The girl with the "headache" reminds me of another story. A guy was interrogated* for hours, being accused of killing his gf until the detectives realized he had bullet wounds in his head.
it was a traumatic brain injury and not a gunshot...but yes

Yes.. I’ve seen that story.. sooo sad .. that poor guy ended up dying from his gs wound.. he might have had a chance of survival if someone had of noticed earlier 😢

Yes, I remember seeing that on RUclips or tv years ago. Talk about a surprise ending.
I'm an ER doctor. You might be surprised at how often paramedics or other medical professionals either think someone is dead when they aren't or don't notice that the patient died / stopped breathing while standing right next to them. There are various errors that contribute to this, but the two most common is a phenomena known as "anchoring bias" and "confirmation bias". Anchoring bias is a tendency to rely heavily on the first piece of information you hear. Confirmation bias is the tendency to see new information as consistent with and supportive of what you already believe to be true. It works like this. Someone is severely injured or is near death from a medical condition. A bystander calls 911 and says "I found a dead body" or "there was a motorcycle accident... ughhh... this guy is dead." The information is relayed to emergency services, who then expect to see a dead person. When they arrive, they look at the victim. Maybe he is covered in blood or has grievous injuries or appears not to be breathing. There might be some subtle signs that the victim is not dead, but these are overlooked (if he is dead, why is he still bleeding) or discounted (did I just feel a very weak pulse there? No, I think that was just my own pulse). It is very important to follow your usual procedures and to make your own independent assessments every single time. Have you ever noticed that when at doctor's office or ER, you get asked the same questions 4 times by 4 different people? Many patients see this as a sign of disorganization and get frustrated by it. The fact of the matter is that *I do know* what the secretary / nurse / referring physician says is going on, but I'm asking you anyway for a specific reason.
Oh, and wear a seatbelt / helmet!
What an amazing and detailed response! Thank you for your service in saving lives everyday!
Well spoken, Well said
Bruh, I just saw another comment like this..
Thankyou for your explanation
Having been in the ER as both a parent and a patient in the last few years, I would much rather repeat information to each person who asks than to assume that everyone has had time to get a detailed report.
I didnt expect Nicoles story to end like that.. She is lucky to have Leisha as a friend. She cares so much about her, thank god she talked her into going to the hospital not only to save her life but also because she never knew what he did to her.
not to discredit anyone but the hospital didnt save her life, they werent able to do anything about the bullet. she just had to live with it

The bullet story hit home for me, my lil pup, a Bichon Frise named Benji, was itching this spot on his chest, we thought it was a dry skin patch from his harness. We took him to the vet and eventually, over a few weeks of trying different treatments, they did X-rays, only to find a bullet lodged in his chest! I mean like a real bullet from a hand g*n, not a BB g*n...he lived the rest of his life with it because of the position was to close to his heart for surgery. To this day, we have no idea who shot him or why. He eventually passed due to complications from it at almost 12 years old, in 2010. RIP Sir Benjamin of Locksley ❤😢

If you are the type of person to just let your dog run around without a fence or leash then that's on you and your dog likely acted aggressive towards someone on their property and like I said that's entirely your fault. Some people are just awful
Agree with person above. Some people are just awful. I was driving home from work 6 months after having my first child and was hit by a drunk driver. I got two broken legs, a broken ankle, broken arm, and a brain injury. Me and my bf and baby had to move in with my mom after I got out of the hospital, because he had to work during the day and I couldn't even pick up my own child, change her, bathe myself, get myself food or water, etc. After less than a month she started yelling at me that we had to get out because I was a lazy b and needed to get a job 😑 when I had basically 70% of my body in casts and had to relearn how to walk 😂 anyways she still denies this ever happened. Natalia AND Leisha are both good friends. I feel bad for the victims who have to live the rest of their lives with chronic pain or PTSD. Being eaten alive by a grizzly bear has got to be one of the worst ways to die. Just awful. And living with a chronic migraine will actually make you wish you were dead. Hope these people are doing okay.
I rather be dead then live with that bullet in my head
Ive had 1 migraine in the last 38 months.
Unfortunately, that migraine has lasted 38 months.
In the last half year, it’s started knocking me completely unconscious… the pain gets worse and worse, then nothing. Sometimes I’m only out a few minutes, sometimes it’s 30+ minutes or more.
I would bet the farm that a significant amount of suicides are due to migraines - both diagnosed and undiagnosed.
Unfortunately, walking into an ER reporting pain without external symptoms is likely to be an exercise in frustration, and get you labeled as “Drug Seeking”.
@@gruntopolouski5919yeah you're exactly right. I'm an in-home geriatric nurse. And I completely disagree with this War on drugs. It isn't helping anyone and is only hurting people who genuinely need painkillers. I've always wondered how common it is for live people to undergo an autopsy, clearly being killed by it shortly after it began, and no one ever knowing the person was actually alive beforehand. It may not be a huge amount, but I bet it's a lot more than we could ever guess, and just the thought of it happening to one person is horrifying enough as it is.
I don't know. For example, a living body still bleeds, which someone performing an autopsy wouldn't expect. As in this story, unless the person performing the autopsy was a mess of a person, it would at least give them pause.
I am certain you are correct. There are probably hundreds every year around the world. At least.
Gosh, listening to the autopsy story made me hug my body and told myself to take care of myself cause you never know what could happen.
Poor Nicole, that was crazy. Lesha is a good friend, she cared so much even when being ignored. She saved her life. I just dont understand how you can suffer for 5 weeks with a blinding headache.
From experience, the pain is so great and constant, that you just continue to live that. I had a 5 day headache, layed the whole time on the sofa, the last 3 days, pain out of this world, where all I could see was a black line on a white background drawing a pattern of the pain, over and over, and the pattern would change a tiny bit, when the pain did. I knew a massive pain was about to ramp up because the black line changed. Just mentioned this to show how crazy it is, that level of pain. Too focussed on the pain to even think to go for help, to ask for help. Then I had a stroke in my cerebellum, and just before the stroke happened, the pain was gone. When I heard Ballen's story, I was thinking that I knew the pain she was in and understood why she was acting that way.
Wow, I'm trying to figure out how she got off work for 5 weeks. Seriously no shade
@@jogrant3851
It’s interesting you should mention the line pattern describing the pain. I had my first migraine when I was 10, and remember laying in bed with that pattern repeating behind my closed lids over and over again.
My entire life I’ve seen blinding dots (but not solid; shaped like Cheerios), usually orange, superimposed over my vision. There are dozens of them floating around, but during migraines they’re even worse. They’re not floaters, I “see” them with my eyes closed in total darkness. If I focus on them, I can change their colors to green, at times, but usually they flare to bright orange again.
@@cyn37211 Wow, thanks for replying. The repeating pattern must be a thing then for brain 'changes' such as migraines. Yes, I saw it with closed eyes too. My doctor reluctantly told me that he felt the stroke had been caused by the migraine. I'm so glad you told me about your experience. Those blinding dots sound horrendous, but they must be from coming from something happenng in your brain. Fascinating that you can change them to green, but they flare back to orange. Thanks again and take care! If I come across anything interesting that might explain those dots, I'll come back and post it for you.

I love this channel so much. Storytelling is nearly a lost art form. It's awesome to see someone carrying it on. Thank you so much!
Storytelling is not a lost art form at all.
It's prevalent everywhere
Nicole's story is so sad and an all too common situation for women - especially those who are POC. All those weeks, even after he rammed her car and after the fight - events she did remember and more than enough reason to break up and kick him out, she just continued to be abused. It's what she had come to expect from him. Just from the memories she did have, she should have broken it off.
I want to say that we ladies should not accept abuse from anyone, but just look what happened when she tried to get him to leave! And - even sadder - she's one of the "lucky" ones, because she wasn't found in her car, dead from a bullet wound. Instead, she gets to continue to live with blinding pain.
25 years wasn't enough. He should have gotten life.
Not often does someone get to hold their own autopsy order! I can’t believe they didn’t immediately wheel him into the ER. I’m not someone who is quick to sue but this is probably one of those times I would!!
That was so sad, cause after all of that, they could've helped him, but instead decided to abandon him in this beyond horrific situation. And probably nothing happened to them
@@amandabutton Seems as if they’re often times not held accountable except for the occasional pay out which is often paid by their insurance. This (I’d think) would be negligent and criminal charges could be brought up.🤷

The final story really got me. The audacity he had to assume she was faking her pain. Especially since he caused it and knows what happened to her? How could he think she was just being dramatic??
Speaking from personal experience, when you break up the first time it really should be the last.
I wish there was a follow up on this 😢
I doubt he thought that...he only wanted to deflect blame from himself in every way. He figured she would feel better and then regret "neglecting" him while sick. He also saw an opportunity to leave while still being able to blame her. Speculation of course on my part but this is self-serving behavior so it fits in my opinion.
Yeah but isolating her from everyone else and keeping her inside made it easier for him to hide the truth. What a piece of trash. He actually tried to murder her- He should NEVER get out of prison. And from the looks of his picture, it appears that he is definitely NOT ALL THERE. His elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top floor. He’s playing without a full deck. In summation, he ignunt!!!!
Gonna assume he knew she wasn’t faking it, he was just gaslighting her into silence considering he’s the reason for it in the first place
And nicoles story..so upsetting. Ive been in an abusive relationship before. Im grateful it never escalated to this extent. How shocking it must have been for the boyfriend to realize she was still alive

I can't imagine being in Nicole's position. Chronic pain and impaired cognitive function for the rest of your life? Sometimes that's a fate worse than death. Her life expectancy will probably be significantly reduced by the stress of chronic pain and brain damage. Jerrontae should have gotten life instead of 25 years. The best.
I can testify to that. Yesterday, I though it'd be "great" idea to listen to MrBallen as I fall to sleep. After one episode, the next one was "Do you know how to get to Bells Canyon?" - and the heck with sleep! I was SO TERRIFIED, I was literally shaking under the blanket.

As someone who frequently suffers from sleep paralysis I can attest to how horrifying it is to be conscious but unable to speak, see or move. Can’t imagine how horrifying it must be to be in this state permanently.

Being mentally alert and aware without being able to communicate with anyone, as they begin to perform the autopsy is one of those deeply horrifying ideas that really make my heart pounding. 😢 That story is absolute nightmare fuel.
It sounds like something that only would've happened in the 1800s and earlier.

It kinda puts the fear of waking up during surgery in second place.
On of my greatest fears! That, and waking up in a coffin/ crematorium. 😱
Mr. Ballen have told a similar story before but worse. Basically, the guy was operated while being fully conscious. There was a mix up in the anesthetic, he was half sedated so his body was paralyzed but his mind he was still conscious. He basically still up while being opened.
Great sad stories. Nicole's story reminds me of the young lad being interrogated at the cop station, and the detective finally noticed the marks on the young lads head revealing that he had been shot in the head a few times. Great video 👍 cheers Mr B ♥️
I recently saw that video, it was really sad to see. The poor kid try to explain what had happened to his girlfriend and the police didn't believe he had been shot.
Yeah this one reminded me a little of that one too, and craziest thing is that MrBallen covered that other story too, haha
That one was unbelievable and so bad from the cops, i still cant believe no one noticed he needed hospital until that long into the interview, the cop interviewing clearly thought the lad was guilty of killing his gf! Was more concerned about getting an arrest, clearly the boy wasnt well and didnt look remotely ok, how he even lasted and spoke that long is amazing! Unfortunately due to not getting to hospital sooner he ended up in a bad way! Definitely the most shocking interview ive ever seen
@@TheLegendOfRuneand he was being interrogated as a suspect in his girlfriend's murder. All the while he had been shot in the head and left for dead.

My goodness.. that last story was crazy. Just lost for words man. Thanks for sharing
that autopsy story made me ball up in pain just listening to it and my jaw just dropped...by far one of the craziest stories and i couldnt imagine the pain he would have felt if they went through witht the full autopsy and he never woke up
I hope Carlos sued the hell out of the medical examiner. If someone is bleeding, obviously their heart is beating. It’s terrifying to think that no one double checked for vitals at that point, and instead just continued preparing his body for autopsy and viewing/identification.
I was thinking the same plus then just leaving him afterwards!! Appalling!!
As soon as you mentioned Nicole’s boyfriend, I knew he was the cause of the headache. I hope she does eventually make a full recovery 😢. Also a lesson to everyone but especially women who have a tendency to put up with pain and underestimate it, 5 weeks with a blinding, torturous, life-interrupting pain that destroys your QOL and you decide NOT to seek medical assistance is what NOT to do.
Some people can't afford to go to the hospital in the United States, though, and so they wait and wait and wait when they really should be going to the hospital.
Also when he said that Nicole's best friend hated her boyfriend, you know there's a very good chance he's trash. Good people and lifelong close friends do not hate your significant other unless they have a reason to. They have your best interests at heart, shown by how the friend immediately took Nicole to the hospital. I'm glad that murderous scumbag is in prison.
@Violetbunnyfish money or not, gotta go to the ER when it's that bad! At some point, years later, you can negotiate payment at pennies on the dollar owed. Your credit will take a hit but you'll be alive.

"After the autopsy they discovered that he died in the worst way possible."
"What's the worst possible way to die?"
"During an autopsy"
This is the best story you've covered to date! Nicole is so lucky to be alive!
The whole story with Carlos made me realize something scary, imagine how many people who has been pronounced dead after an accident and in reality they weren’t, and then an autopsy have been performed on them while they were still alive and fully conscious.
Carlos was just extremely lucky to alert the doctors to stop the whole procedure.
What saved him was that his heart was still pumping blood, in order to alert the doctors.
We are beautifully and wonderfully created. God 🙏🏾
Well if you are conscious you have blood flow to your brain, blood flow to your brain means blood is circulating. Won't take long to realize someone isn't dead. This also happened in Venezuela, not the most developed country.
That wouldn't happen. If you are alive, then you still bleed. This was even mentioned in the story. As soon as anybody started an autopsy and began the the Y-cut, bleeding would happen, and they would immediately stop.
thats why during a plague in europe,we had bells on thumbstone,so if you were alive, the rope was connected to bell, and you could alarm people that you are not dead.Google it,it is very interesting.
I don't think it happens often because they should know, if person is bleeding, they are not dead. Also, I don't know if the actual use a bone saw to open a person's chest. I think they make the initial incision with a scalpel.
Only downside of watching Mr Ballen is that he sets your standards so high that after a while no other story teller will meet your expectations lol

Wow, Jerrontae knew all along that Nicole was having her horrible 5 week headache because HE'D shot her in the head & he STILL pretended that he thought she was just being lazy???? Never tough it out guys. I had strong abdominal pain for two/three weeks straight and just by luck, I was near a hospital and decided to go in, while nearly instantly starting to feel light headed and weak as soon as I walked in. I had an ectopic that I basically ignored because I thought I had already had a period. I even haemorrhaged within those weeks and didn’t know how serious of a situation that was. Anyway… they performed the emergency surgery and the next day, my doctor told me by the time they had started the surgery, the sack had already burst and my abdomen was full of blood so I was basically at the brink of death and that was my last chance. Soooo many factors helped, I happened to just get an urge to walk into a hospital that day. My symptoms became SEVERE as soon as I walked into the hospital and I was crying and with my 8 month old in her pushchair who I tried to take out to comfort her as she was whinging a bit. But I was too weak to stand in the long A&E queue, so this lovely couple held my baby and got me help which basically fast tracked me. I can’t even imagine what would’ve happened if I had actually waited in line or had not gone to hospital that day. My husband also got to the hospital before the surgery so he took our daughter. The bullet one happens more often than you would think. I saw it just about a month ago in the ER. A 16 year old girl said she was running from a an incident where there was a fight and someone fired gunshots. She thought she was punched in the back of the head, and her head hurt. I told the ER staff to do an X-ray because I was pretty sure she got shot in the head. They looked at me like I was an idiot, 10 minutes later they felt like idiots when it came back showing a 9mm round lodged in her skull.
that reminds me of a story from Arizona . a lady is driving down the road on a hot day in Phoenix and she hears a loud boom and feels something hit her in the back of the head. she puts her hand on the back of her head and feels something there. she thinks her brains are leaking out and she had been shot. she calls 9-1-1 . a few minutes later police and ems show up where she pulled over . they immediately look at her wound and start laughing . lady said “that bad, huh?” they tell her to take her hand off the wound snd look at it .

Watching Mr Ballen's videos isn't so much like the usual narrator. He feels like that rare friend who's always got some kind of amazing and crazy story to tell. And he loves doing it. It's just you and a close group of people listening to this animated storyteller.
Carlos’s story reminded me of an incident when I was having plastic surgery - rhinoplasty and chin liposuction. The surgeon started with the lipo, however they had not administered enough anesthesia. I was paralyzed but could feel the metal cannula cut through my flesh. It was a searing pain unlike anything I’ve felt before or since. I couldn’t scream but must’ve made some noise because I recall hearing the surgeon telling the anesthetist to increase it. Hearing Mr Ballen describe Carlos’s pain of the needle sewing him up took me back to that pain memory as if it happened yesterday.
My gosh that is so scary!
That's literally one of my biggest fears.
Usually when there isn't enough anesthesia during surgery the patient's heart rate will dramatically increase and there are also some other things being monitored by the anesthesiologist during the entire surgery to make sure the patient is sufficiently anesthetized. If you were actually awake and aware during any part of your surgery, I would definitely look into a lawsuit against the anesthesiologist and hospital because that's horrifying and one of my worst nightmares!
What?!?? That has to be my biggest fear!! Were you able to sue?!
Mr Ballen actually had a similar episode. Wild!
That second story was savage. The lady was extremely unfortunately lucky the bear left her in the "fridge".
Bears don't keep meat "fresh" from what I've heard. On the contrary, they love rotten meat. As well as other scavengers. From here follows the old rule "at the sight of a bear, lie down on the ground and pretend to be dead" - there is a chance that the bear will bury you in a hole with mud and leaves and leave you to "ripen". It seems to me that the chance is rather illusory, and in any case, a person will get acquainted with bear claws and teeth. I would not follow this advice and would not recommend it to anyone.
Dang that is so crazy these stories you tell are almost unbelievable i wonder where do you find them? Thank you MrBallen for bringing us such great stories.

I hoped the shootout was going to end with this sack of garbage getting a bullet in HIS head, but alas.
1st one, she was i believee
The first story brought back sooo many memories. I died at 8y/o. I had a severe heat stroke, was taken to the hospital, had life saving measures done for 43 mins & was declared deceased. 47 mins later as a hospital tech was wheeling my body to the morgue I sat up. Scared both of us. I do remember a few details while dead, but not nearly enough to cover the time I was dead. The closest I’ve come since has been 2 of my surgeries in which I experienced Anesthesia Awareness. I was able to hear & feel everything but I couldn’t move, speak, or do anything to get anyone in the room to notice that I was awake. Since then, I’ve required to be awake during any surgery by using local anesthesia or a spinal block. (I actually got to watch my own hysterectomy via mirrors on the ceiling. I was a med student so it didn’t bother me & is definitely not something everyone can handle seeing, especially when it’s their own body their watching)
I feel for the guy in #1. Waking up a second before entering the hospital morgue was scary enough, especially as an 8 year old. I truly don’t know if I could handle waking up during my own autopsy.
The amnesia awareness must have been torture & almost dying at 8, wow. So when you watched your own hysterectomy was it a laproscopic thing? That must have been wild to watch .
@@Suzanimal_316 He didn't "almost" die.
@@Suzanimal_316 Being declared deceased was incredibly scary, especially being so young & not fully understanding what happened before, during & after being declared deceased at the hospital. As for my hysterectomy, it was supposed to be va**nal, but due to complications they had to move forward with an open surgery in which they used my previous C-section incision lines. They also removed a Keloid scar on my upper stomach that was causing issues, so it technically ended up being a 3-in-1 surgery.
