I'm old now, I grew up without a father. My dad attempted so many times to be with me and my brother. He's unable to be there for us mainly because of my mother's family. At the age of 13, I started smoking, 15 started taking drugs. I was suicidal too. Always angry at anyone. I was also physically abused by my uncle, my mother's brother in law to where she left us so she can work abroad. I grew up feeling so alone and noone to turn to. I still hate them, as a matter of fact I never visit them cause everytime I tried to, the hurt and anger starts coming back. I still cry from time to time, I still think of ending everything. But the will to stay alive is stronger than the latter now all because of a program I went through to fight my addiction.

I am a father. My son is 17 years old. He does not want to see me or talk to me anymore. The mother says that the other man in the home is more a father than I am. I have not been in his life every day. I have to take what is given by the Court. My question: how important am I as a father to my son? Am I as a father count in his life? Do I as a father matter in his life? All that was taken away from me from the mother of the child and from the Court. All that need to be changed in Court. I live in Madison, Wisconsin.
