LQ4 & AR5 - The Ultimate Junkyard Duo! Manual LS swap using FABbot adapter!

- Putting together a junkyard LQ4 and an AR5 has got to be one of the cheapest ways to have a manual LS swap. We snagged this 6.0 out of a rotted out ‘07 1500HD, and picked up the AR5 out of a wrecked Colorado. All we needed to get after that was the Fabbot LS to AR5 adapter plate and a factory 4L60e bellhousing. We splurged a bit due to some future turbo plans and ordered a Summit Racing Turbo Cam. Throw everything together and you’re left with a stout junkyard setup for sub $1,000 that will be super maintainable by just stocking up on pull our motors and trans!

A few years back.. I used the fabbot kit and an lr4 4.8l in my 92 d21 scsb. The trans mount lined up with the Nissan cross member and put the cyl heads about 3/4 in from the firewall, all I had to make was motor mounts and exhaust
What a great pick n part. The one in my city is awful, staff is rude and act like you're bothering them even being there. They also cherry pick everything before it hits the yard. You'll never see anything but a super crusty 250k mile 99-00 4.8/5.3 and they'll charge you for every individual part attached to it. If it's anything that's a good deal, they've already stripped it beforehand.
Our guys at Horseheads Pick-a-part have been great! 👍🏻
I plan on doing the exact same thing I’d love to know what harness y’all used?
We ended up going Holley!
Faced my slave the same way you did doesn’t that put your bleeder at the bottom? I finally got mine running and having clutch issues. I seen another video guy faces his the other way so bleeder stays on top. Might have to rip mine apart if vacuum bleed doesn’t work.
Yes, we had to pull everything out and flip it so the clutch worked (in a later video if you want to check it out)
cool video guys, also like the new logo.tech tip for light ls projects trailblazer torque converters from behind the 4.2 mate right up with 04 and up 4l60e and will stall at about 2200 2400 depending on the weight of the project maybe more for 6.0
Thanks Willie! And that’s good info to know!
What bell housing did you use?
