I only play PCVR and I love my Pico 4 and this new Pico is something to look forward to. Good thing they are easy to get here in Asia and I got the Pico 4 for only around 250USD significantly cheaper than the Quest 3 and close to the Quest 2 prior.
A potential Pico 4 upgrade is the reason I didn't get a Quest 3. Still I do hope it's a little bit more than a Pico 4 with better/2 cameras and a better chipset. I also want to see some improvements to contrast and black levels (ideally there will also be an OLED version, but since there's nothing about a 2nd SKU I don't think that would happen. Though it's definitely possible without making it too expensive).

You literally ignoring all other benefits and aspects of it, if you care so much about that you shouldn't be buying it in first place, get AV1 GPU and you won't think about going back to Display port Yes you will get 10% or so clearer image with cable but who cares, having wireless freedom is a big yes for me
They did not cancel pico5, they said they changed their plans to an AVP competitor. And would only put out a refreshed version of Pico4. So they might still put out some more advanced headset at some point, and considering there already is one from china.. i dont think Pico is not going to do a headset like that also.

I hope; 1. I hope their QA is better because I got one of their Pico 4's and it had the lens manufacturing flaw and had to return it but I really like the form factor. Maybe my favorite to date. 2. I hope the facial interface is the same because I still have the aftermarket one I bought for the first one.
Completely different animals, easy decision if you have a high spec, as In £5000 pc lying around, quest does it all on its own. And if it is not purchased in high enough numbers forget about pico updates for it after a year or two.

I just bought the Quest 3 on sale, and I was looking to get the VR Cover exercise facial interface like I had on my Quest 2. It looks like VR Cover isn't supporting the Q3 like they did with the Q2. Are they no longer supporting Quest products? Is there an alternative facial interface similar to the Q2 fitness interface? The extra airflow made VR much more enjoyable for me.
Thanks for the video! I've been a big fan of what Pico has done with their Pico 4 up to this point. Good software updates (minus standalone library) for both the headset and PC connection, so I'm eager to see how the new version works. Fingers crossed they manage to release it in the US this time so they can actually compete against Meta, but I'm not holding my breath...

Can v67 remember multiple scanned rooms yet? That really needs to be fixed. Currently, every time I switch rooms, the entire room needs to be re-scanned, even though I had saved and named it. Is there something I’m doing wrong, or this just isn’t fixed yet?
The Pico 4S (or Elite) will very hard to get in the States, but I'm gonna give it the ol' college try when it comes out. Hope they're going to keep the basic physical design, as (once I add my custom facial interface and AMVR's overpriced, but very useful "halo" addition) it's the headset I have the easiest time keeping on for longer play sessions. Like others here have said, if Pico includes Displayport--which I'm not expecting, honestly--well, I'll be walking across hot coals to get hold of one.

I have to be honest I used it mostly for PCVR, as most of people I think, and in the period when is was the only alternative to the quest 2, it has pancake lenses, higher res screens and better comfort, so for me it was a no brainier, but yeah, you have a point of course, talking about exclusives, games and passthrough now compared to the quest, it would make no sense. But we really need competition GT :) and new headsets are what I love, don't take it away from me 😂

Pico has to date fell short, higher prices and not enough content (not supporting app developers). Highly doubt anything will change here. People tend to go for lower quality Chinese teq when its much cheaper thats about it.
The PC software needs some updates like Passthrough and to improve the UI for multitasking and using a PC. It's bad for using a PC on the MetaLink, Virtual Desktop craps on it.
pico 4 2160x2160 still has lower ppd then Q3 thanks to its wide FOV and the fact you can never see the display edges. Screen door is also more noticable, really hoped for a bump in resolution
Pretty sure that the impression of most reviewers across the boards was that Pico 4 actually had a far less noticable screen door effect compared to the Quest 3 (and also that it was more comfortable out of the box and has better weight distribution. Though Quest 3 has an edge in video quality, contrast and colours. Of course, this is about the PC VR experience so I'm not comparing their standalone libraries).
@@Gregoses I suppose individual experience may vary. I feel like a resolution of around 2500x2500 or so should be enough for the screendoor effect to become a non-issue. Meta should've pushed for that kind of resolution with the Q3... and they didn't. And the next Pico 5 was gonna have that by default... which then got canned and now we're getting a Pico 4S instead which seems to be a Pico 4 with a new chip.
I have a Bigscreen Beyond, and at this point I just want better VR games. What we have right now feels like a fraction of the quality it could be. Most of the "new amazing experiences" most VR youtubers rant and rave about seem very mid at best, with most of their videos leaving out the details about the jank and how much it holds back in terms of a VR experience, just so that they can sell them to more casual audiences.
The problem is getting enough people to buy a vr headset, the bigger the base the more updates and better releases down the line. Once oled screens drop in price and they lighten the headset, improve software and the experience at quest 3 prices they will succeed, but needing a £5000 pc will not get the customer base needed to grow over the years.
With the Quest's new multi-tasking capabilities - can you connect it to a PC for productivity work? I really want to be able to stream/spawn PC apps in their own dedicated windows and pin them around me in my virtual environment. I have tried immersed but it's not very performant and, though this generation of headset doesn't have the same resolution as my 1440p screen, I imagine the next generation will get us there. I'd love to have a VR headset as small and lightweight as the big screen beyond with hand tracking and maybe pass through to replace my monitors as my productivity environment. I'm a software engineer - having my terminal floating to the left, my IDE and browser pinned in the middle and chat/music apps pinned to the right would absolutely kick ass.

Sold my Pico 4, way to little updates, small library, but mostly only 90 Hz. What good is a displayport, when you're still only going to be able to go 90 Hz.!
A lot of the PCVR headsets I can think of are 90Hz max aside from the Valve Index. Plus even with the most top of the line consumer hardware (RTX 4090 GPU) you’re going to struggle to even maintain 90fps in even less demanding titles like iRacing. Aside from maybe titles like Beat Saber, there’s few games high end hardware would even maintain consistent frame rates higher than 90. I find 90 to be a great sweet spot. I have a 165hz monitor and I like to have a minimum of 60fps in story games, 90fps ideally for a good blend of visual quality and frame in sim racing and such, and 120+ only in competitive shooters.
@TarzanGTI True a lot of them afe 90 Hz., but i would say especially for sim games you'd want smooth refresh rate, fast action the more the better, hardware wise just scale back the grafics. 144Hz. on the Index i loved, to me 120 is the swedt spot, haha. Also these are entry level headsets you'd want people new to VR to have it smooth,for the best experience. 90 just feels past gen to me.
@@Tyrielwood i do all ready know about that Iv made a video on that my self its just i cant let my g2 go i love it too much its one of the best head sets i own and i was just hopeing for a better option for controllers and tracking for it but it doent give me too much problems tho in tracking i still want it to be better. i have base stations and want to get index controllers but i dont know if i want to do it that way yet. i wish i could also use quest pro controllers with it but those connect in a different way. that why i wanted to know and i hope some one comes out for a fix for the g2 to keep it working still. i hate what microsoft is doing

I was initially drawn to Pico's attempt to compete with Meta in the VR market, but upon further reflection, I don't believe Pico can truly rival Meta due to their vastly different visions for the metaverse. While Meta sees the metaverse as a revolutionary new way to communicate, conduct business, and even find love, Pico's approach seems more focused on hardware and replicating Meta's strategy. However, Meta's resources, market share, and head start make it extremely difficult for Pico to catch up. The future of the metaverse remains uncertain, and it will take more than just hardware and imitation to succeed in this space.
Pico has like this weird small cult following and those people love it. Most people could care less about it. It doesn’t have the operating system. It doesn’t have the ecosystem and It doesn’t get nearly enough updates to compete with Meta.
How can you justify or even suggest the Apple Vison Pro as a gaming Headset, price has to come into the equation when recommending any gaming device. The Apple doesn't come with controllers and so there's an extra $500 on top of the $3400+US, the Apple isn't cordless and it only recently has access to Steam, but since it can't connect like the Quest 3 and has to stream, you get all the problems people get with streaming 4K Movies. Yes with an updated WiFi system and WiFi extenders and Boosters, you can now get a good WiFi experience as long as there isn't a storm or people using the Microwave regularly or similar devices. The Quest 3 is at a price a five person family can afford to each have a Quest 3 as well as a few games and accessories for the price of one Apple Vison Pro with no controllers. Steam doesn't come free with any Headset and so you still need to buy the Games through Steam, so don't make out that you get all those Steam games as you make it sound like all those games are there to play, sure once you purchase them. Normal people that already have a PC and not an Apple Mac, will probably already have a Steam Library, like I do, since I have had a PC since 1989, I have a steam Library of about 100 games all able to play on my Quest 3 for only $799AU, I bought each of my Grand Children a Quest 3 as well, which would have cost me over $30,000AU had I bought them an Apple Vision Pro, how sensible is that to recommend to anyone, sure I could have afforded it as I am a self funded retiree, but I would rather use that $25,000 for a few Holidays with my Grand Kids, than for an over priced piece of Apple junk, I repair Mobiles and Tablets as well as Macs, so I know how badly built they are and the Vision Pro won't be any different. Apple loves to rip off their Fan Boys as they know how stupid they are.
Most of the big Meta fans had problem with the Vision Pro not having controllers. Ofcourse a lot of them also had problem with the price but you can’t solve that people are broke. But you can give it controllers

There problem is pricing and why the quest is the number one vr headset for a decade. A balance of performance and quality gets sales not a slightly better system selling for 10 times as much. Maybe when they have 180 degree field of vision at 4k and pass through fixed to feel more natural and battery like extended and weight reduced, and selling for under the 500 mark, more people will buy, but right now after trying the quest 3 the vr world needs huge improvements at low cost to grab the attention of enough people. Bought a quest from amazon and returned it after a week as it is , even being the best, not where vr needs to be yet. Yeah it can be fun but just not something I would use more than. A few times a week, and eventually thow it in a drawer and forget about it.

It's a cheap $200 headset....it may have sold 20 million, but it wasn't long ago that the monthly user base was only 2 million, which is 10% of owners, with 18 million Quest 2 in the back of closets. Since Quest 3, Assasins Creed, the announcement of Batman & some 3rd party games, along with a supposed graphical upgrade through software patch for Quest 2, the user base increased to 6 million, which is impressive. But let's be honest here, Quest 3 is a phone chip with PS3 graphics at the end of the day. Quality over quantity.
HTC can’t compete with meta as they don’t have a chance of making so much money from selling user data. So they just can’t make cheap enough headsets. But they have a lot of good idea, just not for commercial users.

Its not. Meta releases peak PPD numbers, pico released average PPD for Pico4. You cant compare those numbers.

The problem is more of the G2 working to be honest, thanks to Microsoft she its making our headsets paperweight

How can you justify or even suggest the Apple Vison Pro as a gaming Headset, price has to come into the equation when recommending any gaming device.
The Apple doesn't come with controllers and so there's an extra $500 on top of the $3400+US, the Apple isn't cordless and it only recently has access to Steam, but since it can't connect like the Quest 3 and has to stream, you get all the problems people get with streaming 4K Movies.
Yes with an updated WiFi system and WiFi extenders and Boosters, you can now get a good WiFi experience as long as there isn't a storm or people using the Microwave regularly or similar devices.
The Quest 3 is at a price a five person family can afford to each have a Quest 3 as well as a few games and accessories for the price of one Apple Vison Pro with no controllers.
Steam doesn't come free with any Headset and so you still need to buy the Games through Steam, so don't make out that you get all those Steam games as you make it sound like all those games are there to play, sure once you purchase them.
Normal people that already have a PC and not an Apple Mac, will probably already have a Steam Library, like I do, since I have had a PC since 1989, I have a steam Library of about 100 games all able to play on my Quest 3 for only $799AU, I bought each of my Grand Children a Quest 3 as well, which would have cost me over $30,000AU had I bought them an Apple Vision Pro, how sensible is that to recommend to anyone, sure I could have afforded it as I am a self funded retiree, but I would rather use that $25,000 for a few Holidays with my Grand Kids, than for an over priced piece of Apple junk, I repair Mobiles and Tablets as well as Macs, so I know how badly built they are and the Vision Pro won't be any different.

Most of the big Meta fans had problem with the Vision Pro not having controllers. Ofcourse a lot of them also had problem with the price but you can’t solve that people are broke. But you can give it controllers

The same Sony that just announced Astrobot flat? The same sony that didn't port their psvr1 exclusive on psvr2? The same Sony that made psvr2 working on PC without any of the good features of PSVR2? I can go on for another couple of shots probably
There problem is pricing and why the quest is the number one vr headset for a decade. A balance of performance and quality gets sales not a slightly better system selling for 10 times as much. Maybe when they have 180 degree field of vision at 4k and pass through fixed to feel more natural and battery like extended and weight reduced, and selling for under the 500 mark, more people will buy, but right now after trying the quest 3 the vr world needs huge improvements at low cost to grab the attention of enough people. Bought a quest from amazon and returned it after a week as it is , even being the best, not where vr needs to be yet. Yeah it can be fun but just not something I would use more than. A few times a week, and eventually thow it in a drawer and forget about it.

It's a cheap $200 headset....it may have sold 20 million, but it wasn't long ago that the monthly user base was only 2 million, which is 10% of owners, with 18 million Quest 2 in the back of closets. Since Quest 3, Assasins Creed, the announcement of Batman & some 3rd party games, along with a supposed graphical upgrade through software patch for Quest 2, the user base increased to 6 million, which is impressive. But let's be honest here, Quest 3 is a phone chip with PS3 graphics at the end of the day. Quality over quantity.

HTC can’t compete with meta as they don’t have a chance of making so much money from selling user data. So they just can’t make cheap enough headsets. But they have a lot of good idea, just not for commercial users.

is the pico g2 4k any good for sim racing anyone? for 80 bucks on ebay.. or should i just get quest 2 headset only for 40-60$ i only use VR for sim racing. so i only need a headset
