I wish I could like this a million times. I miss CGC so much and Kamehameha Kapālama will miss Kumu Julian Ako. He has done so much for the School and for the students.
Mahalo nui for sharing this performance by the Kamehameha Concert Glee Club. As Holunape, we enjoyed recording this song given to us by Mr. Ako. That is how we addressed him in school and for the most part, unless he insists, we still call him by that today. The imagery he uses in the song, He 'Olu, really captures the essence of the place and also conveys the feelings set by Dr. Michael J. Chun and his wife Bina Chun when one visits their home. We tried to capture that in our recording and we can hear that Kumu Zach Lum and his haumana feel the same way about this special home in this performance. This will always be one of my favorite songs I have ever sung and recorded. Mahalo for sharing. Aloha...
