X2 has one of the best OPENINGS ever! I remember seeing this as a 14 year old back in 2003 and being amazed at this scene
Nightcrawler will always be one of my fav marvel people, next to Mystique and Deadpool.
Couldn't agree more! I watched this opening a hundred times because of the incredible camera-work and choreography. (I'm a bit biased, nightcrawler is a LOOONG time favorite).
People complain about X3 because it's not oscar worthy, but you're gonna enjoy it just fine. "Days of Future Past" (#5) is the best

When Stan Lee created X-Men he had the Civil Rights Movement in mind. Malcolm X gave him the inspiration to create Magneto. And Martin Luther King Jr. to create Professor Xavier.
Also, in the comics Scarlett Witch aka Wanda is the daughter of Magneto. 😊😊
X-Men was created during Civil Rights by Stan Lee to give folks a way of understanding the times. Prof X (MLK) Magneto ( Malcolm X)
X-Men does kinda swerve into Marvel universe. Look closely at Avengers endgame at the scene where Korg is playing online and complains to Thor about newbmaster69. There's an avatar running on the roof. It's none other than Deadpool! He's the bridge between them all
Short explanation... in the 90s the comic industry was taking a hit. Marvel sold various intellectual properties to FOX (xmen fantastic 4 etc) and Sony (spiderman). It wasn't until Disney bought the world that they all finally come together. Respect! ✊

Jean is a Omega level mutant. Which basically means god like. It's the rarest class of mutant. There is more I could say but I'll leave it at that for now To note, Scarlet Witch is also a Omega level mutant. Cable and Iceman are also considered Omega level. In Icemans case (in the comics) you can shatter him to pieces and he just can puthimself back together.
Fun fact. Thanos would get his $%% kicked by any Omega level mutant. Thanos isn't even Omega level. Despite the fact he is a mutant (in the comics he's mutant). Techically everyone in the MCU is a mutant, but due to legal issue they can't use the word. They are only bringing it into the MCU now because they have the right to use the word now. Which means the new X-Men will no doubt be coming.
Especially since we saw a version of Professor-X. And if I recall Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan) and Namor are.
dont remember if disney bought the xmen by the time the thanos Avengers movies came out. but good thing they didnt include the xmen in it, coz there would be no story. Jean wouldve took out Thanos in mins easily!

*Jean Grey* is one of the strongest Marvel characters. The way they did *Colossus* in *Deadpool* is acurate to the comics. *Nightcrawler* teleports, but can't jump anywhere like in *Jumper.* Marvel got the movie rights to *X-Men* and *The Fantastic 4* back when they bought Fox. Soon you will get the REAL X-Men in the MCU, interacting with Thor and Spidey and all your favorite characters.
Movie rights to Spidey and a number of his villains (notably Venom, Morbius, Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Vulture, Mysterio, and a few others) are still owned by Sony, but they have a cooperative deal that allows them to use each other’s properties
This is an amazing movie! When it first came out there just wasn't anything like it!!!

In the comics, in some background stories on Charles Xavier he is a military combat veteran and is great at strategy.
I remember when I 1st saw this in the theatres I thought the opening sequence with the Nightcrawler blew me away!!!!

31:27 In the last film when Magneto fired up his machine, the X-Men were exposed to it’s effects. It has practically no effect on them or the other mutants present. However the machine gave Jean a boost and broke down some limits on her powers that will be further discussed in the next film. If you go back and watch the film, Jean for a moment looks dizzy or unsettled once it stops.

Ever since Liberty Island, it effected Jean tremendously. Her powers amplified. She is telkenetic and telepathic, which is unique because there has only been a few mutants who have 2 powers such as her. When she utilizes both of her powers at the same time, its a Force to be reckoned with.
Xmen is still part of MCU and their world is Omniversal. Meaning they exist in multiple universes. In the comics they always have interactions with Fantastic Four, Spiderman, Iron Man, and even including the Avengers. Certain comics and depends which universe but in one of them, there is a version of Magneto being the father of Wanda and Quicksilver (certain universe as i mentioned). Even certain comics it is said Nightcrawler and Rogue belong to Mystique.
when these original X-Men movies were made marvel comics was going out of biasness and sold the movie rights to allot of characters like X-Men, Daredevil, Fantastic Four and more but after the MCU took off Disney bought allot of them back.

I met Iceman in a store that I worked at back in 2004. Him and his twin brother came in and they were both so nice and down to earth and I told him how much I loved the movie. They both had PIERCING blue eyes. Nice guys.
Magneto and Professor X are analogous to MLK and Malcom X, one believes in radical violence to achieve supremacy and the other wants peace and acceptance. The X-men have been used for the struggle of all minorities since it’s creation, it’s why they’re my favorite marvel story lines
Even though you watch this almost 2 months ago, you have to stop calling people “beasts“. Because there’s an actual X-Men whose name is Beast that you are about to meet. 🤣💙💙💙
X2 is one of the better CBM's ever made.

Storm can only control the Weather. She draws her power from earth’s electromagnetic field. Tornadoes,tsunamis,wind, thunder , blizzards, hurricanes as far as water rain & flood ….even massive whirlpools, Generate lightning and fly. She’s also immune to extreme temperatures both hot and cold.

Got to admit bro, watching your reactions takes me back to when I first saw it for the first time. Great job bro, as usual. You go see some things in the upcoming x-movies, that's go blow your mind. I'm not go spoil it, I'm just go let you be surprised. But if you ever get a chance, there was a team up from back in the day, a one shot comic. Marvel and DC, X-Men and Teen Titans vs Darkseid and Dark Phoenix. One of the best, if not the best X-Men crossovers ever made. Keep doing your thing bro, stay blessed.

The Mansion Attack was the first time we FINALLY got to see the Wolverine berserker rage!
Kurt Wagner is one of my favorite "don't judge a book by its cover" superheroes. He looks like a demon but is nice and bubbly and fun.
Back in the 60s to 80s when these stories came out, there was a common trope that every little boy wants to run away and join the circus. Kurt is the opposite. He was raised in a circus and wants to run away and join the priesthood. If he wasn't fighting racism with the X-Men, he would be in a seminary. Honestly, given how fun and light-hearted he is, I think he would make an amazing Catholic priest.
Kurt and Logan have a close friendship despite having opposite personalities. Their friendship is based on their mutual hatred of American beer. They go out drinking a lot, and poor Kurt tries to keep up with Logan when it comes to drinking.
The fight scenes in this movie blew my mind when I was young in the theater, specifically the house attack and worlverine vs Freddy Kruegers sister.

I had an x-men game on sega genesis as a kid. That intro character that took on the white house, Nightcrawler, was my favorite character to play. I never picked any of the other characters.

36:02 Storm controls the elements of atmospheric weather to generate storms, lightning,, snow, hail etc.
But she can’t control the water from a burst dam.
In comics there are people like the character Crystal who can control fire, water, earth and wind.
She could’ve controlled the water with her winds like she’s done many times in the comics

In the comics, the X-Men are in the same universe as the Avengers and all of the MCU characters.
When there is a big crisis event the X-Men will be seen fighting right besides all of the MCU folks.
It’s only because of Fox buying the movies rights from Marvel in the early 2000s that they are off on their own.
To be quite honest given all of the mutant characters, X-Men was easily able to have its on cinematic universe unto itself.
Magneto the goat, the absolute best in this franchise. I love wolverine but magneto is my favorite.

Dunno if you’re catching it or not, but remember when the X men first released. 1960’s right. Look at the issues of these movies, what do you think they are a metaphor for? Professor X and his mutants protecting humanity and promoting the idea of harmony and coexistence with humans. Magneto on the other hand is strictly pro mutant and all about preservation at all costs. It’s 1960’s civil rights with professor X standing in for MLK and magneto as Malcolm X. Though of course they had to make it more “hero/villain” angled for entertainment purposes as well and wouldn’t say they were insinuating Malcolm was a villain in real life

This is a good movie, but a terrible adaptation.
In WW2 Germany, Christianity was used to justify the horrible things that happened there.
When slavery was a thing in America, many protestant denominations provided rationalization for slavery.
In the Jim Crow South, those same protestant denominations helped people justify racism.
It's sad but true that religion played a role in justifying horrible things throughout history, including racism. Most of the stories about racism do not address the role religion can sometimes play in rationalizing horrible things.
In the 1980s, there was an epic X-Men story called "God Loves, Man Kills" (what an amazing title). This story explored the thing most stories about racism don't want to talk about: how people use religion to justify things that should never be justified.
Unfortunately, FOX lost their nerve and removed all references to religion. The main villain (Stryker) was changed from a preacher to a government agent. This is a good movie, but they removed the whole point of the story. I don't mind when they change things in making a movie, but don't mess with the subtext or themes.
