Two years ago I started to chop up (using the same chopper that you have, lol) onions, green and red peppers, celery and carrots and put individually in zip lock bags in my freezer. I usually do 6 or 8 of each: onions and peppers, a large bag of celery and carrots. I will usually do one veggie on a slow afternoon. This way I usually always have chopped veggies on hand and it saves a lot of time!
I always have chopped onion, bell pepper & celery in the freezer & it really simplifies cooking. Have never frozen carrots, but will definitely try them now!

Steven’s face after the squirt was everything 😂😂 that was soooo funny….plus the outburst of laughter when you slowed the replayed down. The squirt would have turned me off.
28:14 in some countries it's considered an insult to the cook if you don't burp after eating. Mandy's Tamale Supreme for the third dish. I like the idea of stuffing crusted chicken. Gonna definitely make that one. That would be great on pork chops too! Maybe even salmon. All the recipes, as always, look so yummy. Sweet little Gracie, it's tough getting old. We all love all of you.💗💞
Your mom's brown rice is one of my favorite rice dishes ever. I've sent multiple friends to your videos and website to get the recipe and they all love it! Only negative is that I keep having trouble finding the consommé. Next time I see it I'm going to stock up.

Hi Mandy. I make a casserole almost just like this. I call it Harvest Casserole. I have been making this since was 18 and I am now 69. This was a favorite of my late husband Tim. His sister gave me the recipe. I love to have Coleslaw with it. I love your channel and I try not to miss a episode. You are a great cook. I love the love you share with your sweet husband and son. God Blessings for you and your family🥰🙏
Laying a wooden spoon or other wooden utensil across the top of an open pot, will keep it from boiling over. Don't know the science of how/why it works, but it does!!

Girl... you're crackin me up with the clean spoon... you know 90% of these people get their secondhand tastin all up in the food. That's part of the love. Thanks for the inspiration as always!!
You have no idea how valuable your videos are for people like me who absolutely hate figuring out what to make. I used to tell my family to tell me what you want and I will make it. Thank you so so much.
I make a similar dish like the last one and call it Tex-Mex Cornbread Casserole. Also if you lay a spoon across your pot it should keep your pasta from boiling over, it doesn't necessarily need to be a wooden spoon. I use my silicone spoons and it works well too. I just don't boil my pasta on a high temperature, after the water starts boiling I turn it down to medium. I hope this helps you. Have a blessed weekend! 💕
I've made that brown rice before and it's delicious. I currently have the cubed cube steaks in the crockpot for tonight's dinner...it's smelling so good in my house. All 3 pantry meals sound really good. 😋 I loved Steven's face when the chicken squirted 😂

Name for the last dish… Spicy Hamburger Cornbread I really enjoyed this video! You cook like so many of us non fancy, just trying to feed our families, kind of people which sets you apart from many of the other cooking sites I watch! I went to save this in my favorites and ended up making a new playlist called Mandy’s Cooking! 😊 If I had more energy tonight I’d make the Spicy Hamburger Cornbread cause I have all the ingredients… but sadly it’s Friday and I’m pooped! Tomorrow night it is definitely on my to do list!
Here in New Mexico, your last dish would almost be called Tamale Pie but you used Salsa Verde rather than the traditional red sauce used in Tamale Pie. Maybe you could call yours “ Salsa Verde Tamale Pie”.
You are so right about figuring out something different to cook to different. I am 69 years old and have been cooking since I was 10. I had my children way back in 1985 and a987 so I have been cooking for my family for a very long time. now find it so hard to find something good to eat and I've been searching the internet, my many cookbooks and some youtube channels but often those recipes include stuff I don't have or even tried and don't think I would like. Every night has become a huge struggle to find something new to cook. I get tired of always cooking the same old stuff. Since finding your channel you have inspired me to try some of your recipes. They always look so good.
I would call your dish, Mexican, cornbread pie. Thank you Mandy for another great video you never disappoint. I pray for your family, that your family be blessed, spiritually, physically, and financially.
Just have to say, u all are the cutest couple. I keep different pastas on hand. They always come in handy Mandy, for quick meals. Thank you for the ideas. I always k ow where to go when I need new ideas. God bless.
My grandma would make something close to this. Instead of salsa she used tomato sause and calles it Almo Pie. The filling would be amazing for burritos from either recipe.
I chop extra onions, put them on a Dollar Tree small cookie sheet & spread them out in a single layer, 1 hr later, put them in a zip lock bag & that way I cn get small amount or as much as I want at one time.
Nooooooooo, never put oil in the water for the pasta! 😮 the oil will prevent any sauces to ‘stick’ or ‘absorb’ to the pasta! Put a wooden spoon over the pot while the pasta is cooking, that will prevent the boil over 🙂. Also, you’re supposed to put a very generous amount of salt into the water as well. 💜🌸💜 greetings from Florida!
Correct, do not add oil to the boiling water for pasta. I am a New Yorker, and adding oil will prevent your sauce, whichever kind of sauce you may be using, from adhering to your pasta. Which is why you never rinse your pasta when you are making a hot Italian Dish. You need the starch
Your family is awesome! Started watching your videos just shy of 2 years ago. Can't miss them! I too believe :"a recipe is a guideline." Name for your dish: Nocho Average Taco Pie 😂.
Ran short on time last night, so made the Jiffy Mex Casserole!! It turned out great, and hubby liked it! I asked him if he wants it in the "supper rotation" and he said YES!! It helped me use up a couple of opened jars of salsa!! We also like to take a couple of cans of chili (or can use homemade), put in a baking dish, and top it with the Jiffy cornbread, and bake until the chili is heated through, and cornbread topping is baked through. Delicious quick supper!! :-) Thanks for all the great recipe ideas!!
Steven’s face when you just threw together the pasta salad 😅! Thank you for your videos, positive and upbeat content and occasional banter with Steven. Your marriage seems so genuine and joyful!
CORNBREAD PIE👍 This is similar to tamale pie. I make mine with hamburger, onion, Rotel tomatoes, corn and a can of olives topped with cornbread. If you sprinkle a little sugar on top of the cornbread before you bake, it adds a little crunchy top to it BUT it's not overly sweet.
To keep water from boiling over- lay a wooden spoon across top of water pan. Great meal for thrown together. God bless you from grandma Katie in Oregon
Everything looks delicious! I also chop and freeze celery because I don't use it fast enough before it spoils, oh and I made the Boursin cheese chicken recipe....sooo good
Mandy, I feel you made an awesome "pantry pull together" meal, you should do more of them. You know what goes together and how to make a great sauce! Keep up the great work! 🎉🎉🎉
Mandy, I LOVE PANTRY recipes! I think that last recipe should be called Tex-Mex Tamale Pie, bc its not just a Mexican flair but Texas too with the corn, and u definitely could add beans, but maybe Fritos if u have on hand for some crunch factor under the sweet cornbread. I love all these recipes & love the indoor Gardyn too. Steven, that squirting chicken was hilarious! Have a great weekend! 🙋♀️🌻🎃🍁🌄
"Scrap" meals are sometimes some of the best. But then they can never be replicated. One of the best soups I EVER made was literally made from leftover scraps from vegetable side dishes from 3 days suppers (creamed corn, seasoned green beans, seasoned pintos, roasted carrots, stewed potatoes with lots of butter.....you get the idea) and the au jus remnants from a roast I had frozen a few weeks earlier. There wasn't enough au jus, so I added a large bottle of V8 juice. Of course, salt pepper and other seasonings (sprinkle, taste, sprinkle, taste, so on, so forth....).Made a big pan of cornbread, sat down at the table, husband says, "Oh wow! This is so good! You can make this again!" I just give him the side eye, 🙄"Uh yeah. Oookaay.... if you like it you'd better savor every bite. Not likely to get this 'un again!"😂
Thank you, everyone for your prayers in the last video. My hubby isn't one who shows emotions that much and this has really hurt him. He hasn't shown it, but I can tell it's bothered him. Thank you, again.
I love the concept of this video!! It’s something I try to do often to use up stuff in my pantry and fridge!! Y’all should definitely make this a reoccurring segment!! I’m sure Steven could come up with a great name for it!! Love your channel Mandy!!❤️❤️
THIS is a video style you should do more of. I heard your struggle on stories to find new recipes, so helping to throw out ideas for all those items that we bought when we had good intentions to make a recipe is so very much needed.
Green chili tamale pie!! For the cornbread casserole thing! That’s what y’all should call it. It looks so good and I am totally making it for Sunday dinner this week. My sister and our families get together every week for Sunday dinner since most of the older people in our family have passed away we decided to make our own tradition just to keep family time alive for our kids. We are always looking for new recipes to keep our Sunday dinners fun and interesting! This looks like a winner!
Mandy, everything you make it taste so good it looks good on the plate and it looks good while you're cooking.! May I please suggest, leave your stuff in the bag your coating and go ahead season inside the bag and then throw your meat portions in the bag seal the top rolling around till everything's all coded and then proceed to cook. Less waste and clean up is easy throw it away. Love you and your family. God bless you all and have a wonderful weekend.
Y’all crack me up!! Steven, you remind me so much of Andy Griffith with some of the things you say and the way you say them. I’m from downstate NC and our TV pretty much stays on the Andy Griffith show. When I’m in the kitchen making one of Mandy’s recipes (which is ALL of the time) I’ll hear Andy say something and I can picture Steven. Mandy I have watched ALL of your videos and have made a LOT of them. Never been disappointed. I always look forward to your next video. Love ❤️ y’all!!
Miss Mandy, you and Steven are such a loving and fun couple with an adorable son. You are so blessed as we are to have you in our lives. Your shenanigans are so fun to watch and the recipes are amazing. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the giggles I get from watching the two of you and see the love between all of you. God bless you all and keep on keeping on. Thank you for sharing ❤️🙏🇺🇸
Tip: I buy onions and chop them in the chopper immediately after my trip to the grocery store to reduce waste and then freeze them in freezer bags. I buy peppers, carrots, and celery and do the same. Saves time and $$$$. :)

@@dmmrad54 , Thank you for sharing! The white part of the watermelon has always been my favorite. I’ll never understand why so many people discard it!!
Hi Mandy & Steve ! I was so impressed by the cube steak recipe. Absolutely loved it and your right you don’t need teeth to eat it. Definitely making it again . The pantry recipes look delicious too! The taco meal can be called taco shepherd pie. . Not original! I know . But that’s what it reminded me of . Have a. Blessed day!
Ok, I've learned the hard way (67now). Pampered chef ( which you love) has these stainless steel discs to put in your pots that keeps it from boiling over. Oil or butter keeps your sauces from sticking to your pasta. They work wonderful. Tip from a chef friend.
I have a tip for butter flying chicken. I take my chicken breast out of the freezer and let it defrost in the refrigerator 12 hours. At this point the chicken breast is half defrosted. Now you can stand it up on it’s side and it’s easier to cut. Put it back in the refrigerator to fully defrost. Hope that helps.
Genius idea coating the chicen with stuffing mix! While I've been cooiking for years, I still find your recipes *so* helpful. I'm looking forward to trying your brown rice, which is on thhe menu for tomorrow. While I will make it exactly like you do at some point, I want to try adding a can of mushroom soup to replace the beef stock (which may require adding a bit of the beef stock to compensate for the thickness of the mushroom soup). Years ago, I used to make a dish called Onion Mushroom Rice using Lipton Onion Mushroom Rice. However, I live in Canada and I can't get that up here any more. I can get it on Amazon, but it is disgustingly expensive so, your brown rice recipe made me want to try this. Thanks for all the great recipes and the entertainment! 😊😊
For that last recipe, we've always called it "Tamale Pie". It's a popular dish here in Texas, been eating it most of my life. So yummy! Also, have y'all tried the Herdez Cremosa sauces? Sooooo good! My fave is the roasted poblano! It's not only good by itself on things, but makes for a super yummy base to lots of dishes too!
Chef's point of view: When olive oil is put in the water the sauce won't stick to the pasta. So , my Italian family members don't use oil in pasta water, instead, we put a wooden spoon across the pot and keep thee simmer low. There is also the idea of a larer pot with more water. You guys do a great job !
I use onion and garlic in almost all recipes. I started buying a bag of already peeled garlic in my produce section. Then I keep it in the freezer and just take out how much I need. It thaws fast and is so easy.
a wooden spoon laid across the pot of boiling pasta water will keep it from boiling over. Also, in some cultures burping out loud is a sign of respect and that you enjoyed the meal.
I cut up several onions and put them in the freezer in Ziploc freezer bags I also cook a large pot of rice and section it off and put those in Ziploc bags and put in the freezer. I do these things because there's just me and this way I can just pull it out of the freezer when I need it because I buy a lot of onion at each time I shop so to prevent them from spoiling I chop them up and freeze them. I also freeze cherry tomatoes to use in a shrimp and baby spinach dish. 😊👩🦳💜 (Cornbread surprise?)
I allso cut different sizes onion and bag all different some chunky for stews , Some small.chop for soups ,hot dogs etc and some sliced I do same with carots ,turnip ect
Hey Mandy, I have to agree, I never know what I am making til the 4th ingredient. I always start with olive oil, onion, and garlic. Then the next ingredient tells me what I am making. I love all your recipes and have gotten my mother to watch you too.
When I get a good deal at the end of the season at the farmers market on onions and peppers, I make packs of them. I get small snack bags at Dollar Tree. They have measurements on the bag (up to 1 cup) and I freeze packs ready for onion. Either a mix of onions and peppers, or just plain onion. Works FANTASTIC! I don't have to worry about using it all before they go back and I am saving sooo much money. Of course certain meals you just need a "fresh"/non frozen veg, but otherwise I use them for everything from eggs to soups and hotdish.
Putting oil in your pasta water coats the pasta and keeps the sauce from sticking to the pasta. To prevent your pasta water from boiling over, place a wooden spoon across the top of your pan. I don't know why this works - something about the dispersment of the water. Love your channel!
I dice up my onions and freeze them. I live alone and so many onions were going bad on me. So I got a 2 gallon bag, then filled it up with smaller bags of onions. As I need them I get out a bag and throw it on the kitchen floor to break the frost and seperate them.
For years, I have marinated pork chops in that zesty italian. I will also add extra dressing to the skillet when I cook them to make a sauce. The dressing cooks down and gets sweet and tangy. So good! They are even better grilled.
I always enjoy your videos! You guys always works so well together and you are so cute! This recipe is MANDY'S MEXICAN PANTRY BOWL! Love y'all 😆❣ from Alabama
I have been binge watching your episodes. I am gluten free. I coated some chicen tenders from Costco in egg and then used a GF boxed stuffing from Aldi as the coating and air fried them tonight. OMGoodness! So good! My creation turned out FANTASTIC!
I do not use oil in the water. Alton Brown says the oil will stick to the pasta and then the sauce will not stick as well. Also the rougher the outside of your pasta the better the sauce will stick. I know it sounds nutty, but it is true. Next time you go to the store look at the texture of different pasta noodles in the box. That should also help the cheese stick better too. Your hubby should like that one. lol
Tip ; I do my chicken in a large ziplock bag crush what ever I'm using to coat with then toss chicken in till I put it in the pan . Oil tip is best for no boil over and my marble rolling pin comes in handy for more then just cooking also keeps husband's straight !Lol
Leaving a comment about the 3 new chicken recipes video..I made that Greek chicken and OH MY GOODNESS..that has to be in the top 3 best chicken recipes I've ever made! Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful dinner ideas with us. I can't wait to try some from this video!☺

Love all ur videos n yummy recipes Mandy, look forward to Stevens reaction when he tastes the food too. I told my husband that’s the ratings n specific details n expressions u need to give me when I cook , here on 😂
Rachel watching y’all in Corpus Christi Texas 🤗
Loved all of these yall are a hoot made me laugh
Name for the last dish… Spicy Hamburger Cornbread
I really enjoyed this video! You cook like so many of us non fancy, just trying to feed our families, kind of people which sets you apart from many of the other cooking sites I watch!
I went to save this in my favorites and ended up making a new playlist called Mandy’s Cooking! 😊
If I had more energy tonight I’d make the Spicy Hamburger Cornbread cause I have all the ingredients… but sadly it’s Friday and I’m pooped!
I use Zesty Italian dressing frequently, especially when grilling. I marinate pork chops or chicken in it for a couple hours in the frig. Oh SO good!
Marinate your grilled veggies/potatoes with it too!👍
Me too! Yummmmm
Will certainly give that a try!@@marciebaird2175
Me too!
God bless.
Girl! You already named it! It's your "Friday Night Lght" dinner!! ❤😁
LOL...that juicey chicken moment was priceless
Adding pesto to the pickup order! 🤗❤️ Great job Mandy!
Thanks girl!!
My grandma would make something close to this. Instead of salsa she used tomato sause and calles it Almo Pie. The filling would be amazing for burritos from either recipe.
Yes, I cook with onion and garlic pretty much with every meal! Great idea cooking with what is in your pantry/freezer!
I chop extra onions, put them on a Dollar Tree small cookie sheet & spread them out in a single layer, 1 hr later, put them in a zip lock bag & that way I cn get small amount or as much as I want at one time.
Love the fact your doing pantry/ freezer meals I think it’s good to use up what you have once in a while then re stock again . Love your channel
That squirt was HILARIOUS!!!!
I just have to say ... I am in love with that knife design! so pretty and yet fun.
Your family is awesome! Started watching your videos just shy of 2 years ago. Can't miss them! I too believe :"a recipe is a guideline."
Name for your dish: Nocho Average Taco Pie 😂.
Mandy, thank you for always sharing your videos and your home life with us. will there be a chance you will make a cookbook? :) 🧡
I also chop and freeze celery because I don't use it fast enough before it spoils, oh and I made the Boursin cheese chicken recipe....sooo good
Mandy,
I feel you made an awesome "pantry pull together" meal, you should do more of them. You know what goes together and how to make a great sauce! Keep up the great work! 🎉🎉🎉
Got my new air fryer like yours and will be using it this weekend. Thanks so much.
What was that spitting of the chicken? I laughed really out loud.
I enjoy when you read the comments together. I felt like we were having coffee and visiting on the back porch! Thanks y'all.❤❤
Yes glad they don’t ignore the comments. To many to respond to , but it’s nice if they did. But watching y’all read them together shows u care.
The oil in the pasta water not only keeps the pot from boiling over but also keeps the pasta from sticking together.
will definately try this!
Yes, but it also prevents the sauce from sticking to the pasta. Italians cringe when people add oil to pasta water.
@@ummfulaan9672that is so true it is better to not add oil. Also do not cover pasta to cook
If you put a wooden spoon across the top of you pot the water will not boil over!
Do what makes ya happy! 😂
Throwing together ingredients from the pantry/fridge can never go wrong. Some of my favorite dishes is what I just throw together.
Prayers 🙏
I love the concept of this video!! It’s something I try to do often to use up stuff in my pantry and fridge!! Y’all should definitely make this a reoccurring segment!! I’m sure Steven could come up with a great name for it!! Love your channel Mandy!!❤️❤️
Southwest Shepherd's Pie! Yum! And I have everything to make it!
Added to my previous comment, I’m so sorry I forgot to say thank you for sharing your beautiful Miss Gracie❤️
Tip: I buy onions and chop them in the chopper immediately after my trip to the grocery store to reduce waste and then freeze them in freezer bags. I buy peppers, carrots, and celery and do the same. Saves time and $$$$. :)
One of my kitties is a senior kitty, she is almost dead and blind ...in people years she is 21 = 100 ish..she has the biggest mouth and let's everyone know whose the boss ! She's the sweetest cuddler...they always know love ❤
I think the name of the recipe should be "Cornbread Hash". Love your sweet family so much. Y'all make me smile, and laugh every video!!! Thank you for that ❤
My maternal grandmother used to cut up and can candied watermelon rind (the white part).
It had red hot candies in it.
My paternal grandmother used to do the same. Delicious !!
@@dmmrad54 ,
Thank you for sharing!
You can also use the stuffing ground up & use it for your meat loaf. As well as for other ground meats, works as a thickiner.❤🎉
ALL the Herdez sauces are so good. Fellow Texan.
I could take a bath in the Guacamole Salsa. Cannot find Herdez Mild Enchilada Sauce out here
Once Upon A Time Texan
🙋🏻♀️ Another fellow Texan here
Walmart has Herdez Hot sauce
Chef's point of view: When olive oil is put in the water the sauce won't stick to the pasta. So , my Italian family members don't use oil in pasta water, instead, we put a wooden spoon across the pot and keep thee simmer low. There is also the idea of a larer pot with more water. You guys do a great job !
Hey Hey From Canada…we live watching you two…!! We think you should call it The Jiffy Go-backer…!!!
I use onion and garlic in almost all recipes. I started buying a bag of already peeled garlic in my produce section. Then I keep it in the freezer and just take out how much I need. It thaws fast and is so easy.
we make this sausage pasta salad all the time! Grill red peppers, and the sausage, and add basil! Yum!
Dinner looked great!! Steven has such great family stories. The pie looks yummy🤗
a wooden spoon laid across the pot of boiling pasta water will keep it from boiling over. Also, in some cultures burping out loud is a sign of respect and that you enjoyed the meal.
That indoor garden is beautiful 😊
I cut up several onions and put them in the freezer in Ziploc freezer bags I also cook a large pot of rice and section it off and put those in Ziploc bags and put in the freezer. I do these things because there's just me and this way I can just pull it out of the freezer when I need it because I buy a lot of onion at each time I shop so to prevent them from spoiling I chop them up and freeze them. I also freeze cherry tomatoes to use in a shrimp and baby spinach dish. 😊👩🦳💜 (Cornbread surprise?)
I allso cut different sizes onion and bag all different some chunky for stews ,
Some small.chop for soups ,hot dogs etc and some sliced
I do same with carots ,turnip ect
Recently been reminded to try to resist the urge to run water over pasta… the sauce needs that starch there to stick on the pasta.❤
I dice up my onions and freeze them. I live alone and so many onions were going bad on me. So I got a 2 gallon bag, then filled it up with smaller bags of onions. As I need them I get out a bag and throw it on the kitchen floor to break the frost and seperate them.
Pasta salad is perfect for summer days . Something easy and light.
Suggestion for the Jiffy Mex Casserole...add a splash of milk, about a cup of corn and a cup of grated cheese to the cornbread mix/topping!
I love pantry meals. Most meals I make are pantry meals. That stuffing chicken looked delicious! Salsa Verde Cornbread Casserole is my idea for the name. I bet it would be good with ground chicken too!
I love your cat! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love all of these! Sometimes, the best meals are the ones you make just throwing random ingredients together.
I don’t want to say how many times I played back that chicken squirting across the table. I laughed until my sides hurt. His face 😂.
