Black neons look absolutely amazing in dark water environments. You'd think they would disappear, but it's the exact opposite! Love them!
Well I was gonna get up and work on my tanks, now I'll wait 20min, great timing lol
Same
I hope you are now working on your tank with a nice smile on you face and loving it 😊
@@MDFishTanks oh definitely 😄 actually working on a new tank inspired by that massive trident java fern you have taking up that whole nano tank. Have a good one man, keep up the great work
I bought pearlweed a few days ago because your enthousiasm about the plant made me want it as well.
Bought one cup 1 2 grow by Tropica.
But i noticed one thing.
Since your Asian tank is 75% Pearweed i assumed it was an Asian plant.
But its actually South American.
The first latin name gave it away.
Its the same family as Monte Carlo 🙃
Never knew this.
So you can put Pearlweed in the Amazon tank instead of the Limnophila and its accurate for the continent again 😉
@@dennisvanopstal7360 lol. yeah I'm aware but its the "asian Fish" tank. The reason I didnt put it in the amazon tank is that i wanted it completely different. Great plant though.
Hey MD, I'm getting ready to hard scape a 4ft tank for my son's birthday tomorrow. Getting lots of inspiration from your vids 👍👍
Good luck
all the best
sounds great
Happy birthday to your son
@@archie8614 thanks, we completed the hard scape yesterday and it looks awesome, just waiting on plants
I actually love the area around the discus tank without substrate! It makes them look like they’re floating around an island, it’s a beautiful effect
Love your ethos MD, you and George Farmer are my influencers for stepping back into the hobby again after a four year spell without a tank.
I kept a large pleco in my planted tank for years. Just tossed zucchini in the tank, which he loved to hang on and eat. Fun to watch, and he left the plants alone. He did become territorial in his old age and wouldn't allow a school of fish in his tank.
I particularly like the glass showing on the Discus tank! It gives an island look and is probably easy to clean!
Love it when we occasionally see the khuli loaches
I am excited!!! But MD, where is the Mr.Clam? is the clam okay? ☺️
Man, I've learned so much from your channel.
1: don't get pearl weed
2: don't get pearl weed
3.........
No get pearl weed and sell it to other people locally I've made so much profit off of it it's 100 percent worth it
I love Pearl weed
I was about to scape my 54 litre tank for my dwarf gourami pair, But this is better.
haha. Do it after scott
The red honeys are not actually the trichogaster chuna/sota species, they are a hybrid between trichogaster chuna/sota and trichgaster labiosa, and they tend to be more agressive and bigger (i think) than the yellow honeys (trichogaster chuna/sota)
I had two powder blue gouramis that both died within a week of each other for no apparent reason. So tragic, they are such a gorgeous fish.
If your water parameters were all good, it was probably due to the breeding of the dwarf gouramis. I had the same happen with one of mine, because of how inbred they are for color they sometimes develop a species specific disease that causes sudden death. Sorry for your fishy loss
It is something to do with their genetics.
I found out out from internet that those blue ones imported from asia are more prone to dwarf gourami disease which is due to poor breeding they say.
I don’t understand how this guy isn’t more popular
He getting there, one strand of pearlweed at a time.
Really enjoy watching your videos and you have gotten me very interested in the hobby. I have been brainstorming my first tank. I really enjoy the look of the blackwater style with red root floaters. Just have to settle on a feature fish and a size that I won't mind maintaining. Keep it up and thank you.
Asian tank is looking sweet. Love the way the harlequins are loosely schooling near the top. I'd probably bulk the numbers up with 5 or 6 more because it'd look awesome seeing that behaviour with a larger group.
It would get overstocked then
@@definitelynotyuribezmenov7611 it wouldn't even be close to overstocked lol
@@porcu12345 it would be
I used to have brislenose pleckos. They are really cool even spawned. They do get bigger than you think and they do digg there own caves.
i can spend hours watching your videos... simply wonderful... all of them... thanks for sharing your knowledge whit us
Maybe some rounded gravel at the ends of the discus tank. Doesn't need to be sharp or rough, to protect cories. Everything looking great. Happy New year, MD
yeah could be an idea....although part of me is itching to make it full on planted lol.
You can also try a clown pleco or rubber lip they stay smaller
Just spotted a new tank..with Buddha..can't wait to see.. Hopefully you Update it soon.
I prefer the exposed sides on the discus tank, makes it look like a tropical island with the glass being the ocean
After watching your videos, it made me plant a lot of Pearlweed in my 90 Gallon tank! Thanks man!
I'm with you on low tech, low cost, high reward. Definitely working.
I just brought 2 honey gouramis yesterday and I absolutely love them! So underrated!
Love your videos and determined to get in to Aquascaping this year. Have kept fish for many years but always felt planted tanks would be too much work. Gonna start with a nano tank and go from there 👍
Did I miss a Vlog??? the tank with the big Buddha looks dope!!! I know the purists are anti-decor, but when it's done well a classic ancient looking Buddha in a tank looks so good.
Wonderful job! Is great to know an aquarist as you that emphasizes simple tanks/hardscapes/equipment.
What you did in this tank with no CO2 is just wonderful! Can you please share the specs used in this project? Congratulations!
If you pay attention closely, you'll find that he has a very Gordon Ramsay ish vocabulary when describing things
It’s the British in us 🇬🇧😂😂
just with less swearing 🤣😂
Tgatll be the day when I hear MD say “SHUTUP YOU F***ING *DOUGHNUT* !!!”
I think Gordon Ramsay is Scottish. Maybe they are from the same region.
@@gingersnaps6279 he is I believe, but doesn't have a Scottish accent
I love your tanks......I have a few planted tanks, and I find your tanks lovely, sadly I have too many pond snail invasions on the plants. The removal of pest snails is actually the only high work I do. I do weekly water changes as mine are nano tanks, I've got a 190ltr waiting .........just need to build the stand.
Those lights don’t turn off with the timer function. It just goes to the lowest light setting when not “on”. Just a word from the wise.
yeah its all good. Nice little night light :)
What lights are they?
@@SteveSerednicki the links are in the description. UK and US 😃
I have these lights. Really like them...however, I'm afraid they will create algea because they go to the lowest setting not off. Advise?
@@joybuckeye7493 I set mine up on a WiFi timer. No need to sweat it now. I did get algae when I was using the included timer on the light, but it went away when I added the timer.
Love the plecs. I have 2 albino bristle nose. Ones white and ones like gold or deep yellow. The yellow ones the star of the tank when he comes out of hiding
pearl weed will be my next background plant for my nano shrimp tank - thx MD for the inspiration =)
!
Endler guppy's are also nice
While MD has too much pearl weed i cant find a single one on the internet XD
Very nice , sorry about the blue. Yeah big plecos upset plants simply by trying to move about , they are pretty stiff with all the armor and spikes.
I love that tank with the black neons and bristle-noses. I've been meaning to re-do the scapes on the two tanks I have. Might need to try an open top with plants coming out the top. It looks very impressive.
I don’t know if this has been mentioned before, but one biotope tank of either lake Malawi or tanganyika would present a different fresh looking aquarium with its rocky scape and fish species.
Hey MD, just a quick tip. Check CPL lenses, they are like 10-12 $-€-£ on Amazon and will definitely reduce a big amount of glare when filming in front of the aquarium with a lot of ambient light. That helped me a lot.
Hey MD, try electric blue acara in one of your aquariums, they are a really nice community ,planted aquarium fish. They are also spectacural!
They are gorgeous fiwh
Keeping it simple, finding joy in our own way. Thank you for showing balance is key.
Was a bit disappointed when you moved to the new studio from your old ones, as I didn’t think it would be the same, but I’m loving your new studio and the tanks you’ve been setting up. Looking forward to whatever is coming next. Happy new year MD
ayyy i got those same hygger light from the new rack too. babies work like a charm . im so jealous of those red honey gourmi you have! thats my dream fish right there
So glad you went the gourami route, not many show case them and I personally love them
cheers catherine...kind of want more...but I did say final.
@@MDFishTanks always a species to consider for another set up, got a good variety of sizes and colours to chose from with gourami
I had bought 4 bristlenose and within a year, I had over 50!!! they will breed like crazy in an amazon tank
MD, not even 2 minutes in and loving it. But man! Don't limit yourself you're going to need help soon! You're going to be huge!
The studio is looking great! As for your sword plants and plecos...my plecos didn’t do any damage till they were adult size (Amazon swords actually have thin leaves). I have about 10 species of swords but I don’t mind that the plecos have put holes in a few of them - that’s nature 😁 🌱🐟💕
Dwarf gouramis have lots of inbreeding issues, it’s very common for a powder blue or other dwarf gouramis to get cancers and similar issues you can’t cause or fix
I forgot to leave a comment the first time i watched i absolutely love your videos! I want to keep killifish now and those gouramis look stunning in the asain tank!
Great stuff MD....loving the progress of your gallery/studio
thanks mate. I saw your river scape. I'm guessing inspired by the one on the ADA channel ?? Think Im going to do one for one of my shrimp tanks on a small scape.
@@MDFishTanks Hi MD...yes....deffinatley inspired by the ADA river stream scape. Cant wait to see your shrimp scape mate.
@@Natquascape cheers mate. Will basically be the same thing as yours lol. It's a good simple look though that many can replicate.
@@MDFishTanks totally agree...nice and simple which is want I like. The variety of tetras in the amazon scape looks epic!
I started fish keeping because of yours videos they are really intresting
I'd love to see a video about how you made your hose contraption for refilling your aquariums when you do water changes.
You are killing it man. I love your tanks and content!
Nice update! I was hoping you would post a VLOG today! I can't believe I've become so addicted that I'm ordering an MD Fishtanks shirt today! LOL
Maybe if you just added more of the fine sand in the discus aquarium there would be enough of it to build up in the other areas while covering the corners? Either way looks fantastic.
Love the new colours of the fish in the peninsula aquarium.
Always inspired to get more plants in my tank 🌱
Your videos bring a lot of joy, my mum watches your videos with me now too and we bond over them ^_^ thanks for the great content 👌
Hi MD, please do me a favor and fix those racks to the wall. Lots of weight on top 😅
They can carry the weight for shure.
Love your chanal and thanks for all the great tips. My tank looks better with your help.
One thing I personally look at is cleanliness man !! That is really awesome, need some tips regarding how I can maintain as same as your crystal clean water.
I heard that amazon swords are the only plant that brostlenose plecos DO eat.. but maybe that's wrong 🧐
Everything's looking gorgeous as always 😍
Gourami can be jumpers. Hope they don't jump over the edge of the asian aquarium.
I have been shouting black neons for ages now, they are the best.
I love discus island the glass bottom looks keen.
I would also be in a good mood in your room! Going for that serpa design look! Watching after animals is just a sign for pure love for everything! Love your animals and your character! Keep up! Greetings from Munich,Germany
Man I always love looking at your tanks! Great style and you aren’t afraid of trying “unorthodox” methods of setting these masterpieces up. Great work man keep the vids rolling!
I think you need to dabble into the wonderful world of rainbow fish with some torpedo barbs flying foxes the random oddball
I have scaped with these fish and had awesome results
Keep it up mate don’t see many British channels and your a pleasure to watch and create stunning setups 🤙
All of your tanks look absolutely stunning! I would be thrilled if I achieved something similar on my one 130 litre tank ... but I’m working on it ... all inspiration coming from your wonderful videos.
Amazing! Just be careful because those “red honey gouramies” aren’t actually dwarf gouramies but big lipped gouramies which are super aggressive and might become hostile later.
Great video! I think you don't need to buy more "plecos". Once they are mature and you have a male and female, you will have hundreds in no time haha.
Thanks again for the video!
Super hard to find this equipment in the USA. Your work is so great! Every one of your tank videos should have links to all the stuff so we can copy your amazing work.
Love the rainbow assortment of fish!
Really enjoyed following this tank . Do enjoy yr content you havea passion
so happy to have found this channel. I used to watch the green machine many years ago
love the content your a great youtuber and so good with the hobby. i watch daily!!!!!
Hey MD, can you make some before and after or tank update please. I would love to see how all your tanks develop over time. Thanks to you I've setup my first Walstad tank, it's been almost a month now and every thing going great. Love your work man, keep it up, upload moreeee 😁
Good luck. My Walstad tank is now 10 months old. Inspired by Foo the Flowerhorn and MD (+ Diana Walstad's book).
@@vEGan1909 Thank youand me too. I've watched both channels for like 2 years now but the book is what got me started
I just recently found your channel, you have really spiked my interest with so many scapes you have built. i love your channel dude! Keep the vids coming man!
I was afraid of having plants in my aquariums. They where all plastic plants. Now because of you I have my aquarium full of plants!!! (The differenceis huge)The only problem i had recently is when I moved my lili and i think os not doing so well :( . But hey you learn from your mistakes haha.
Black neons for the win👍🏻👌🏻
Maybe having course rocks just where the sand is missing. That way you solve the problem and your corys barbs will still be okay
Lobe the honey gouramis. They always follow each other
Man I love ur work. Keep up this great work.
Ahhh! I saw a Buddha.... my favorite video (after all of yours of course) - Cinescaper’s Lost World!!! Can’t wait to see your take on it.... 😃
All the thanks just look so amazing 🙌🙌
Hey md love your tank you got in to scaping now just starting my 300ltr discus
Another great vid! Thanks MD :)
Great tank MD. Your cube tank got me into this hobby. I now have 4 tanks, but you have gone so far so fast. Congratulations mate you deserve all the subs.
Yeah you should definitely get some pleco caves for them
Thats what I like about M🍃 and his channel, just a real guy, who loves the hobby and keeps it fun and relatively simple. I appreciate the purest in depth kinda content aswell. (Just saying) lol
I hope this isn't weird to say. But dude your skin is so smooth looking. Wonderful tanks! I am starting a planted tank!
Awesome video MD! Those tanks are looking amazing 😍 the whole vibe just works perfectly 👍🏻
I have two of those hygger lights that you put on the new tank. Had one for 4 months and got the second one recently. Great lights for the price.
Love your vids!!! The Amazon tank needs some apistogramma species, cories, and otocinclus.
Me encantan tus vídeos, son diferentes y divertidos. ¡Enhorabuena!!! Podrías sacar merchandiising
I love all of your tanks, they all look like they're thriving and are so well maintained! How often do you do water changes to keep the water so clear?
I have a tiger pleco and a gold nugget. The tiger is never messing with my plants. He just chills on the drift wood. The gold nugget will get on the leaves of the plants but I have never had them pull up or damage my plants. May give them a go
Great video love planted tanks like yours
Aloha and happy new years!
Love watching your videos, it's inspired me to start using live plants. And I'm in love with the results. Mahalo and can't wait to see what you do this year!
Man these tanks are looking awesome bro!😍
Love the videos bro! I've had a crayfish for years! They are literaly one of those things I can sit and watch all day ,, they love building there caves, hunting there just insane!!!! They go amazing with African butterfly fish aswell as they never come in contact!!!!!
I lost a fosh overnight woke up to him in the filter intake
It happens I've learnt to take it on the chin great video MD
You could put excess pearlweed in a pond, in southwest England it can live outside all year round
Hi md I love the videos keep it up 👍. Also I think you should get some green flame tetras for the Amazon tank as they will really pop against the background and plants.
Hygger lights are great. I can tell by the bracket. Also grows pearl weed for me like champ! Keep it up!
I have the same lights. Do you leave them on at night? I'm afraid it will create algea if they never go off.
@@joybuckeye7493 I have a separate timer on them.
