Don't. The last tour they did with Lydon in 2008 was so problematic and filled with conflict, Jonesy has vowed he will never, ever be in the same room as John Lydon again....
In the eighties I played in most of the pubs on the London circuit at the time .. I also went to see bands most nights of the week across London.. the worst thing that happened was “pay to play “ … if you didn’t pull enough punters you didn’t get a gig …
You can see the Hammersmith Palais video Steve mentions with a very young Paul Cook in it by searching for "Dancing At The Palais (1973)" from British Pathe. Cookie's at about 6.59.
He remembers a law suit- where John attended court with Branson … John cared about his words. Great musicians but the attitude was all John, who they’ve shafted.
shafted.. how so? the agreement between all 4 members was that the band was a democracy that voted on anything they were going to do. Lydon lost the vote 3-1 and then didnt honour his side of the agreement. he spat out his dummy.
Paul said they had limited time to set the gig up, and considering they were doing it to support the old hall, you can understand their haste. As Johnny was from that part of London too, why didn't he just offer his services? I can't really stand John now, he's become the very thing that he used to rant about. A media luvvy. Put a camera in-front of him and he goes into parody mode of the insolent teenager he used to be. Due to his age, he can't really carry that anymore. Steve and Paul are the real thing, down-to-earth and closer to what the group were trying to say back in 76-77.
In Australia, the Pokies becoming legal knocked out a lot of venues, no room for bands and a 'Gaming Lounge', and then the GST came in and you couldn't get paid without an Australian Business Number. It changed the live band scene a lot.
Hey Paul... grab Steve for some "Professional" shows ... nothing personal against Tom Spencer but get him back so he can sing those classic Professional songs proper...
Electric Circus in Collyhurst Manchester long gone decades ago, great little rock venue had Penetration The Jam but nothing saved that place from the bulldozer.
Met them all , in The Swan Forton, after they had played in Newport Shropshire, Dec 1977. Van had a puncture when they left, got it changed by someone in the village.
People, including the band themselves , always try to claim that they were incompetent musicians. Total bollox . Jones played and created great riffs. See the RUclips video of him playing his riffs for the songs . Cooke was a decent drummer and Glen was and still is a fine bass player and could write a damn good song.
Australia mid 80 Melbourne Stkilda ,P I L performed for one night only and i was so excited to see John live ,the first 4 songs he was brilliant TILL one lady from the crowd ran onto stage and attemted to hug him and he entire demeanour turned nasty and continued for another couple songs but you could tell hes heart wasnt in it .then he strolled off lights out and that was it
Matlock has always gotten along with them over the years. Has worked with them on various things minus Rotten. Jones has stated many times he regrets getting rid of Matlock. Cook has even stated Matlock was the main songwriter of the band, was the talent but the other three were too young and immature, he didnt fit the image they wanted. I however do disagree with Jones when he said the band could've recorded more albums had they not gotten rid of Matlock. I think the band was a ticking timebomb thanks to Malcolm and the ego and antics of Rotten. It was never meant to last I dont think even if Sid didnt join. Jones in the 2002 documentary Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols: "We were what we were. Who cares if he washed his feet? That was him. I'm sure I had things that bugged him". He also conceded that the band could have recorded more albums had Matlock stayed and they had not participated in the television interview with Bill Grundy."

Steve is correct on the court case, John Mortimer who wrote Rumpole of the bailey won it for the band
In Australia, the Pokies becoming legal knocked out a lot of venues, no room for bands and a 'Gaming Lounge', and then the GST came in and you couldn't get paid without an Australian Business Number. It changed the live band scene a lot.
Post Covid, things seemed to have picked up. There are 8 live music venues within a 30 minute walk from where I live in Melbourne.
Its so nice seeing the boys having a great time. John wasnt the only member in the pistols 😊
credit to you helping the venue out
Steve looks OK after his health issues a few years ago. Also lost a few pounds 👌
What health issues he had?
Proper lads, Cookie the spokesman and Jonsie the ol" horn dog. Respect.
What a terrific interviewer
Hey Paul... grab Steve for some "Professional" shows ... nothing personal against Tom Spencer but get him back so he can sing those classic Professional songs proper...
Yes.
Steve looks like he's ready for Disney World.
Glen Matlock “the bass player” 😂😂
I wish all interviews were like this!
Never Mind the Bollocks… very good album though.
Luv their arts.
The word bollocks is beeped out? Interesting..welcome to 2024
Means nonsense
Never mind the genitalia !!
Same reaction here.
Bollocks!!😄😄...
I’ve been hearing that the show was spectacular.
God I miss Jonesy’s Jukebox, Steve is comedy gold
Electric Circus in Collyhurst Manchester long gone decades ago, great little rock venue had Penetration The Jam but nothing saved that place from the bulldozer.
Jonsey is the reason why I own les Paul’s.
These 2 are great to listen to should have there own show
Great interviewer.
Cooke was a decent drummer and Glen was and still is a fine bass player and could write a damn good song.
two legends, Jonsey still with a twinkle in the eye
Tem um vídeo de uma entrevista com esses dois integrantes gravado na Austrália em 1977 e 47 anos depois novamente eles dando outra entrevista
Australia mid 80 Melbourne Stkilda ,P I L performed for one night only and i was so excited to see John live ,the first 4 songs he was brilliant TILL one lady from the crowd ran onto stage and attemted to hug him and he entire demeanour turned nasty and continued for another couple songs but you could tell hes heart wasnt in it .then he strolled off lights out and that was it
Jonesy and Cooky! Salute fellas!
Outstanding
Real geezers🎸.....top blokes.
Steve and Paul lifelong buddies, surprising to see Glen still working with them
It is not surprising that you are surprised - comes with your luck of personality laughter
They know they F-ed up by kicking him out of the band.
Jones in the 2002 documentary Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols:
"We were what we were. Who cares if he washed his feet? That was him. I'm sure I had things that bugged him". He also conceded that the band could have recorded more albums had Matlock stayed and they had not participated in the television interview with Bill Grundy."
@@Peppers19781978 he should not wash his feet - there is the answer - that ended sex pistols
These guys are priceless. 😎
Great, simply great! Love Steve Jones and Paul Cook.
Yeah jonesy and cooky both looking well
God Steve , i remember Paper Lace ❤😂 LOL
I'm 66
Is this the tour without Johnny Rotton?
