I am a professional cake decorator. I use plunge cutter to create fondant shapes for my cakes. They wash up easily in soapy water. I think cookie dough would also dissolve off of them easily. The writing pen is just a gimmick. It's easy to learn to control a piping bag and it gives superior results. Food color pens get 5/5 from me. They are not for everything but for specific jobs, your option would be a paint brush and liquid food color. Personally, I use an apple corer on my cup cakes.
Baker here. I use those cookie cutters for actual cookies, and I have to say, dissolving of cookie dough in soapy water HIGHLY depends on the recipe. However, I've also found coating a bit of flour before cutting the shape out helps the dough not stick. I'm a huge fan of those decorating pens too, especially since I'm not great at decorating. Any time someone asks me to pipe out "happy birthday", I use a pen. 😂
I own the corer and use it a lot. I core all the cupcakes at the same time and put the "corks" in a bowl, then fill all the cupcakes and last put the corks back in (with my fingers - I don't put them back into the corer). Unlike a paring knife you can't go too deep, and you get really consistent results. Also you can take just the crust part of the "cork" if you have put more filling. Jam, pudding, and pie filling work really well to fill cupcakes. Yellow cake, vanilla pudding in the middle, and chocolate frosting makes a Boston cream pie cup cake. The plunger can be popped out for washing.
Love the shot of Dan licking the pen and leaving black streaks on his tongue. Also yes, the crew appreciates food. Bit disappointing the frosting pen didn't work better, most people I feel would like something easier than an icing bag.
As someone who regularly uses their mouth as a third hand, seeing Dan use them in a "kitchen setting" was quite upsetting for me. I love your videos are great, but please remember us lefties! Things can be designed for both. Usually though, it never is. The rare times they make a left handed version, it cost 5 times more money. Remember us!
I don't think I like the decorating pens for one simple reason: THEY LOOK LIKE THE MARKERS I HAVE AT MY DRAWING STATION! Way too easy for a child to confuse the two types of pens and color on food with the non-edible ink. As for a redesign, I would make the pen shafts triangular, so they fit better in the hand, with a slight concave arc along the length of the pen. This would make it easier to hold, and having the body flair at the ends a little would provide something to push back to keep them from sliding much.
I think the animal cookie cutter spring should be pressed after taking out the dough base. This way it would be easier taking the shaped cookie out than taking cookie out from a whole dough base.
It would have been fun if Dan baked a big sheet of cookie with icing, and then used the Edible Ink Markers to draw his redesign ideas on it. Then eat it.
You know, the man gets why I hate the cupcake corer. Yes, I serves a very specific purpose and does it well. But I also don't feel like cupcakes need to be filled
The pens are also more value for cooking with kids. You make some cookies and ice them then the kids can do their own designs without the mess of a kid using a piping bag.
no, the left handed test isn't only for check leftie-ness, its also his non-dominate hand and the real point of the oil+leftie test is to see if someone with arthritis-weak grip - maybe a missing point digit so they don't fully clasp/exert pressure in the optimal way can use the devices easily. In this video he didn't repeat it thoroughly but in most videos from this series he re-explains that every time.

Your meant to put the cake shaper inside bigger cake pan not just on the oven tray
So holds shape better
Wouldn't still be the same problem of it spreading though?
"I like it, Picasso "
3 goes into the bin, the 2 cookie ones goes onto the sell shelf.
You know, the man gets why I hate the cupcake corer. Yes, I serves a very specific purpose and does it well. But I also don't feel like cupcakes need to be filled
I would put wires into the kitchen forms rim to make them keep shape.
the plunge cookie cutters remind me of mooncake molds
At 4:27 the icing pen took a dump!
The pens are also more value for cooking with kids. You make some cookies and ice them then the kids can do their own designs without the mess of a kid using a piping bag.
Are you asking for a left handed pen? You're a madman
no, the left handed test isn't only for check leftie-ness, its also his non-dominate hand and the real point of the oil+leftie test is to see if someone with arthritis-weak grip - maybe a missing point digit so they don't fully clasp/exert pressure in the optimal way can use the devices easily. In this video he didn't repeat it thoroughly but in most videos from this series he re-explains that every time.
I think this man needs to watch a few episodes of Cupcake Wars 😂
where can I buy the push cookie cutters? the cookies look adorable!!! OwO
If they cut this series because viewership is declining, I swear, I will never forgive y’all. 😐
There was an episode 8 days ago but isn't on the playlist a long with a bunch of other recent episodes.
