This was just the video I was looking for! I am a high school student looking to be a nurse and this helped me a lot. I love your videos, you are so inspiring and give a lot of good information!
I am learning in medical high school and my teacher in physics is saying if you want to be a nurse you have to understand and know physic... But I didn't understand either why I have to know physic to be a nurse
Does it need to be university courses? I took all college courses for 11 and 12 because I was struggling in 9 and 10 with academic courses. Is it possible for me to become an rn with college courses?
Hi caroline! I've just started watching your videos. I'm in 11th grade and planning on nursing school. My GPA is a 3.8 and i'm signed up for anatomy for next semester. My goal is molloy college or adelphi university in long island. You're videos are fascinating and are really helping me become more and more focused toward my goal everyday. Thank you so much! You're amazing!! -Cassidy
Hi Cassidy! It is so nice to hear from you! Wow, you are doing great! Keep up the good work!! Thanks so much for letting me know that you like the videos!! Keep in touch & let me know if you need anything else!! Looking forward to hearing from you again soon!! xoxo - Caroline
Hey! Love your videos they are truly inspirational. I'm a junior in high school and I'm struggling with anatomy I just can't seem to learn the information we are given. Any thoughts? Oh during my first two years of high school I did pretty bad with my science classes, will that hurt me down the road? If so what can I do to increase my chances of finishing high school with a strong solid G.P.A? I really love nursing and your videos inspire and motivate me to achieve my dreams and for that I really do thank you😄
Andrei Hurduc Hi Andrei! It is really nice to hear from you! So sorry for the late reply... I got really behind... I do have a lot of tips for A&P, I actually have a whole video/audio/pdf course that I think will help you a lot. I started out making a 40% on my first exam and ended with very very high grades... enough to start nursing school with a cumulative gpa of 3.7... I go over all the tips in the program... You can find it on my website! Just so you know, it is a digital program & I set it to a pay what you want/can mode. Here is the link: empowern.com/2014/06/how-to-study-for-anatomy-physiology/ I really hope this helps you a lot :) Much Love, - Caroline
Hi Caroline! My name is Emily and I have recently discovered my passion for nursing! I am a high school student and I volunteer in my local hospital in multiple units and I absolutely love it! I had a few questions about what I could do to get myself ahead in the nursing process! I have watched your videos for high school students and I have been doing everything you mentioned, but I still have a few questions! Would it be helpful for me to take a class at my local community college while I am still in high school to become a Certified Nursing Assistant? I have heard that this was one way I could get ahead, but I didn’t know if it was practical or worth it for me to do! Also, would it be beneficial to intern at my hospital instead of just volunteering? I didn't know if it would make any difference! Thank you so much and I absolutely LOVE your videos! They make me so excited to become a nurse! Sincerely, Emily
I just started taking physics and I can’t do it, it’s too hard. I want to drop the class but I don’t want to not get into college because of it. Please help! I want to be a SANE. It’s my senior year, I’ve already taken earths science, biology, and chemistry.
Hi, I need help should I take calc ab ap or statap. I struggle with math a lot and even though I know that stat is much easier. what do you recommend me to take? Thank you, Angie
Hi I'm in my final year of high school. I have a 4.0 GPA but I'm still undecided yet on what I really want to do but nursing in on my top list. What if you took Chemistry, physics and biology; do you still have to take the Aps. Math isn't really my subject, I pretty do well and have a passing grade in them. I haven't taken Geometry, is it require? I'm taking psychology this semester. I will taking the SAT and ACT this fall. I don't know if I'm confuse or scared from what I heard from people in the nursing field. I like the profession and what they do.
Thanks for making these videos. I'm only 16 and my cousin talked me into pursuing a nursing career (he's reaallly high up and is STILL in school) I'm excited but so nervous I'mma fail at it thanks for giving me confidence and for not lying and saying its a breeze!!
llExcusesll my health took a horrible turn when I was 17 so unfortunately no, I’m not. I’ve been in the hospital in ways I definitely hadn’t expected. When I get better (for I have to open I will) I think I’m going to go into teaching. I love caring for people but now in my life I think I love children just a tab bit more.
Hello. I need advice. I am not good at math at all and I was placed in Chemistry for this school year. (I'm a sophmore btw) My guidance counselor told me she could put me into physical science and I could take chemistry next year. In my senior year I was planning on taking anatomy and physiology. Should i take physical science this year, chem junior year and anatomy and physiology senior year since i struggle so much with math. Or should i take chemistry this year. Also if u dont take any ap science classes can u get into a nursing program?
ZaRa♡ Hi ZaRa! IT is really nice to hear from you! You know, it is a little hard to say... the math in chemistry was hard for me. However I do believe in facing your challenges hard on. Does your school provide tutoring? I know your in high school... and a lot of schools provide tutors for free!! I'm sorry I can't be more help... just listen to yourself love :) xoxo - Caroline
If you don't take them in high school, you'll need to take pre-nursing to get the prerequisites done (for an associates degree). Then you'll move on to nursing BA, etc. Don't overly stress yourself out. Take what you can handle and push yourself more but not to the point you can't focus. Perhaps you'll need to put in more effort with tutoring, maybe YT videos by real instructors (that's helped me out). If you don't get it all in within high school, know you have options in college too. Just you might have to do the prereqs. Also, visit a college of your choice and ask them. They'll be happy to help you out as well. Best of luck!
Can you recommend inspirational books for would-be nurses in 2014? For example, previous generations had the Cherry Ames books. Any such now? Or even individual books that inspire to nursing?
did you say you recommend taking physics? if so would you say physics 11 is enough or is physics 12 preferred?also would you recommend taking calculus or is pre caluclus okay? (even better yet foundations of pre calculus)?
i attend to a pre-collegiate health career program will that look good on my resume? & also what classes do you recomend for me to take my senior year so i could be more prepared when i go to college next year ? & also am really good at science but i struggle in math ,could i still study to be a nurse even though i struggle in math?
Do you recommend becoming a CNA before becoming an RN or achieving a BSN? I was thinking about becoming a CNA after I graduate high-school so I can gain experience and work as a CNA whilst in nursing school. Or is becoming a CNA before unnecessary? Idk I kind of like planning early, currently a junior.
im in sophomore year of hs and im taking a child growth/development class which is actually a college credit course, junior and senior year im taking a hands on running start course in medicine and im part of fccla which is gr8 on resumes and im becoming a state officer for it(which is a biiiiiig leadership role) this year. plus im taking all honors and high honors courses in major classes like science and math. hopefully this is good enough ... i really want ti becone a neonatal nurse
Hi! I really want to be a nurse. I'm in my 9th grade, and I'm planning to study for nursing abroad. My grades are really good. May I ask for standards in choosing a good school for my 11th and 12th grades?
Hi, my name is Eline i am in 11th grade in high school and i wanted to know what i can do next. I am currently going to a normal high school in the morning and in the afternoon i go to a Tech. center for Nursing Aide. On my senior year, i will go to the tech. center for Pre Nursing. but after that i don't know what to do next. would you please help me.
Hi Caroline, Am Joselyn am a junior in high school ,what would be the difference between a pediatric nurse & a neonatal nurse? ,Also do you recommend taking AP science classes ? Also i volunteer at my local hospital will that be good on my resume for getting into a nursing school ? & should i start looking for schools i want to attend for college ? By the way i love your videos they inspire me to become a nurse (:
I want to go to nursing school, but the math involved in nursing school is holding me back. I graduated in 2005 and while I was in school I never had to take Algebra. I am taking college classes online and I do have the algebra classes, but since I didn't take Algebra in high school I'm not doing good. Are there any other ways to help me in as algebra?
Hi Maria, I really don't have any specific tips for algebra. I had to take a college remedial algebra class to get myself up to the college level though & that helped a lot. Maybe that could be an option for you... Sorry I'm not more help!! xoxo
Thanks for the video, my name is Ameera. I have a question? I want to become a nurse and I will graduate this month from high school, but I am ESL learning which mean i am speak Arabic language and learn English. Do you think nursing will be hard for me because i am ESL or not and what the different between RN and LPN.
I wanna be a pediatric register nurse and I stress all the time and worry I won't be good enough or smart enough to get into A nursing school. I passed algreba with an A and algrebra 2 with one A and one C alos I passed biology with an B.Now I am in chemistry and I am really struggling. My.teacher really doesn't explain things a lot and even when I am trying my best I still got an D for the semester and I am so scared that now I won't he able to get into nursing school because of that grade and because I am not to well at chemistry so I think what I am trying to say is do you have to be extremely good at chemistry to be a nurse and does that ruin my changes at being a nurse?
Destiney Mccaslin Hi Destiney! It is really nice to hear from you!! In my opinion, you just have to get through Chemistry... but I have never used any of it on the job. Just do your best to get the highest grade possible... maybe even retake it with another professor if you have to. But don't let that stop you ;) See you soon!! Much Love, - Caroline
Hi! I'm really interested in nursing but some schools have a program that lets you go directly in the nursing program. I'm not sure whether or not it's a good thing because I don't want to start off nursing program right away. Really frustrated..... I rather do my two years of prerequisites then apply to nursing school to see if I really want to do nursing. Please need feedback
So even if you do well in your first two years of college, when applying for nursing school, they still look at your high school grades? I'm an upcoming senior in highschool with a 3.1 gpa which is scaring me!! Love your videos!
Hi Casey! They do not look at is as heavily as the grades from your pre-reqs! But some schools may look at it. Bottom line, just focus on what you can do from here on out ;) Thanks so much for letting me know!! xoxo - Caroline
Hi Caroline! Does working at a nursing home as a dietary aide during high school look good to colleges? I also volunteered at this nursing home for 2 months during my sophomore year.....since that's not a lot of volunteer time, would colleges look down upon that?
Hey I got a question. When you learn your clinical skills in school like giving shots, giving IV's passing meds, doing vital signs and wound care what subject where you on caroline?
Hi!! I'm now a sophmore in high school and I've been interested in nursing forever! My GPA freshman year was around a 3.4/3.5 (89%) I My biology all around grade was an 83, but I mastered the state exam with an 86. For algebra my overall average was an 84. English has always been my strong suit, but I'm way more interested in math&science. Next year for math I'm taking geometry and for science I'm taking Earth Science. After chemistry junior year, I either want to take Physics or AP bio, but I'm wondering which is better for nursing? And for math senior year I'm wondering whether to take calculus or probably an AP algebra. I'm still trying to figure out what's better for nursing. I'm going to try to get my overall GPA in the 90s this year because I know nursing schools are super competitive.
+Erin McDonald if you want to get into nursing, definitely AP Bio. Physics isn't too important, but it's nice to have an intro to it before college/university [watching videos or reading]. As the nurse said in the video, algebra is important, but again, like physics, it's nice to get an intro. In some states, they allow 15 yr. olds or 16 year olds to actually volunteer in hospitals, which looks extremely good. Good luck :]
Hi Caroline! :) i need advice on becoming a nurse. I have a few questions that i have already sent to your email. Im really looking forward to hearing from you soon! :) I enjoyed watching your video and thank you for the tips. i'll definitley be watching more of your videos.
I'm a senior and I'm think to become a nurse ,but I can't take AP class. I have just regular classes and not a good grade. I wondering to ask you how to study. Should I plan for others career? Or try to do it first?
Just wondering, I'm planning to take both Biology Honors and Chemistry Honors, and both AP Bio and AP Chem. Is it really a necessity to take Physics in High school?
*Hey there*! Medical high school depends on which direction you are going for. Obviously, if you are going to be a nurse, then i would *definitely* say that Physics, as a subject, is totally unnecessary to take. Physiotherapists *do need* to take Physics for the very obvious reasons. The angle of some body part etc... If i look back at my high school, i would say that in my freshmen year i've had a lot of *unimportant* subjects to take. Can you guess for which i studied for a long amount of hours? Anatomy and Health Care were my priorities. So, my advice for you would be to take it easy. High school is also not hard at all, at least that's how i look at it from my perspective. Your GPA obviously matter for the school you will be applying for when you graduate from high school, but it's nothing to be obsessed about or over worried. Just take it easy, and try to remember *as much as you can*, especially from subjects like Anatomy and Health Care etc... I hope this helped.
Depends on your college, it is a little different everywhere. Your guidance councilor should have a list, just give them a quick visit. I hope this helps!!
Hi! I am really considering going into nursing in college, but I haven't taken any health science classes in high school besides anatomy. I am worried that I would be behind everyone else. I have taken all my science classes through the honors program and am very strong in math. Should I think of doing something else because of my lack of health science classes? Thanks!
If I want to become a nurse/health science pathway, would it be better to take chem and then AP Chem or chem and AP Physics? I know Chemistry is important for health science majors but physics is also recommended in High School
Hello, I'm an italian nurse student, I'm in last year, need a few months and I'll get the degree. The thing is, how come I never used algebra in my short experience in the hospital? I actually forgot all of my algebra background I had in high school. Could you list some exaples where you needed to use algebra? Thanks!
This may be a ridiculous question but I was speaking to a girl at work and she told we you can get your nursing license through "on the job training" is there any truth to this?
Hi caroline , I have another question, will i have a better opportunity to getting accepted into nursing school after am done with the prerequisites ,because i have some family members that are nurses?
Okay will I don’t have a gap of 4.0 more like 3.0 and I suck at math but I’m good at science I still think I can make it you don’t have to be a straight A student to be a nurse if you work hard you can make it
Also right now as a sophomore my GPA is a 3.3 I don't know if that will be good enough or if I can keep it there I am always just so stressed out about it
Destiney Mccaslin You know it really depends on the school & program! Most programs use a point system, giving more points to science classes. I hope this helps!! xoxo - Caroline
Hi im a sophomore in high school i know this video was three years ago but i have a question about if ur gpa is around 2.1-2.6 or 8 is there still anyway for you to become a nurse??? Thank you soo much i would appreciate if you answer my question.
Hi, I need you advice/opinion. I'm a sophomore in high school and want to become a nurse. I was wondering if my height will be a problem if I go into nursing. I'm 4 feet 10 inches.
Abigail Maiella Hi Abigail! It is really nice to hear from you! I know a lot of nurses who are about that height... and they are some of the best around ;) Don't let that stop you! Nursing is all about teamwork!! See you soon!! xoxo - Caroline
Im really interested in being a phsyciatric nurse. Im a junior in high school and i currently have a 2.8 which frankly scares me alot. I was just wondering if you think I have a chance in getting into a university that has a nursing program. Thank you!
I am the world's worst at math ... but my dream is to be a nurse I'm really good in science though and ela and my school has cna classes any advice about me being horrible at math
Math is definitely hard, but its never impossible. The main thing for me is to make sure and ASK QUESTIONS when you want to know something or don't understand something. Always do any practice you can and go over what you learn. Math is just really difficult for some people, but as long as you learn basic facts and push yourself to make good grades, you'll be great. Good luck on that nursing dream 💜
Who else always dreamed of becoming a nurse ever since they were little 😊
Me
Nope I just started 😑

Well I never though of being a nurse till I got sick with Covid. And I realized I want to help people.
Nursing stresses for 4.0 grades. Practice and study- a lot.
I am really good at sciences but I suck at math... I can do the basic math, and algebra.. do you think I could just kind of wing it?
Yes
I want to be a nurse. I will be in 10th grade this june.
I want to be a nurse and I'm finishing up tenth grade right now :)

Thank you! I actually have training at my local hospital today because i am a junior volunteer now! :)
This was just the video I was looking for! I am a high school student looking to be a nurse and this helped me a lot. I love your videos, you are so inspiring and give a lot of good information!
I have a question did u become a nurse
I was wondering for what purpose you would need to know physics for nursing. Thank you for the video!
+Eymari Yinalen Never figured it out either lol!
But just do your best to ace it!!
You need good grades & you can do it ;)

One more question, did you go to a university right after highschool? Or a community college then transferred?
I first went to a community college & then transferred
:)
Can I still become nurse when I don't know lot of science and math or you're English learner.
Hey! Love your videos they are truly inspirational. I'm a junior in high school and I'm struggling with anatomy I just can't seem to learn the information we are given. Any thoughts? Thanks for the video! I hope to pursue a BSN in nursing too and was wondering you can still take pre-med classes right?
Guys, you don;t have to get a 4.0. It's not that hard to get into a nursing school. Yes it does if it is a big school.

I'm going into highschool and i'm already thinking about this
Bottom line, just focus on what you can do from here on out ;)
Thanks so much for letting me know!!

Thank you so much! Your videos are so helpful :)
Precious Mb. Hi Love! Thanks so much!! Will get to the email asap... sorry, got super behind... xoxo!!
I'm Sarah. i liked your video. Cause i want to be a nurse someday. Can a nurse be a doctor too like a full physician or does one have to choose?
WHAT CLASSES DO I TAKE EXACTLY STARTING FRESHMAN YEAR
Depends on your college, it is a little different everywhere. Your guidance councilor should have a list, just give them a quick visit. I hope this helps!!
Me :
Hi caroline ,
I have another question, will i have a better opportunity to getting accepted into nursing school after am done with the prerequisites ,because i have some family members that are nurses?
Okay will I don’t have a gap of 4.0 more like 3.0 and I suck at math but I’m good at science I still think I can make it you don’t have to be a straight A student to be a nurse if you work hard you can make it
Also right now as a sophomore my GPA is a 3.3 I don't know if that will be good enough or if I can keep it there I am always just so stressed out about it
Destiney Mccaslin You know it really depends on the school & program! Most programs use a point system, giving more points to science classes.
I hope this helps!!

Would I still be able to get into a nursing program even if I didn't take Chemistry?
Hi im a sophomore in high school i know this video was three years ago but i have a question about if ur gpa is around 2.1-2.6 or 8 is there still anyway for you to become a nurse??? Thank you soo much i would appreciate if you answer my question.
Has anyone took CLEP COurses?
Hi, I need you advice/opinion. I'm a sophomore in high school and want to become a nurse. I was wondering if my height will be a problem if I go into nursing. I'm 4 feet 10 inches.
Abigail Maiella Hi Abigail!
It is really nice to hear from you!
I know a lot of nurses who are about that height... and they are some of the best around ;)
Don't let that stop you!
Nursing is all about teamwork!!
See you soon!!

Abigail Maiella Your welcome :)
Did you end up in nursing school?
What if you are horrible at maths but amazing at science.
Which is my case
This was very helpful
Im really interested in being a phsyciatric nurse. Im a junior in high school and i currently have a 2.8 which frankly scares me alot. I was just wondering if you think I have a chance in getting into a university that has a nursing program. Thank you!
how did things work out for you? I'm in a similar situation
I want to become nurse but do I have to do so much math and science
You need to stop telling people it is so hard and that they need a 4.0
I have a problem !! I didn't do chemistry in grade 11 I'm going to grade 12 what do I do ?
Gabriel Alberto didn’t go into nursing at all! Just knew it wasn’t for me!
I want to be an midwife
I'm only 10 I'm will to college to become a nurse
Is nursing a good premed degree?
It helps for a Physician Assistant degree, if that helps.
