      I attribute that as having !multiple tanks and boredom seeing the same scapes. I relate to it as a model railroader and almost as soon as a layout is done the kind sees a new layout and it's torn down for the new. Authors say by the time they get a novel published they are sick of it but the compliments from fans is a reminder of why they write, it can bring joy to others who don't understand writing is hard work and the writer gos over a story so many times they get sick of it. It follows the ida of human desire is endless.

      Depends if you are getting juvenile or adult discus and the pH of your water, tbh. Juvenile and high pH water means you might want to reconsider a heavily planted tank for now until the discus are more grown and mature.

    • @brianpyle9045
      @brianpyle9045 5 лет назад

      @@bakotako Im looking to just start with juveniles since they're gonna be my first discus, I've seen a lot that it's more of maintaining a PH level that's more important, since they seem to not do well with changes well, but I'll definitely keep it in mind. Thanks for the info!!

    • @bakotako
      @bakotako 5 лет назад +1

      @@brianpyle9045 Get a group of 4 or more. Bacteria/parasite curve follow the pH scale and temperature. Discus prefer pH of 6.5 and high temps. The low pH reduces bacteria/parasite levels to tolerable discus levels. Higher pH means more bacteria/parasites, planted tanks add to that equation as well, and high temps will explode a bacteria/parasite level. Keeping discus in high pH is not the end of the world but it does mean while discus are juvenile and more susceptible to disease they should be kept in a bare bottom tank with frequent water changes until they grown a bit (~6 months, 5") with good feed. Maintaining pH just means try not to use pH buffers or acids unnaturally and age your water. This is a given for discus care. I don't know what your pH is but if it is on the higher side (well, hard tap water), I would recommend just going bare bottom for the grow out and double the water changes. Have a bottle of metronidazole (ex. metro+) handy. Discus are notorious for internal parasites not in a RO system. Hope this helps! Discus are great just gotta be realistic and prepared.

    • @paulsabucchi
      @paulsabucchi 5 лет назад +1

      The general advice is that if you want to put discus in a planted tank it is best to buy them already pretty big (but you pay ££££ for good ones), to grow out juvies properly (so they will not end up stunted) means good water quality, feeding a lot and so also cleaning and changing a lot of water (with mine for the first 18 months I kept the 100gal tank totally bare and changed 70 gal every day, only after that time I started scaping).
      Discus are not difficult fish to keep (except the wild caught ones ) but more than most other fish they show issues if not kept as they require

    Really Beautiful at the end when it's short like that and with the wood, more elegant, fantastic job. You should try waterproof hockey puck LED lights. They come with a remote control and the auto color rotation or having a pinkish purple glow in the back really makes it pop. You Should try something similar while playing beautiful classical music and watch the tank just..( Glow and Flow ) I like to call it. It's.. wild.
