Real NES Classic Compared to Fake NES Classic

- I picked up a used NES Classic at a thrift store a few weeks ago cheap. It looked like the real thing until I went to use it. Yesterday I got a real NES Classic and I compare the two.
Both boxes are real, the one on the left with the seal bottom right is from last year's run, and the one with the rating bottom right is from the recent release. Looks like someone dropped a clone in a real box and kept the original system.

The kid playing Pacman was pretty good at it. It's strange how a lot of us were so good at these older games as kids but they seem harder as adults. Lol.
I think it has to do with time and what type of gaming you do now. If you stayed playing these retro games your responses would be as good.
bdel80 Well I mean there are a couple of games I beat as a kid but can’t now. Super Ghouls and Ghosts, for instance. I beat that as a kid but can’t even get past the ship level. Lol
I feel the same way playing these games today I used to get way over 200.000 on Pac man when I was a kid I had a pattern for every board

Did you notice it says "Mege Man 2" at the main screen at 6:16? It's also not in all caps like the legit version.
I just picked up an nes classic and i'm pretty sure it's a fake. The light is white, super Mario sounds like trash, tecmo bowl doesn't work, i can't use the save state, change screen sizes, use factory reset, can only pick english from the language choices, controls lag a bit to respond. i'm sending it back. thanks so much for this video. I feel justified telling the seller it's not a real nes console.
I got a NES Classic at Target for $59.99 and it looked so real but, win I went to set it up it had no HDMI just a AV plug for AV cables and win I turned it on it had on the screen 600 n 1 games. I was so mad I took it back and then went to game stop and got a real one there. It makes me sick that people are spending hard earned money on knock off crap. You would think there would be some law about this seeing that the fake one I got was a Target of all places you would think Target would at least know not to sell fakes or know what there suppliers have the real ones or not.
Target has the real ones. Someone must had pulled a switcharoo. Bought the real one. Switched it with the fake and returned it for a full refund

Target resealed it after getting it returned and the lady didnt care that it was resealed noticably ?
Or target purposely sealed it very well to hide the fact that it was a return ?

I don't know if you noticed, but there's also a difference in the OS in general. For example, the OS on the real thing scrolls left and right as you go through the games. With the bootleg, it uses what I'm going to call "static pages," since there's no actual scrolling animation going on.

I got the same thing with the music slow-down off Amazon. The thing looked so real. Box and all. I suspected it of being fake and they were good about refunding me. I see that my local Walmart has them in stock again and I thought about picking one up but I’m almost afraid they might be fake also and WM simply doesn’t know. Thanks for the video. Yours was the first I watched which showed the same sound problem.
If be pretty confident that the Walmart ones are legit.

That's crazy the NES Classic that just came out in the 29 it's box art work looks a lot like the pirated one
I wanted so much a fake of these, since I can not get an original, I was already happy with the copy!
I live in Europe. The european version doesn't have a power adapter. Also on the box near the number 30 in the yellow "star" there are box arts of SMB and some other game.
MEGAMAN2 was a game that's more well known for the awesome music. Now they just take it away??? What the shit??!!??
I know this is way late.. but the Real NES mini looks a bit slowed down compared to a original model.
Does anyone know where I can get the real NES Classic Edition? I looked on Amazon once and I noticed some fake ones related to this, but instead of 30 games it said 600 games on it.
Still looking myself. The only way to get one right now is if you find a scalper who is selling it for $200-$300 or by buying a used one on eBay, which is also tricky because postings include the knock off consoles.

There is an easy way if the box is sealed, look at Metroid it doesn't have the TM letters and the original does.
I got a clone that I opened and it took an SD card. It also would run the homebrew The Legend of Link.
i have one made in Frankfurt germany but its actually official
two suggestions, the kernel might be corrupted from someone hacking it and screwing something up. Or is there chance there is signs of water damage? Did you try taking the "bootleg one" apart?
nevermind just saw your previous video where you took it apart. Still an interesting find for 25$
C. P. C. Yes I look it apart, it has a completely different motherboard in it and the controllers aren't compatible. It's a knockoff. Check out my Twitter if you get a chance. I tweeted about it.

I have real games from my Nintendo from the early 90s... Can I put those original games in this new tiny new system???
They're is a device in one of my other videos were you can connect super Nintendo games to this, but it's complicated.

First one is a bootleg for sure is the serial number CU202496144? I have a 2016 original legit a 2018 legit one and 4 bootlegs the look like the real damn thing! I also have 2 other bootlegs that dont have the same box art they just say anniversary edition 500 games I always like collecting bootleg stuff it amazes me how close that one in your video looks like the real damb thing I have that same one

This is the FAKE version. It even said MEGE MAN... We have reviewed this one earlier! This one is a clone console from China! It had as very bad BOARD. After a while they also DIE! and it's missing music on some games!
They also daked the SNES mini which almost looked perfect to the real deal until you hook it up!

It is fake you can tell by the os blue and the colors of the controller is different colors lighter and the console is more beige color damn had me fooled for real!! I’m lucky I got a original 2016 model for $69 on eBay I’m very very lucky as they are very hard and rare to come by these days most of them on eBay are fake except the 2018 model at least for now

Noo We have reviewed this too (a while ago on our Channel) The box is exactly the same as the real one. They copy it pretty good! They also made a SNES clone a few weeks back which looks even more real!

Which one? The bootleg or the real deal? I'd much sooner do that with the bootleg, if I ended up with one, but I would probably figure out how to make the Pi compatible with the Classic Controllers first. I'd probably also end up adding PS/2 keyboard support because "WHY NOT?"
