The bigger complaint is this, when you ride by houses which are close to the road, maybe children playing in the front yard, people enjoying lunch or dinner at a roadside table, or late at night and driving past homes with their windows open, you are robbing your fellow citizens and neighbors of their peace and quite. It's really narcissistic to simply add a loud exhaust so you can enjoy a sound that annoys other people. Secondly, I would argue that an aftermarket exhaust end can is the biggest waste of money that you can spend on your motorcycle. Windscreens, seats, braided brake lines, and suspension are all areas which improve your motorcycle in way you can feel. I currently have a garage full of bikes, from an NSR250SP to an ST1300, including a 2024 NX500. All of them have stock exhausts. I have changed the pipes on my 2 stoke dirt bikes to effect the power curve, which is a real thing on 2 strokes, but run the stock end can so it doesn't add noise. You didn't buy your CB/NX500 for the power. Your loud end can arguably didn't add any power. In fact you likely lost power in the low to mid range area. So what am I missing about this loud exhaust craze? Is it "look at me" "look at my cool bike" that is driving this craze?
