Many thanks Bjorn. I loved that soundtrack and the car isn’t bad either. 😆😆😆😆 It looks like the car is efficient as you were getting a consumption rate as good as my Corsa at 10 mph slower and 7 deg C warmer outside. Awesome…
I hope the seats is better now. The old Kona the seat comfort was so bad. Even in Zoe the seats was miles better than Kona. Must try the new Kona soon.
I have a 2022 e-208 and when it is cold outside, but the battery is nice and warm during fast charging and the heating is on it will dump far too much waste heat into the cabin making it too warm. Solution: switch on the A/C button, that way it can properly manage the amount of heat pumped into the cabin. Usually while driving I turn the A/C button off if cooling is not needed, it still runs the compressor as heat pump. Not sure what the A/C button actually does in that situation, maybe it doesn't do anything at all.
Interesting. In cars with heat pumps for heating. I'm assuming that there is not a separate AC. As AC is just a heat pump that is set up to only cool. There could be two heat pumps, one to heat and one to cool but that's probably inefficient. It is more likely they have a single one that can alternate between delivering heat or cooling.
Not sure why but my Canadian model (top trim) doesn’t have the power lift gate and is missing the AC plug 2:05. Was disappointed that they also removed the rear heated seats.
I just decided to keep mine, I'm quite happy with it. I had a UK mid range version that they called premium. SE being lowest and premium SE being highest (confusingly). Try and get a top spec version for LED lights, heated seats. My version came with a heat pump which is great too. My battery still reads 100% health through the app Bjorn uses at 3 years old and 33k miles ( take with a pinch of salt). But no range loss etc .
I really like the new Kona, it looks very cool. I bought the Ioniq 6, but the new Kona would actually be an option for me ... if I would not prefer a sedan over a SUV-like car.
Does the new Kona have a speed warning offset(So you can set it to +5 over speed limit before it warns you), and if yes, does it remember the setting next time you start the car?
Nice one again, Bjørn. The Kona seems to be a nice car, and still on my list. You mentioned something about soundproofing not beeing that good. How does the Kona compare to VW ID3 or Citroën ë-C4 for instance? What car to buy, ID3, Kona or ë-C4?
Good to know that you don't need to be jealous of the new konas charging speed. 20 mins off an 11 hour journey isn't worth the money of buying a new car vs buying out my PCP deal on my 2020 Kona. Interior much better though. I'll be jealous of that instead.
It depends on the price, i would definitely prefer a LFP Model 3 if the price is not much higher. Especially if this will be available with Blade Battery.
It’s strange that you can’t use the auxiliary power when charging. After all that’s the mos likely tim that you would be wanting it wile you’re waiting.
25:35 It actually could be that the microwave created too much EMC for the handshake to work. A microwave creates massive amounts of elctric noise that could actually interfere with the components making the connection. Would be nice to test out if this is the case, I am very curious because I am only geussing at this moment.
But the other charging session on the same charger was not affected at all? And when I use the microwave other places during charging, no issues at all.

Nice video again Bjorn. I drive the old Kona still but will switch to the new Volvo XC40 RWD MY2024. Any chance you will test that in the future? They are comparable now I think.
The DAW (Driver Attention Warning) system is horrible, irritating and actively distracting (often when you can least afford to be distracted). And it cannot be turned off. (Yes, I have gone to the dealer and they confirmed that it cannot be turned off and that it is working as designed). On winding roads or in fog or a snow-storm, it will beep loudly at you every 4 minutes. Other than this anti-feature, it is a fantastic vehicle.
I have the old one. But in the Netherlands the new one is the same price as Model Y and it’s still only 100kW max. So no way I will buy this over the Model Y.
Great video Bjorn - I drove a new Kona Ev on 17 inch alloys and it is very very smooth riding however SR Tesla 3 is the same price I will probably choose the SR Tesla - have you carried out a range test of the SR HIghland yet ? Love to hear your opinion on Model 3 - hard to overlook the Kona through - no rattles, trim fit a finish excellent also on Kona
I have a 64kWh 2020 Kona. I wouldn't buy this new one. It's bigger then mine and i don't need it. I bought the Kona back then because it was smaller then the Niro. I drive the car alone, i don't need more space on the backseats or bigger trunk. I could select the smaller tires, but now i would get it with the bigger one. The range would be 6% less. Yes the charging speed is a little better, but i charge the car allways (99%) at home. Inside the car, there is no sunglasses holder. Much less space for store my stuff. I like my unique style gear selector, now it's common.
I would love to a see comparison test video FWD (Kona/Niro/Ariya) and RWD EVs (too many to mention) in the snow!....seems that Norway would be a great place to see how they handle in the deep snow and ice. Did I just spot an EASEE EV charger in Bjørn's garage? Good to see the charger I chose for my house be Bjørn-approved! Already works like a charm here in Germany with the CleverPV service to charge my cars with solar power for 2/3 of the year and I can't wait to take advantage of flexible prices with Tibber from late October to early March!

I had major issues with 2019 Kona charging bugging out, especially at Mer (Delta chargers), but also IONITY, occasionally. I suspect vibrating liquid cooled cables are especially susceptible with Kona. I tried complaining but the Mobile dealership was hard to work with. I could not confidently leave the car alone while charging. I guess it is very varied what people actually encounter. If you charge e.g. 4 times in one trip, and you do the trip a few times a year, then the likelihood of these problems are much higher. In the end I got rid of the Kona in favor of a Model 3.

In Germany a full loaded Kona (same options as a standard Tesla) with 65kWh battery is around 55.000€, same price as Tesla Model Y long range. With only 100kW peak charging rate I won’t recommend it.
More improvements are: Trailer hitch, 230V AC power supply and V2device adapter. But, its to expensive for what you get. Front wheel drive and slow fast charging. Better buy a rear wheel drive, 58kWh Ioniq5.
My wife has driven her 30kWh SoulEV for 45kkm now and never needed to fast charge. So fast charging may not matter at all for some people, particularly with this kind of winter range. This is still 30cm shorter than an Ioniq 5, so considerably smaller and easier to park. That may be an advantage for some. While the 77kWh Ioniq 5 is quite reasonably priced in its segment, the 58kWh version is not much cheaper. I was originally intending to get the 58kWh Ioniq, but that's much slower and considerably less range, so I got the 77kWh instead. That's the Problem with less expensive EVs, rhey are always too expensive by comparison. So I think the Kona is the better deal than the 58kWh Ioniq 5, unless charging speed and/or the extra space really matter. If it's about charging speed, you should get the 77kWh Version in the first place, because that charges a fair bit faster. If it's about space alone, then maybe the 58kWh Ioniq 5 could be an alternative.
