Mikey Designs & Silk Screen
I'm never going to stop watching this video.
Love ya Matt... hope you're doing OK mate.
Thank you! I'm doing well. Just been doing a lot of backend things. Working on getting into a more regular schedule of posting.
Great vid. Love all your designs. This is so therapeutic, I could sit here all day watching people screen print. I've got to get into it.
You should! I learned from watching others videos before I got into screen printing. I to this day watch others videos.
Awesome design. Great print.
Thank you, Carl!!!!
Amazing print @mikey Designs & Silk Screen
I appreciate that!!!
Really you are a hero 👌👌💪👏
Thank you!!!
Fantastic work! I'm keen to get into screen printing myself though it will be via basic DIY methods. I admit I'm a little ambitious with wanting to print a three colour design with overlapping colours using rather crude equipment but I'm determined to make it work.
Thank you! You can do it. My first setup I made out of wood for about $25 and it's taken me where I am now.
Matt you are a fantastic pre press artist. Everytime I hire new designer I show them how you separate. You've taught me a lot as well. Awesome print dude! Keep it up
Thank you! I really appreciate that. I'll post some more videos of the process because I feel I could have more up to help the community out.
You make it look easy I would make a right mess the T shirts look brilliant
great video thank you for sharing
Thank you!!!
your all designs are awesome...
Thank you! I really appreciate that.
Perfect..!
so sick as usual
Thanks!!!
Great video..Thanks to share this..🙏🙏🙏🙏💖
Thank you!!!
You are my mentor.
Thank you! That means a lot.
Came out killer 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thank you!!!
Good video. Can you please tell me if I need to stroke/choke the white underbase (make smaller) or leave it the same size as other colors when doing these type halftone prints. Thanks
Both. Just depends on the graphic. You could spread certain parts of the overprint, or just choke the white base, but you may lose detail by doing so.
Really cool, Thanks for posting
Thanks, Tim! I've ben wanting to get this one up ASAP, but we've been busy busy.
Beautiful work !
Thank you!
Great work brother!
Thank you!!! I really enjoyed this project.
They turned out really nice... love the pink. Watched the whole design video because I'm considering setting up myself ... it was nice to see the process from idea to print.... loving the channel...
Think I'm going to do it... I'm nervous as fuck lol... but I'm gonna do it.
Thanks for the encouragement ..
That's awesome! Thank YOU for watching our content. It makes creating these videos worthwhile. Do it Daniel! It will take a lot of dedication, late nights, and cursing, but you can do it.
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473
I've got the late nights and cursing down.. been doing that for a long time lol... how did you find the sales when you first started out ?
I would imagine word of mouth is a big part of it when you first start up... but apart from advertising .. how do you find the sales etc.
Also... is there anything I should look out for when it comes to actually buying the equipment ?
I'm looking at a start-up package... or should I buy certain things seperately ... if you can spare some time to offer some advice if really appreciate it.
Thanks
@@supernube5051 I hear that. Biggest was word of mouth. Others has been social media, website with good SEO (Search Engine Optimization), Yelp and a Google business listing. Equipment wise, I looked out for quality and price. For me I stumbled up Ranar's equipment. I originally was sold on getting Ryonet's equipment, but I'm glad things worked out the way they did. Found a good used 6/6 Ranar Elite, and saw that they had great equipment and an affordable price. Jonathan's customer service has been second to none. So I continued filling my shop with Ranar equipment. There are a lot of great choices out there, so just see what everyones feedback has been. You'll get a better deal buying a package rather piecing thing together, but if you need to buy one thing at a time, which is what I did as I made profit from each job, there's nothing wrong with that. As my business grew, I needed better equipment to help speed the process up. I was washing screens out in the drive way / grass, which the misses wasn't happy about. I hope this helps some.
These videos are so helpful! Love the drying cabinet you have for your screens, any way we could get a video on how to make one? I feel like that's one of the things limiting my process with me having to find different light safe spots to dry screens lol
LOL! I'll post a video on it because I get asked about it here and there. I'll get dimensions and all. May take a moment. Just need to get a break from printing to get to it.
Great tutorial. Where did you get the sports team fonts?
I love your use of color...
How do i match screen color to actual printing color...thx
Thank you! You just need to design keeping in mind what colors are available to you, or you can mix a custom ink to the colors in your design. I just use the stock / house ink possible.
thank you for the info. help
You're welcome!
I've watched a few of your videos where you printed wet on wet. It appears in this one, you flashed between each color. Was there a reason you did it differently for this print?
Just to keep certain colors bright and the image as crisp as possible. Wasn't a huge run.
very very nice
Thanks a lot
Can you print gradient color?👍👍🙂
Absolutely!
been waiting for this video..very cool!!!!!
Gene LaRose me too
Thanks for hanging in there for the video to come out. I've had this one stashed away and have been working my way down the list of videos to post. More to come gang!
Mikey Designs & Silk Screen can’t wait.. is that union ink fluorescent pink or union classic neon pink?
Never mind I just saw it in the comments
Fluorescent pink, or neon pink. I'll have to check the ink container, but it's from their Max Opaque line.
I know this video is old but I hope you see this question, this past summer I was trying to print a 2 color smiley face shirt but I could never get the outline to align properly. So my question to you is how do you burn your screen so that everything fits in place perfectly? Thanks Kari
Hi Kari. You just have to register or align the screens. Sometimes you will need to add a little choke or bleed to the graphic to help things stay looking nice.
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 Thank you man so appreciative of the response me and my friend were going through the motions trying to figure this out. I'm doing a print next week and I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks Again!
@@kariabraham2998 Awesome! Let me know if you run into any snags.
Did you flash between each color?
For this particular job I did because some of the colors were bleeding out quite a bit because they were fairly thin coming straight out of the quart. Could have used a more opaque or denser inks. I used 230 mesh screens. Some of the things I look out for after printing the base and doing wet on wet top prints is how the ink sets. Sometimes it can have a stamping / bleeding effect which I didn't want. So I flashed them. It takes more time, but the results come out that much better.
Is the screen has the same design ? Sir
I'm not sure what you're asking?
Cleeeeeean!
Thanks!
How did you create your separate screens that allow for the fine detail in different colors . How did you mask those fine details off? Sorry if my question is so basic I just don’t understand how you separated all of those colors per screen .
Everything is separated in the program you are using for design. You are either using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. And Accurip helps with the printing of the film's for the halftones but is not needed. But makes life much easier
Daniel nailed it! We have a white base to make the colors pop, and then a screen / sep for each color.
Please what t-shirt did you use? Is it Gidlan?
I believe this was a gild an 8000 which is a 50/50 mix.
Great Job!!
Thank you!
HI MIKE COULD YOU SHOW US HOW TO SEPARATE THIS 6 COLORS PLEASE
This particular job?
Awesome print was the art print ready ? What software did you use for separations?
Thank you! This is something we designed in house, so I had to do the separations manually with this one. I used Photoshop and Illustrator.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey Awesome video!👏
Question, what is the effect called on the art for the cars that makes them look like comic style? Do you re draw them k illustrator or you play with the artistic effects?? Thanks 🙏
Sometimes I use plastic wrap, or posterize. These though, didn't have an effect on them aside from an outline.
Matt, Great video! What mesh screens and what ink did you use? Thanks
Thanks, Jon! Great question. It was 230 mesh screens, 45 lpi, 22.5º angle, and the inks were an assortment of Wilflex white, Wilflex grey, fluorescent pink Union Ink, Rutland lemon yellow, GSG StarTex Neon blue, Wilflex matte black... Thanks for watching!
Awsome job :)
Thank you!
What size vinyl is that
It was a 12x16 screen print.
very nice !
Thank you!
Nice video..How can I get in touch with you.? I would need your help. Thanks
Awesome work considering how low re and crappy the images you had to start out with.
Matt. Actually we all want to know how do you make that separated graphics on different screen.. Please..
m from nepal. I love watching your videos
Hi! The art will need to be separated in Photoshop. Do a search on our channel for how to separate simulated process.
Can you teach how to do artwork spot simulated?
Do a search on our channel for simulated process. We have quite a few of them. :)
Maestro
Thank you!
Mikey u dont sell your design 😊
Is it plastisole?
It is plastisol. Thanks for watching!
About pricing how much do you charge per shirt to the client for something like this? Thank you.
Phillip Rea we charge $50 an hour for design work, and it depends on how many shirts and what style.
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 thank you for your response. I been watching and following your videos. I mainly do vinyl t shirts but it could be very limited and expensive. On average i charge $20 per t shirt but it takes a lot longer then screen printing. Geting ready to purchase my 1st screen print machine, what do you recommend? I dont want something i have to upgrade latter, would like to get a machine that is already ready for me when i grow in to it, like a 6 head or 5 head? Whats your recommendation? And by the way i just want to say your videos are kick ass.
@@feliprea5504 Any time. Thanks for watching our videos! Vinyl is a great way to get your feet wet making custom shirts, but as you stated there are limitations which isn't necessarily a bad thing. You just have to design around those limitations. We like to do HTV for small orders and we let our clients know the design has to be simple. We tend to charge anywhere from $18-$35 a shirt depending on how quickly they need it.
Hey Mickey.. How do you price for your custom design T-Shirt print. I mean just wondering about the pricing categories and terms. Thanks in advance :) Cheers !!
Hi Vijay! We charge by the hour, which our rate is $50 an hour. So if we guess it'll take 3 hours to design, we'll charge $150. If we run over the estimated 3, we'll update our invoice. Every shops hourly rate will differ, but we basically factor our overhead cost per hour plus profit. Cheers!
Which software is used to trace that image bro.
I used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Photoshop for the seps and Illustrator for the output of film.
Can you suggest versions
And which photoshop version is better for seps and which illustration version is better for film output .can you please suggest a good one bro.
I like to use the CC version ruclips.net/user/redirect?v=pXZoTdDK430&event=video_description&q=http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FAdobe-Photoshop-CC-Screen-Print&redir_token=19RNx9ERY5PdIprOd1gqCewm6uV8MTUzODc3MTU5NEAxNTM4Njg1MTk0
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 was there any color reduction for this design? Thanks..
Sick
Thanks!
Can i get the process, how you do it?
I have a job I'm going to do here next week that's the same process. I'll show you guys from start to finish. Keep an eye out for the video and be sure to hit that bell icon so you'll get a notification.
Hey Mikey how you doing have a request and a favor I would like to know how and what are the settings on a Dobby Illustrated to print that film positive for screen printing when I print on a film positive it doesn't come out dark enough so I think it might be the settings I have an Epson 1400 need your help please thank you
Hey there Jota Jota! I use AccuRip with an all black ink system. It allows you to do a test print and dial in your ink density without using too much ink. Perhaps I'll do a complete video on all of those setting this week because it's a lot to go over in a comment. :)
@@mikeydesignssilkscreen473 cool Matt thank you really appreciate this I don't have accu rip
Wow, looks like I'll be sticking to black and white with this one screen 😵
You can do it!
Shit 🧡🧡🧡
Hahaha! Thank you!
