Thank you for the Bali reviews, super interesting to hear, as we are Bali fans, considering a few of the hotels, you showed us which gave us a fair overview., but so far we are mainly staying, in rented huge luxury villas, directly on the coast, with car, driver, butler, security, maid and chef, not that expensive, but more private, food what we want, when and where we want. Definitely worth considering if visiting Bali again, if you like luxury and value privacy and staff at hand 24/7, for your needs only.
Is there a reason, why you normally only do Marriott hotels? Is it club points only related or why?
I was just thinking, there are true luxury hotels and hotel chains, that leaves Marriott behind in the dust.
We stayed in, a $7.300 A NIGHT, Grace Kelly signature suite, at Hotel danieli Venice (at that time, still a Marriott hotel), during the off season, for a December Christmas shopping trip.
It was… let’s say it like this, the most expensive suite, we so far have stayed in, and by far (except the view), the most disappointing, worn, tiered looking suite, without flowers, a bathroom so small, that most standard bathrooms, in a 3 star hotel would be bigger, no personal butler service, nothing but the room, a cheap bottle of red wine and a few Italian cookies.
Now that is for me, a lot of money, with no luxury factor what so ever.
I really want to try the AMAN group, they seem to have some nice properties, around the world, with a modern, minimalistic sense of luxury understanding.
But our trip next week, is going to Soneva Kiri, Thailand.
Soneva is all about, “no news no shoes”, simple, Robinson Crusoe styled, low key, quiet, nature based luxury.
The Soneva group, is not only known to be super exclusive, with only 4 resorts world wide, but even before our arrival, we are blown away.
    - None hotel guests must apply in advance, if they wish to book a table at one of the restaurants, as a background check, will have to be carried out, due to the guests, at times includes high profiled celebrities and Royalty.
    - After airport check in, at the hotels private checkin counter, and being fast tracked through security, your personal member of staff, guides you to the business class lounge, where you can await, a car service driving you directly out to, the hotels own private 8 seater jet.
Just 50 min after leaving Bangkok, you land at the regions ONLY airport, owned and build by Soneva Kiri, ONLY for Soneva guests to use, on a neighbour island, especially bought, so you don’t disturb the resorts guests, up on take off or landing.
None Soneva guests, travel by car and boat, for most of a day, to get to Koh kood island!
Once landed, you will be met, by your personal butler, and guided to a motorboat, taking you across the bay, in a 10 min boat ride.
    - Once arrived at the resort, you are met by the hotel Manager and his crew in person, welcomed to the island.
    - No other hotel I ever heard off, sends a 7 page questionnaire out, to get to know your personal preferences, 2 months before arrival, on Everything, from pillow menu, allergies, food dislikes, pref for sweet or salty snacks. Interest in culture, food, sailing, diving… asking you what flipper/shoe size you use, in preparation for the snorkelling accessories, that will await you in your villa, anything special you want to be in your mini bar? Do you need yoga or prayer mat, toothbrush, toothpaste, pumice Stone…
They even ask, if you have a special wine, you want them to import, in time for your arrival!!!
    - what fragrance do you want, the hotels ON SITE eco friendly, produced bathroom products to have?
    - which fragrance, would you like your pillows to have?
And they offer amongst other things, the worlds ONLY tree-pod dining option, an on site Astronomy Tower, with a specialist ready to explain the sky and the stars to you, an onsite chocolate room with around 25-30 different types, of ON SITE made chocolates and an ice cream room offering 30 options or more in on site made ice creams and sorbets (both included in the price, eat as much as you like).
    - a private beach, that you go to by speedboat, where one of Thailand’s best beaches awaits you, with a full silent relaxing beach club is placed for your comfort.
    - a resort with max capacity of around 150 guests, on more then what I believe, is 41 hectare of land, offering 5 or more dining venues, flys out international chefs, from around the world to cook for the guests, the smallest villas/private ground is minimum 403 m2 or 4.300 square feet, some even with private beach access and area, each villa has their own golf buggy to get around, there is even an outdoor cinema in the hotel, a breakfast buffet plus a 13 page breakfast ala carte menu.
    I could go on…
Price, starts at the same price range as Bvlgari, but taking luxury to a whole new level!
Now that’s what I understand, as luxury and that’s even before we have arrived.
Can’t wait to see ,what it’s all about in person.

Super comprehensive video! And I definitely agree that Mandapa is the top for this list. If you can, you should take a look at Capella Ubud on your next trip! The experience and setting is out of this world.

I was able to eat breakfast and several dinners at Six Senses and the resort was very nice. It’s right near BVLGARI. We took a grab there because food was less than half price compared to BVLGARI. Great service and value for the money. I would say it would rank 4th on my list.

      The loud noise from the
      beach club continues
      until 25:00 and I can't sleep.
The noise from the Beach Club next door is
not the hotel’s responsibility but they didn't let us know about
      this at check in.
      The maintenance of the
      room has not been done.
      Raffles also had a noise
ploblem. but the response was excellent.
      We recommended
for people who play until midnight.
      your video is so beautiful
Next time I would like to stay at the Mandapa
      Rits Carlton.
