  • I couldn't wait to get started scaping this 55 gallon tank. I gave it quite a bit of thought - especially with the plants I wanted. Most things arrived on the same day. Some plants arrived later. I still want to add CO2, but I haven't managed to get a cannister as yet. Anyway, I thought it would be nice to share my first attempt at aquascaping on a larger scale with you.
    Thanks for watching.

    Incredible tank and the kuhli loaches made my heart happy...they are such cheerful, quirky little guys

    Commented here before, but I’ll comment again. Do you have a full list of all of the plants that you used? I’d love to know everything in the tank so I could get a good idea on what to get!

    Coolest planted community tank I’ve seen hands down, I’m trying to do something like this, what all breeds/species of fish do you have in there?

      Thank you so much. Really appreciate the kind words. It's been my pride on joy - right by side as I'm typing this. OH NO... I've just felt the all too familiar itch to scape another tank!

      @@skootsmcbeeten super jealous! I just got a 55 and looking at the size of it I'm realizing the sheer amount of plants I'm going to need. How many tropica cups did you get to start? I feel like I'm going to need to spend more money on plants than I did on the tank

    • @skootsmcbeeten
      @skootsmcbeeten  3 года назад

      I use 2 NICREW Planted LED Aquarium Light, 24/7 Automated Aquarium Lights. I have smaller version on a nano tank that doesn't do the 24 thing, so I have to have it on a timer. This... I just set it and forget it and they're relatively inexpensive.

    Do you have a filter, heater ? Sorry totally new to this and trying to get my tank set up. Thanks

    • @skootsmcbeeten
      @skootsmcbeeten  3 года назад +3

      I do ineed. The filter is a ADA Super Jet Filter ES-1200. Very expensive for what is is - paying for the name there I think. In hindsight, I might have opted for a cheaper alternative that does just as good a job... though it is very pretty.

      and an inline heater that heats the water as it travels from the tank to the filter.

    I know this is a little late, but do you have a way of sourcing your driftwood? I’d love to get some pieces like that!

    • @skootsmcbeeten
      @skootsmcbeeten  Месяц назад

      Firstly, I'm sorry for my late reply to this. I've been super busy, but still - I'm sorry about that.
      I fell lucky with the two large pieces of driftwood. I'm sure I'm far from being alone in ordering it online and having a tiny piece delivered. I travelled to 4 different aquarium stores, even trying a couple of stores that catered to reptiles and amphibians... until trying my most local (and smallest) aquarium store. Thinking they would never have really large pieces in stock. I walk in and RIGHT THERE in front of my eyes on the floor were these. I nearly tripped over getting to the store owner to ask if they were already sold. "No, not sold. I was going to cut them into smaller pieces because no one wants them that big." She said. "I MUST HAVE THEM!" I replied.
      If I had to give advice, it would be either; go to as many stores as you can to find decently large pieces OR contact a retailer that specialises in aqua-scapes (like Aquarium Gardens in the UK) and ask them if they have/if they could source you some really good pieces of driftwood. If they're decent at what they do, they'll be happy to help.
      *looks at the wall of text I have just typed out*
      Oh dear, sorry about that haha. Hope it helped in some way.
      Thank you - Skoots

      @@skootsmcbeeten thanks so much man! I’ve been looking online for ages and they’re all selling super small pieces, so maybe l have to head to a few stores around me! This video honestly inspired me to do my tank renovations and I’m super excited to see how it turns out!

    Do you realize you are standing right in front of the camera most of the time. Better to film at an angle so you do not always block the view. Check out other videos

      Thanks for the input. Unfortunately for me, I'm not lucky enough to have a dedicated 'tank room' or even room at all that has plenty of space to position cameras as and where I'd like to. In this relatively cramped room I had to do what I could with the options available to me right now. This was my only, and therefore, best option.

      Hey, it is a good suggestion, though maybe a bit tactless- and your answer really made me appreciate your efforts even more. Thanks for the video! It's maybe not as polished as others, but the tank is gorgeous and I deeply appreciate the shared knowledge. Peace and happy tanks, my friend!
