FF4 is one of the most important games ever created, it's still underrated af ❤
Well, I certainly like it!
@@StilesReviews hope we will get another video soon ~ i love this you & channel so fcking much ❤
@@akiinmoonlight79 Thank you very much, that's very kind of you to say.
While FF6 might arguably be better both in gameplay and in overall story, FF4 is still my favorite game in the series (by a slim margin over 6) simply because it was my entry into the series over 30 years ago. I did have an NES as a kid, but never did play the original Final Fantasy until much later. FF4 (or, as I played it on the SNES, Final Fantasy II) is the one title I keep coming back to for a nostalgia fix, as it hit all the right notes for me. And while I love the updated music in the DS/PSP ports, in some perfect world there would be a version of the PSP game and its visuals with the music remix from Pixel Remaster, and I would buy it in a heartbeat.
PS - Hot take, considering there's another video on this channel about it, but I actually enjoyed The After Years (at least the version on the PSP, not the Wii garbage). I don't think anyone in their right mind believes it to be equal to or better than the base game, but I still liked it well enough to play it through.
I dont think FFVI is better in gameplay at all... and hopefully soon there will be a video on this channel showing why
It's always pleasant to see that you are still making videos, my friend.
Hey man, good to hear from you! Hope you are doing well!
FF4 was my first experience way back in my early teens. It was the GBA version and alongside Dragon Quest 8, the reason I got into RPGs in general. So in terms of the FF series, FF4 and FF10 are my two stand out favourites.
Wow, just found the channel and I'm LOVING the content! I'm doing a marathon of your reviews and I hope you grow even more!
Thank you very much. I wish you luck in struggling through my older, rougher content haha.
Bro, no joke, I literally just beat FFIV on my switch then checked RUclips and saw this video, added 46 minutes ago. That is just spooky.
What can i say? My love for FFIV gives me strange powers lol
Look I'm up there with the patrons now! That's so exciting! (Amazing video, literally just rewatched it last week but it's still a great watch)
Thank you very much. Happy to have you here as always.
Holy shit, you're back!
Half-Back, I don't consider a remastered old video to be new content unfortunately.
This game has an extremely important place in my heart, as the game that'd turn me into an rpg-head. While a lot of pieces of the story aren't great, it contains no shortage of fantastic ones as well. I couldn't bring myself to dislike the dumb bits too much though, by way of rose-tinted glasses and the context that story-oriented games didn't exist nearly as much back then.
FFIV on Chronicles didn’t have long load times, the original 97 port did.
The only lengthy part was to save the game took like 10 seconds, and probably why they add a “memo save” as a workaround?
Nice please keep them coming
My one thing I wish the PSP and ESPECIALLY the pixel remaster had was the 3D script overhaul. The PSP has some of it, but the PR going back to a lamer translation was disappointing. That 3D script is mythic🔥🔥
I agree, I really like the style of the 3D script.
Yeah the 3D remake script is my favorite version.
Even if it's a remaster, happy to hear from you again
Thank you!
Hell yeah bro
Have you played the New Pixel Remaster version of 4? If so how does it compare to the PSP version?
I have, and made a small note about it in the video. It's adequate. Its a decent way to play the game, but not the best way imo. Great soundtrack remix, weaker script. Map ruins exploration like int he 3D version.
I could never get into the 3D remake's art style. I know it was initially developed for the Nintendo DS and they wanted to make the low-poly models look as much like the original sprites as possible within the limitations of a handheld less powerful than the original Playstation, but it is just too weird to hear the game's touching story of redemption and betrayal with its melodramatic pseudo-Shakespearean dialogue spoken through what basically look like scantily-dressed Precious Moments figurines.
I love your explanation of the character models
i think you missed the storyline reason why the game is easy: cecil and kain are both trained military officers. and they trained for years. a decade, even. rosa isnt part of the military, but she also trained as a white mage, likely just as long as cecil. Yang is similar to Cecil. trained military. Edward is, well, not trained, but he is no slouch either. Rydia starts at level one to show the complete lack of military experience, and so on. so the game being easy makes perfect storytelling and gameplay sense.
so, even that nitpick of yours falls flat to me.
Gameplay takes priority to me over story, otherwise I'd read a book or watch a TV Show. That said, them being trained explains why they didnt start at level 1, not why the game is easy for most of its run. The main cast being more powerful than your average townsperson is true of pretty much every rpg in existence, otherwise they wouldnt be heroes in the first place.
The ds version just makes me wanna not wanna play it.
