3.0 diesel, same engine as the jag, I had one and sounded exactly the same, ran on easy start for a second or so, turned out to be the HPFP. Code was for a low pressure in fuel rail.

Nice car lads, look forward to seeing it back on the road, way too nice to scrap, my dash on my 06 has parted around the airbag, I’ve put a dashmat on it and it looks great, keeps the Aussie sun off, was never a fan of dashmats but can’t fault it. Look forward to your next video 😉

Im going with High pressure fuel pump boyz. Bit of weakness my nephew had the same issue on a discovery. Good look with the project.
We thought it may be the belt that drives the pump on the back of the engine but not got round to looking yet, we'll keep yous all updated

Yeah its the easiest way, if you get a 55 plate one the tax is still acceptable but its horrible the thought of paying £700 a year isn't it?!

Can you not check fuel pressure using diag tool? Should be able to check rail pressure surely

See if you can see a cat b breaker on copart with a running engine, you can go there and strip it if you don't have a breakers licence.

Sounds almost like low compression on one cylinder or bad timing mate but you would make money on the spares so I think it’s a good buy
That's exactly what liams dad said and he works at an engine rebuild garage, if you watch the 2nd video of it you'll see it get worse ha ha
Oil in coolant more likely to be oil cooler than head gasket, fuel pumps and belt fail a lot on these
Nice one mate, we did say it could be the oil cooler. It sounds like the belt is still on tbh so further investigation is needed

That tapping noise sounds like cam chain to me, they do stretch, should go quiet once oil pressure builds. Id stump for a new battery, they are very sensitive to decent voltage/amps
That's exactly what I thought I was, no pressure in the tensioner, we've got the battery off and it's on charge, once it's charged we'll get it tested see if its a healthy battery and give it a turn over

That’s the sound of get the body off it and put a engine in it jag /peugeot are all the same motor just got to swap everything except the injectors
Ha ha you sound like you've got experience! What's your guesstimate diagnosis? I've heard the body's aren't that hard to remove
@@TransformotionVR plenty im a sucker for them lol may possibly have a issue with the cam chain between the cams usually poor oil pressure can have a detrimental effect me personally I’d just take the body off first and then take it apart but ultimately just put a known good engine in it but before you even think about doing that have a really good look over the truck because you can blow a grand plus as quick as boiling the kettle
Body should be if you not done one before about 5 hours but a job not worth rushing as you can make a few expenses mistakes
Liams dad actually works in an engine rebuilding place and have a 2.7 engine spare in the workshop, came out of a rotted truck so if worst comes to worst he can get that cheap off them but we'll look into what's wrong with this one first incase its an easy fix

@@TransformotionVR we paid 2k for it with a test , 4 decent tyres and good service history . Just had a few cosmetic bits but nothing serious.
TDV8 is lovely, not looking forward to doing the turbos if they go , that said you can buy a replacement turbo ‘ cassette’ new from a reputable UK manufacturers/ suppliers for not a lot of money and genuine too . Malett cartridge is about £130 per side . Far better that a grand a side for recon etc. right engine bay so a SHT job 😂 . Got ours for wafting around in and towing too .
Are they a body off job too? I think I heard between the vogue and sport one you have to take it off one you don't but ive never done one myself, yeah malett is a good make, let's just hope they don't go ha ha 😉 it'd be a much easier life wouldnt it ha ha
@@TransformotionVR technically they can be done with the body on and would have thought that if the cartridge can be changed whilst still leaving the cast turbo housing on then it may be even easier ish 😵💫😂.

You guys had any luck getting this started? I did notice that when the engine was cranking, the rev counter didn't move. It should still read crank revolutions. This would indicate the crank sensor not sending a signal. No signal = none starter.

Each to their own like, and matt doesn't edit them. A range rover weighs about 2.5t and pushing one uphill with the brakes binding is surprisingly hard...give it a try if you get the chance 🤣

£1000 is a very cheap Range Rover but I can see you've done your homework and made a fallback plan just in case. I think there's a good chance youll use your skills and knowledge to get it going again, and Im looking forward to the next video

Mine runs but im getting white smoke when idling (warming up when its icy) not so apparent ehen driving. No warning lights so thinking head gasket. How much do you think thats gonna cost ? 😂 bought it on a whim and paid more than you dudes 😂

@@TransformotionVR well go on you tube and see how many discoverys and range rover sports have blown 2.7 and 3ltr engines then look at how many repower them with a more reliable engine theres no vids out there ud make ur money back from views i think a bmw repower would suid they already use zf gearboxes wiring would be annoying put its worth looking into you would get a m57 bmw engine for not to much money standard egr and no dpf so that be easier to fit

I know itd be better and make good content but liam needs the truck soon ish for pulling his caravan and wants to drive it for a few months before pulling his caravan to the other side if the country so he knows he can trust it, we'll see what's up with it and go from there
@@TransformotionVR if its a simple fix fair enough but theres the problem these 2.7 and 3ltr engines were ford rubbish the 3.6 wasnt to bad but ud have to blank the egrs to safe your turbos i think long term if its not a cheap fix just replace the engine he be better off with the 3.5 tonne towbar to as the click in 1 had a habbit of the trailer passing you out the can un latch

Liam has bought it for himself, its mainly to tow his caravan but will use it as a daily too, you can face lift them which makes them look a tad newer

i remember the old mk1 range rover boy it was a headache with rust then they brought out that one but things have improved but the insurance is mind blowing .
The new keyless ones are ridiculous to insure as they're are the most stolen vehicle, landrover need to do a lot more to improve the security of them or they'll end up loosing sales
