I really like how "small" producers like you are providing very high quality content than the more known channels which, usually, seem to just read from the specification sheet, making a video out of it (like a commercial). But you really give valuable information to us, comparing to other cars and also mentioning what you like and what you don't... hands on experience. Thank you very much for the great work!

Quite impressive, unfortunately in my country (Poland) the infrastructure is like 8 years behind Norway - most 'fast' chargers do not exceed 50 kW, those over 100 kW are just a few nationwide (probably in one Korean shopping centre you'll find more), so for this part of Europe that 800V architecture is a song of the future. We still care more about the battery capacity and car efficacy than the speed of charging, since most people charge their EV's at home. Nevertheless, things are getting better and hopefully in a couple of years we will have more of those high power monsters as well. Great test as always, man!

You should make the official time 9:99.
And if you have any influence you should try to get the car industry talking about frontal area, focusing on only drag coefficient is getting ridiculous. They are basically trying to sell you the Hindenburg while bragging about its 0.07 Cd.

@@Conservator. Incorrect. For example there are trucks with a better cw than some cars. Teslas are so efficient because they have both: A small projected front area and a very good cw. Always easy for me to spot my Model S in a car park: Its the lowest (and the most beautiful) car in the lot. Drag = cw * A and reduced drag is important and that is why this cw advertisement by itself is almost meaningless.

Hyundai really made a horrible mistake not letting Bjørn lend the car for more than 29 hours. Some people will not buy the car because of some of these tests. First the 120 km/t range test in the rain, and now 1000 km challenge on half wet roads. This is just bad PR from Hyundai, they should have given Bjørn the car for a week.

The EV6 is also lower which reduces the frontal area. The downside is that at 5'9" my head hits the roof in the back. The Ioniq 5 has a lot more room inside because of the height, and the rear seats being able to move forward. Unless you don't plan on putting adults in the back, go for the Ioniq 5.

Cracking video Bjørn, it does show the benefit Ionity chargers offer over other suppliers. What I would likened know is how much that journey cost in comparison to the Supercharger network or say Circle-K. I think in Germany for 260KWh, It would of cost about 96€ on the Open Network it would be 125€ and on the Ionity Premium Tarif it would be about 75€ and 88€ if you wanted to add the 13€ monthly subscription price.
To me this shows Hyundai are really trying to keep the cost to drive as low as they can. It will be interesting rinsed if they EV6 from Kia will be faster.

Consumption is actually very good. This car is very efficient and in Tests also best the model y by up to 5kwh/100km !
Things not considered by most when testing is that the Ioniq is able to mechanically decouple the front motor for even higher efficiency. The only thing where it uses more is at speeds starting above 130kmh because of its exterior design. But as 130 is the speed limit for most countries it sits right there on top with the others but beats them at speeds of 100kmh. Sweet spot would probably be 120kmh

@@au18ert Exactly, I was planning on spraying some water repellent on the back window too. No problem with droplets what so ever.
I think most colors Hyundai is offering are a bit boring but the black is really awesome in my opinion especially the high trim that gives better contrast with the grey around the wheels. On lower trims they are more blackish.
I’m gonna leave the H’s on. Have no problems with those.

It might sound petty but I actually took this of my list of potential next cars because of the lack of wiper/washer in the back. No way I can live with that during winter here in Sweden. And before the fan boys scream that is has a camera instead, that is going to be all dirty in the winter too.
There is no excuse for this, and it seems ridiculous as a cost saving thing also. Real sad tbh, I was hyped for this car.

It seems the aerodynamics simply kills the efficiency in this car at higher speeds. As I've pointed before, this car should be equipped with a battery of 80kWh or larger in order to compensate for increased consumption. Otherwise its highway range is lower than e-Niro. But otherwise it looks like a very practical car. Cannot wait to see EV6 tested.

    • @karlin_oriley
      @karlin_oriley 3 года назад

Lol, 80kwh battery has more weight, too.. So more efficiency loss.

The missing wiper blade is just a design failure. They should have added a wiper blade as it is a hatchback or at least come up with an aerodynamic spoiler that blows the rain away.

10:50 it would have helped to include air inlets to allow air to pass through the front wheel wells. That high Cd is to me the only big let down of the car (second is not getting the 77.4 kWh battery they're getting in the USA). Still pretty happy to get the car in september...

    eff(wh/km) is ultra low,
(lower than model x lr raven)
but, charging speed is ultra fast.

is that really good for "the normal" driver who did not drive over 50km/day ?

Great video as always. Currently I run IONIQ 2020 and I'm thinking about upgrading to IONIQ 5. It seems from your videos that I'd need ideally to have access to 200kW chargers. Yet chargers here in the UK are nowhere near as good or as prolific as you seem to have in Norway. So much so, I've never charged my IONIQ other than at home. I'm on my 3rd IONIQ currently - I really like them. Just a pity that the uk is so poor on charging infrastructure.

Honestly how big of a bother is the missing rear wiper? I really wish it was there as a hidden wiper in the rear wing instead of a spoiler?
I've seen you can check the rear cam while driving but that seems a little iffy to navigate the menu at high speeds.
