- Polvo is an American indie noise rock band of the 1990s from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The band was fronted by guitarists/vocalists Ash Bowie and Dave Brylawski. Brian Quast played drums, and Steve Popson played bass guitar.
Polvo are one of the greatest bands of all time
Tru 🤙
Duh
I'm so glad that people are finding this band polvo touches my soul
my favorite band of my life
I'listen to this band for 27 years... Still a huge fan
ash and dave were my reasons to play guitar, i cant thank them enough
My favourite band.
Ash has aged like a fine wine.
Looks like Serge Gainsbourg
I love Polvo's unique sound. So much dissonance yet beautiful
To harmonize that discord is genius. To pile that many obscure abstracts & driver nothings into another layer of nothing laced/loaded undertones is genius++. Shocked the World didn't grab these guys. It has that one thing, _____ (word that can't be spoke by a human tongue & blocked from peoples minds) , in a key pile of give/take, push/shove, kiss/kick mentality twist of a complex code of sorts that allows some of us to recognize 'its right there'...
Thanks for Upload.
They sound like nothing else. They sound like they can fall apart and crumble at any minute. I wish they got a lot more recognition.
I’ll never forget this night. Thank you Bottletree
So glad I found this. A big influence on my own music and many others who wander in obscurity. Thanks!
They should come back. So unique what they created. I miss them as much as Sonic Youth..
Polvo the band that was math rock without really being a math rock band
So happy these guys make music together.
Found these guys on a feckingbahamas history of math rock page a few years ago. hav been listening (sub-)religiously ever since
Come back with us, please!!!!!!!
Wish I could like this twice
What a phenomenal band polvo is.
They take the standard Rock Band form and they just...Mutate it. Bless them
to say I love them doesn't cover it... but it's 100% true
1:23 Fast Canoe (from Exploded Drawing)
8:58 Enemy Insects (from Shapes)
16:30 Every Holy Shroud (from Celebrate the New Dark Age)
Thanks for recording these guys! one of my fav bands, eveyone please listen to their albums and share them, they are fantastic.
genial best band
Best band ever.
One of my favorite bands.....in my top 3 for sure. Shout out to Ken skins for turning me on to these guys. 🔥
Curious about the other two. :-)
These guys are great. Bought all their albums and if they put out more, I'll buy those too. Thanks for all the great music.
damn this is amazing!
Timeless band and sound.
sensacional.
They are they Gods we don't deserve.
Very cool, great quality, thanks 4 sharing. Date and venue would be appreciated. I'm guessing All Tomorrow's Parties before in Prism. Interesting reinterpretations of these songs and seems to have inspired a trip to the studio.
Wow, just stumbled on this perfect session. Wish it was 10 times as long.
what i'd give for a new album
damn, great quality on this one! How so few views? When was this show?
THE BAND OF MY LIFE ♥
💜💜💜💜
Come to LA again please
Polvo touches my soul and probably anybody who stumbles onto this video, so if you did go listen to celebrate a new Dark Age the songwriting in that is just so top notch the lyrics in chandeliers. Plus he plays it and sings it at the same time are you fucking kidding me
This band is great.
thanks for this. perfect.
Short interview 😢
I want to like this video but it's at 420 likes and that looks right.
Does anybody know the song titles they’re playing? My brain just melted so.....🤯
Here!!
1:23 Fast Canoe (from Exploded Drawing)
8:58 Enemy Insects (from Shapes)
16:30 Every Holy Shroud (from Celebrate the New Dark Age)
Pato thanks!!
FUCKING AWESOME ❤❤❤
Anybody know what tuning Ash uses on Enemy Insects?
love their sound. Tribal although they embroider. Where was their Andy Warhol? Shapes is my most precious kept secret.
When was this show recorded?
2008. The video eventually provided the info.
@@jontveite2508 ah no wonder they didn't play any of their more recent songs
Video was uploaded in 2008 but no signs of recording date
Like a more harmonious or melodic us maple
Son lo más de lo más!!!
is that jason sudeikis on the drums?
I wish Kurt got to hear polvo, they were around at the time but I don't think they were on anybody's radar and I'm not quite sure why
Fugazi were fans of
Polvo and so was sebadoh. Both huge in the indie scene at the time. Just cause Kurt cobain wasn’t publicly privy to them doesn’t mean they weren’t appreciated within their circle.
(Also by indie I’m just really lazily grouping in every underground-ish alt genre at that time, I’m aware that all the bands mentioned record in studios)
This ok, but I think you can tell Ash is over it, and man, is Eddie missed on the drums, this dude is way too simple for Polvo.
