@dranfu I didn't make this video. It was was given to me in the mid-90s by the manager of the Archers of Loaf for a local music show we created it Chapel Hill. I'm not sure if he had an official relationship to Polvo was, other than friend, and I'm not sure if this was an 'official' video for the song, but all of the people involved in the video are friends of Polvo. Chapel Hill is still a small town.
So cool that chapel hill, Durham, and Charlotte has such thriving music scenes back then. Being from Charlotte it's pretty sick finding bands like Seam, Polvo, and Superchunk revolutionized indie music only 2 hours from where I live
This is one of the most underrated songs ever. They have so many good songs. I always thought why this band haven’t got huge, they deserved to be one of the bests.
Laughing as the sea disappears I could never drown in any water this clear But some day I know it will float into place Like a click, and a tick when you stick and I'll stop Not knowing all the minds you've read They wash up to shore and wind up rescued instead Maybe what they wanted was a bucket of lead To weigh you down I don't need another breaker To say that you're fine I can reach out and touch it Just made you to try I don't need another breaker To say that you're fine I can reach out and touch it (It's fake) It's just what you like Now I wanna follow some sounds To say that your fine Your footsteps that lead me The whole world in mine Clapping as the sky comes clean The whistler is playing like nothing I've seen And shortly I'm waiting for all The amused You can do like a wretch to deflect and then move Not knowing all the minds you've read I wash up to shore and wind up rescued instead Maybe what I wanted was a bucket of lead I don't need to know their names (Behind Me) Say that you're fine Your reflection's direction (You're Fake) Was made to try Don't need a Tile Breaker To say that you're fine I can reach out and touch them (It's fake) It's just what you like Yeah I want to follow some sounds (Found Me) So say that you're fine Your footsteps will lead me Your new world is mine
@KingCrimson776 - Being a teenager in NC in the early 90's was fuckin great. The Cradle had great sub pop shows every Thursday and great local bands like Polvo and Archers of Loaf!
You and I could probably be best friends from the comment you posted 5 months ago. Polvo and Unwound are two of the best bands from my childhood. I remember listening to them growing up in Cheraw, SC thinking how lame everyone else was while they listened to country and Snoop Dog.
Man I can't get enough of this band, the beautifully dissonant melodies. Anyone have any suggestions for other bands with a similar sound? Already have a lot of SY, AoL, Chavez, Helium, anyone I am missing?
We're gonna figure this out, people. Latest iteration. Focus needs to be on the nouns, verbs, etc. since prepositions and articles can be argued for eternity. What doesn't help is all the live versions here on RUclips either have different lyrics that don't all match each other and/or the vocals aren't of good quality, so this is an attempt at the lyrics for this recording only. Laughing as the sea disappears I could never drown in any water this clear But some day I know it will float into place Like a click and a tick with a stick and I'll stop Not knowing all the minds you've read They washed up to shore and wound up rescued instead Maybe what they wanted was a bucket of lead* I don't need to know their names - Say that you'll find me Solutions, ambitions remain - Just wade in there and try I don't need another break - Say that you'll find me I can reach out and touch that mistake - You're much too smart to lie Now I'll follow some sound - Say that you'll find me Your footsteps to lead me around - You were always mine Clapping as the sky comes clean The whistling is ringing like nothing I've seen You short live the readers, for all we amuse, we confuse our direction, reflection then lose Not knowing all the minds you've read I washed up to shore and wound up rescued instead Maybe what I wanted was a bucket of lead I don't need to know their names - Say that you'll find me Solutions, ambitions remain - Just wade in there and try I don't need another break - Say that you'll find me I can reach out and touch that mistake - You're much too smart to lie Now I'll follow some sound - Say that you'll find me Your footsteps to lead me around - You were always mine *Something inaudible is said after this line - a mistake made by Ash? Some live versions have "to weight you down" here but that doesn't match.
wildweaselslayer show after show. They played a lot. They changed minor things to fuck with each other or the audience or the joint or three beers said it.
Uhh two years late but I got the vocal stems and deciphered it Laughing as the sea disappears I could never drown in any water this clear But some day I know it will float into place Like a click, and a tick when you stick and I'll stop Not knowing all the minds you've read They wash up to shore and wind up rescued instead Maybe what they wanted was a bucket of lead To weigh you down I don't need another breaker To say that you're fine I can reach out and touch it Just made you to try I don't need another breaker To say that you're fine I can reach out and touch it (It's fake) It's just what you like Now I wanna follow some sounds To say that your fine Your footsteps that lead me The whole world in mine Clapping as the sky comes clean The whistler is playing like nothing I've seen And shortly I'm waiting for all The amused You can do like a wretch to deflect and then move Not knowing all the minds you've read I wash up to shore and wind up rescued instead Maybe what I wanted was a bucket of lead I don't need to know their names (Behind Me) Say that you're fine Your reflection's direction (You're Fake) Was made to try Don't need a Tile Breaker To say that you're fine I can reach out and touch them (It's fake) It's just what you like Yeah I want to follow some sounds (Found Me) So say that you're fine Your footsteps will lead me Your new world is mine
Yeah No Age had some really cool stuff but nothing like new or innovative. The songs were like "Yeah this sounds like MBV!" and then I decided to listen to My Bloody Valentine.
+That Guy With the Crazy Hand after looking at the lyrics online and listening, this is as far as I can get: Laughing as the sea disappears I could never drown in any water this clear But some day I know it will float into place Like a click and a tick with a stick and I'll stop Not knowing all the minds you've read They washed up to shore and wound up rescued instead Maybe what they wanted was a bucket of lead I don't need to know their names (Say that you'll find me) Our foundations? ambitions xxxxx (Just wade in there to try?) The news/amuse? we confuse our direction, reflection of these? Not knowing all the minds you've read I washed up to shore and wound up rescued instead Maybe what I wanted was a bucket of lead I don't need to know their names (Say that you'll find me) Conditions?, ambitions xx x xx (Just wade in there to try?) +wildweaselslayer Thank you, you are awesome! After ambitions I think he says suspicions. In the end of the chorus he definitely says "You were always mine". Not sure about what comes after whistling, I would guess "ringing". And: "The short lived readers you all we amuse we confuse or direction, reflection on these" I'm pretty sure he says amuse.
It's Polvo with their smash hit "Tilebreaker".
Polvo's rhythm section often sounded like it was about to collapse, which of course it never did, which made it all the more remarkable.
polvo is probably one of the best American bands of all time
I reckon they are.
one of the world best bands of all time

one of the best songs ever written
RIP Eddie Watkins
So cool that chapel hill, Durham, and Charlotte has such thriving music scenes back then. Being from Charlotte it's pretty sick finding bands like Seam, Polvo, and Superchunk revolutionized indie music only 2 hours from where I live
DoughBoY Archers of Loaf too
I like to do polvo while listening Polvo.
Simply nostalgic though this is my first time here.
simply, one of most beautiful song
This is one of the most underrated songs ever. They have so many good songs. I always thought why this band haven’t got huge, they deserved to be one of the bests.
I wish the other kids my age were into this music. The only other person I know who likes Polvo is my Government teacher and he's 54.
Hey, atleast you know someone who liked Polvo!
Laughing as the sea disappears
I could never drown in any water this clear
But some day I know it will float into place
Like a click, and a tick when you stick and I'll stop
Not knowing all the minds you've read
They wash up to shore and wind up rescued instead
Maybe what they wanted was a bucket of lead
To weigh you down
I don't need another breaker
To say that you're fine
I can reach out and touch it
Just made you to try
I don't need another breaker
To say that you're fine
I can reach out and touch it
(It's fake)
It's just what you like
Now I wanna follow some sounds
To say that your fine
Your footsteps that lead me
The whole world in mine
Clapping as the sky comes clean
The whistler is playing like nothing I've seen
And shortly I'm waiting for all
The amused
You can do like a wretch to deflect and then move
Not knowing all the minds you've read
I wash up to shore and wind up rescued instead
Maybe what I wanted was a bucket of lead
I don't need to know their names
(Behind Me)
Say that you're fine
Your reflection's direction
(You're Fake)
Was made to try
Don't need a Tile Breaker
To say that you're fine
I can reach out and touch them
(It's fake)
It's just what you like
Yeah I want to follow some sounds
(Found Me)
So say that you're fine
Your footsteps will lead me
Your new world is mine
Polvo is the sound of youth.
To me, this IS 980's indie-rock. Encapsulates everything.
Forever one of the best bands of all time
One of the most underated bands ever
AGUANTE POLVO VIEJA!!!! DESDE ARGENTINA PAPAAAAH
+Brainhack. Esa es la actitud, es bueno ver otro argento por estos lados.

@KingCrimson776 - Being a teenager in NC in the early 90's was fuckin great. The Cradle had great sub

This never gets old
they played my club on their last tour I think it was 95...JUST PERFECT!
Good lord, what a good song.
couch as a drum stool. + 40 points

Read about Watkins, made me sad, listened to this, felt a bit better
One of my fav Polvo songs so damn good
Man I can't get enough of this band, the beautifully dissonant melodies. Anyone have any suggestions for other bands with a similar sound? Already have a lot of SY, AoL, Chavez, Helium, anyone I am missing?
well, there was Trumans Water
I know it's a ten years old comment, but the first 3 albums of Dinosaur Jr. are amazing.
11 years later, but unwound are also awesome
US Maple, Grifters, Rodan
Two other underrated NC bands of the era, The Raymond Brake and Solar Coaster. Lenola from Philly had a big Polvo influence imo.
This music is fucking crack. It is so addicting

god, this is what indie rock used to be, good music, experimental, different, "weird", almost revolutionary...nowdays its just shitty pop rock clones
you mean radiohead?
True indy died a bit before someone vomited the word grunge
10 years later and it still can be said. u were on point with this one

@dranfu Dave Brylawski is 100% in this video, unless has a twin brother?
polvo means octopus in portuguese!
Yeah No Age had some really cool stuff but nothing like new or innovative. The songs were like "Yeah this sounds like MBV!" and then I decided to listen to My Bloody Valentine.
Damn!!! Ternyata sound polvo lebih kotor dari nirvana..
@dranfu then who's playing...?
What do you call those bird things? I'm 16 and to this day I have no idea what they are :')
is this an advert for tramps' bicycles?
"Pollll-vo"
Anyone know the lyrics? I only find wrong lyrics online
+That Guy With the Crazy Hand after looking at the lyrics online and listening, this is as far as I can get:
