I actually grew up hearing the story of Stephen and Gregory. My dad and uncle were both stationed at Sickles in Fluda when this happened. My uncle talked about how he had actually met one of them in passing a few days before the incident happened. The scariest part to me was when he set the head down infront of her he said something along the lines of “here you go now you and Greg can sleep together all you want. But I don’t think you will be sleeping much any more” It’s crazy that I’m 27 now and I’m watching a Mr. Ballen video about a story I heard as young as 5 or 6.

It's tragic, but _also_ I can't believe they all walked into the death cellar one by one. If one person goes into a room and doesn't come out, I can see going in there to check on them, sure. But if that second person _also_ doesn't come out, you should assume going in there is a bad idea. Three people in a row? At that point you're failing basic pattern recognition. Women want a guy to go all in emotionally. When he does, that creates a responsibility for the woman not to do something that's going to annihilate him emotionally.
A woman always has the right to end a relationship for any reason or no reason at all, but just as a man doesn't have the right to assault a woman, she shouldn't have the right to destroy him emotionally. That doesn't justify murder, but it does make it less surprising that it happened. Of course, the manner in which it happened was bat-shit crazy and made her leaving him look like a wise idea. The manner in which she did that however, makes her an evil, twisted bitch who deserves no sympathy whatsoever.

Potatoes are Poisonous as are Tomatoes. Potatoes even when not rotten and are just unripe can be deadly toxic. Vice Versa Tomatoes that are unripe unless they're literally Green Tomatoes can make you sick or poison. Tomatine and Solanine poisoning theyre both of the NightShade family. The Green in the UNripe Potato is basically Visible Solanine.

My grandma raised her own potatoes in a co-op with a few other people. She also had a big cellar, so she stored some for people who didn’t have room. I never understood why she’d open all the windows in the house, open the cellar hatch, and we would go outside to do; what seemed to me at the time; useless little putting around for 15 minutes. Then she would go down with a burlap sack and get a bunch, after telling me to stay there and tell her a story. I didn’t realize at the time that the potatoes were the reason for all these precautions. When I wasn’t there, she’d get a neighbor or potato co-op member to come and shoot the town gossip while she gathered some.

On the 3rd story. I knew this story before you even told it. I was stationed at USDB Ft Leavenworth when inmate Schap arrived and was assigned to my detail. I do know you tried to make it family friendly by changing what he said to her when he pulled the head out, it was way more sinister than what you said. Plus you left out how many times he had to kick his head to get it off the body because his knife could not cut all the way through his spine. I read his trial transcript, as I did with all inmates being assigned to my detail. I enjoy your content and look forward to it every Sunday. I hope one day you will tell the story of Jackie Dacusin, a 13 y/o girl who was murdered at Ft Drum in 1992. It was a tragedy that I have never seen covered by anyone. When I heard the first story, all I kept thinking, was please tell me there’s no one else in the plane. It just baffles me as to why so many justice systems are incredibly warped because if it was their own family members that this happened to, it would’ve been a different story, they would fight harder. And then you get people that are locked up for petty things that spend decades of their life in prison, meanwhile, murderers et cetera get the bare minimum.

    • @schwaaard

I always remind myself that these are “legal” systems, not “justice” systems. Satisfying the letter of the law is the priority, not delivering justice. Sometimes justice is achieved, or at least a ruling is fair, but I think most of the time the scales are left grossly imbalanced.

So, naturally, when we get the occasional 3 story video, that legit makes my day, I love this channel. This is the only RUclips channel I watch regularly for every new upload.
(I do love the 1 story vids too, it gives MrBallen more time to give more detail and information. Plus, I know that if every video was 3 stories, it would be easier to run out of material for new vids. But still, this just made my night!)

Also in the beginning alot of Ballens content were famous strange/dark/mysterious stories already in story format. His best work that he seems most excited to do are stories HE basically is introducing to a wide audience that is lesser known.

I know woke morons on tiktok these days like to use the term PTSD but for soldiers this is/was a very very real, brutal & tragic thing. Any traumatic event a soldier experiences post-war has significant potential to literally drive them completely insane. Even the "Rambo" movies tried to touch on this and it seemed to go over many people's heads.

They also have the right to form new ones with whoever they please. I can understand the fact it was his best friend being a betrayal, but she got honest with him about it. And even so, it doesn't come close to an excuse for chopping someone's head off and serving it to someone else.

My mother asked me to clean it out, and as soon as I put my head down there, I started gagging, and had to back away. Not rotten potato related, but I used to work at a crab shack a while back and the health inspector was supposed to be paying us a visit, and we used to keep the spoiled crabs (a few hundred pounds worth) in huge black contractor bags set into plastic bins in a walk in fridge outside the main building in an effort to slow the decomposition process. Well these things had started to rot and become "juicy", and when crabs rot they produce a lot of ammonia, well one of my jobs was to clean all of this mess as fast as I could, so I grabbed the bags and with help from my coworkers hurled them into the back of an old freezer truck we used primarily for that purpose, and then proceeded to hose everything down with a mix of bleach and water, and when I got to those bins is where I ran into problems. I had dumped all the brown liquid out into a grassy part behind the shop and started hosing out the bins with the bleach and water mixture, holding my breath as I did so, and when I got to the patch of grass with crab juice in it, this white smoke started to billow out of the ground there, and my eyes started to burn, which is when I decided I'd had enough.
But yeah, always be wary of what you're mixing or other potential unseen dangers you could be facing because it could save your life.

Actually, humans best remember the most emotional moments of their lives. It’s a myth that all extremely emotional or traumatic memories are magically repressed out of consciousness. It tends to be the opposite; you forget moments that aren’t emotionally stimulating. Repression is not a common phenomenon. Just think, have you forgotten the worst moments of your life, or do you still remember them? I still remember mine. The lucky few are those who repress all trauma (although some would argue that repression does not solve anything and that the psychological and physiological aftereffects will be present regardless of conscious awareness).

I like that Mr.Ballen is honest about his post military experience. My dad is a retired Navy Petty Officer, who served 20 years. The post service period adjustment is rough. You went from a completely structured career and environment, to the chaos and disorder of the civilian world, and you often leave behind a tight-knit community you had been a part of for years. It's hard for the service members and for their families, and it really is something that should be talked about more. I respect that Mr.Ballen does use his platform to address mental health from time to time, even if it's a partnership, it's a good and respectable use of a large platform.

Also, it wasn't a card that informed him of the relationship but her journal. It doesn't change the truth of the story, still a phenomenal telling by Mr. Ballen as always, this is just for the few other people who get as overly exacting as me over minor details being correct in true crime stories.

In a strange way I feel bad for poor Steve. He had a terrible best friend, a terrible wife, and he discovered it all at once with terrible timing. Then he lost his mind and did something terrible.
