In all fairness he was auditing their knowledge of the 3rd amendment on this occasion and they put more energy into warning officers he was there so they could adjust their behaviour rather than just reminding them of the 3rd amendment. Ideally, cops should have the constitutional rights memorized. They swear to uphold it, they should know it. But, c’mon. The third amendment? Audit videos routinely expose cops who do not have a sufficient understanding of the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 14th amendments. Sometimes the 2nd. Those are a really big deal. Those are amendments that affect their job every day. And they seem to constantly get them wrong. Grill them about THOSE amendments. Because you’re probably going to go your whole life without dialing 911 to have the cops put a stop to a platoon forcing you to quarter them.
Btw, I wasn’t trying to minimize the importance of other constitutional rights. I was simply pointing out the ones that most often run up against low enforcement.
