i saw them about 5 years ago on a head full of blotter not knowing anything about them before hand other than they jammed and were really good at their instruments. They literally pulverized me into a psychedelic goo.
Haha we might as well be the same dude. I was at a jam festival, we thought wed ruined the L so we took too much before noon, and they were perfectly fine. I was 100% expecting a goofy hippy band, and instead was turned on to something really profound to me
One night in 2008 I had nothing better to do and went with a buddy of mine to see umphreys in Columbus having never heard them before. I’ve been hooked ever since and have been lucky enough to see them a handful of times since then!!
I've seen them play 1 or 3 sets that I didn't love... but in my 40ish shows, I've never seen them play a bad one. Even the setlists I dont like are still amazing how tight they are 🤘🤘🤌
jake cinninger is the best of the young guitarists today. (under 40) there are so few young guitarists who can really creatively improvise and solo so creatively. i put him in my all time top 10 list.
What an awesome show. We've seen them in New Orleans and here at Red Rocks. Puppet String is one of my favorites. The weather was fantastic for this show!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see them again.
Just saw them last night for the first time at Jannus Landing St pete Fla there first time there in Florida. They almost made me puke a few times I was rocking so hard. Alot of peeps around me never saw UM before and were blown away. They tore the fucking place up. The did Puppet String too. Rock so hard. So tight. HOly shit never saw so many trashed hot 20 year old chicks. Even if your not a fan go there for the chicks lol! Jake dominates. Thanks for the excellent show man!!
great performance, but i like the heavier arrangement of this they did on similar skin. would love to see and hear them play more of that cd live on tour. it's just frigging awesome.
This is an utterly beautiful rend of Puppet String, It's part of an even more fantastic Sick Ass Wappy Sprayberry playlist. Thank you, umvideo! and to the other uploaders within the playlist. Love some UM!
Damn read this comment and checked you guys out...absolutely incredible, checked out the penultimate show and a couple other videos, sorry you didn't get the recognition your clearly deserved. Much love!
If you're going to make a judgement umphrey's by their lyrics then just leave. Their lyrics are fine and their musicianship is incredible. They're without a doubt one of the most talented bands of this generation.
No idea how you could possibly hate this song.. And also @sirclarkroberts I'm not sure how you can say that considering how far Bayliss has come and how good this song sounds.
Bayliss is flat sometimes but the lyrics are always great. Plus you can tell it's a focus of his to improve the vocals. They're all so damn talented. Also I'm backing up spmase with a request for a professionally filmed bridgeless.
Bayliss's guitar skills easily make up for his singing ( which is not that bad at all ) . An as for phish i thinks its jus treys voice in general tht keeps people going back to their shows .
You're in the minority. Consensus is that this is the best new song they've written according to Umphrey's Fan Forums. But, yeah, Domino Theory doesn't get much love.
true about trey/brendan not having an operatic voice, but i dont think it kills the song (maybe some phish songs in trey's case). the sincerity of it is where its at for me...
.... and sell it out. and i would venture a guess that the people at this show had a liiiiitle bit more fun than the overweight minivan drivers that showed up for tesh LOL
I don't like Lady Gaga either, but don't be so quick to judge her! She's a really talented piano player and a solid singer, and she writes her music herself. That's a lot more than can be said for a lot of other pop stars
Record sales does not equate to good music. This was established in the 90s during the landmark case of Backstreet Boys v. The United States. Justices cited the fact that most people are too lazy to listen past their radio dial to invest in better music. Scalia dissented by simply writing "Backstreet Boys!" in all capital letters.
Haha, when it comes to bands like Phish and Umphrey's, the last thing the fans are gonna do is respect your opinion (in the case that you don't agree with them 100%, that is). I personally like both bands, but they have some of the most fucking closeminded fans I've ever met. Cool, you like 22 minute guitar solos? Not everyone does. Like you said, at least you gave 'em a fair shake. I personally think there's way better "jam" music out there, myself.

exactly. that's what happened to me at this show. I'm so lucky because this was the moment I realized id be following them forever
I though Jake was the Devil the first time I saw them😂😂 and yes I was on a head full
One night in 2008 I had nothing better to do and went with a buddy of mine to see umphreys in Columbus having never heard them before. I’ve been hooked ever since and have been lucky enough to see them a handful of times since then!!
Seriously, so clean. If you didn't watch the video, you could definitely be convinced it was a studio performance.
You will not understand the awesomeness of this until you see it live.
This band dominates when they play. Its alot of really good fun.....and sweat.
Agreed.. I was at this show
All I can say is, "Umphluv!" It's the tag on one of my cars!!
MY god this band is stacked w skills on all
puppet strings is 10 years old now... wow
I've seen them play 1 or 3 sets that I didn't love... but in my 40ish shows, I've never seen them play a bad one. Even the setlists I dont like are still amazing how tight they are 🤘🤘🤌
Stasik's bass line penetrates my soul.
That line is just a badass composition. Props to Ryan for writing that, very impressive. A pro band all around
When they debuted this at Summer camp years ago and the bass line dropped the entire cried gasped its one of my fondest memories in 300+ UM shiws
Crowd*
Just discovered these guys, damn!!
You should also look for Spock's Beard.
Enjoy my friend!
jake cinninger is the best of the young guitarists today. (under 40) there are so few young guitarists who can really creatively improvise and solo so creatively. i put him in my all time top 10 list.
Can’t believe I’ve watched this 321k times now

Holy shit these guys are good
Had my first live ump show on Friday and was THRILLED to hear this be on the set list. So freaking good.
They really are perfect.
This is top notch 🙏🏻
Stasik came in late on the slap riff. Perfect imperfections
It's not even fair, umph IS THE BAR. str8 up filth ❤️😍
Blows my fucking mind, every single time.
Red Rocks is beautiful! If you ever get the chance to see a show there, don't pass it up! :)

It's amazing what can be created with a really tight band with two very good guitarists!
Umphrey's McGee Rules!!
This songs message to me has always been, nobody can teach you to be you, because nobody else is you.
My own personal concerts. Love you Bro.
Someday soon, it’ll be the whole band
Wow - just one fricken' incredible piece!
this is surely the heaviest, most powerful riff in all of rock history.

Listen to the funeral portrait by Opeth. And tell me if that statement still holds true.

I frickin' love this song!
I've gotten this song for about 3/10 shows I've been to. Always a fun one to rock out to.
i can see what you mean with domino theory, but not this one. i can't get enough of it.
I LOVE the bass line in this song!
Rockin' it, lovin the venue too!
That was such a sick show. I want the whole thing!
So amazing! can't wait till you're back in September!
Umphreys is the best band around killing it at all times can't wait to see them next fri!!!
What an awesome show. We've seen them in New Orleans and here at Red Rocks. Puppet String is one of my favorites. The weather was fantastic for this show!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see them again.
agreed. best band i've ever seen live.
cant wait to hear a studio version of this. i feel like the new-er songs they've been playing are going to make for a great album
How can any self respecting human being dislike this?!
So tight. Jake dominates. Thanks for the excellent show man!!
LOVE this band. face melted every time I see them. Coming to my hometown (lex, ky) at the end of the month. cant wait to RAGE. REST. REPEAT.
that bass line
UMbelievable!
agreed. umphrey's is one great vocalist from being the best band in the country.
anyone who gave this a thumb's down might as well chop their ears off.
Knuckles O'Hoolihan right 💀
Damn it there so good!
I CANT WAIT UNTIL HALLOWEEN
UM never disappoints...
This could be the greatest guitar solo in music history
THIS IS MUSIC!
Comin' to my Home Town Apr 13th. First time I get to see them after rockin' them for 5 years. Cannot fucking wait. Hold me.
great performance, but i like the heavier arrangement of this they did on similar skin.
would love to see and hear them play more of that cd live on tour. it's just frigging awesome.
Best Band Ever!! Bayliss is an amazing vocalist!
WOOOT!
This is an utterly beautiful rend of Puppet String, It's part of an even more fantastic Sick Ass Wappy Sprayberry playlist.
Thank you, umvideo! and to the other uploaders within the playlist. Love some UM!
Playlist link please?
WOW. damn do these guys just kill it every which way. buyats
Myers crushes the back up vox in this track! If you like UM you may like BG. Give a listen while you're surfing the inter webs.
Damn read this comment and checked you guys out...absolutely incredible, checked out the penultimate show and a couple other videos, sorry you didn't get the recognition your clearly deserved. Much love!
This is sick
Aww look at how young they were :D

@5:12-7:00 says it all man. Personal favorite new song.

FRIDAY
Release a damn DVD would ya? Was an amazing night & i can say that after 35+ shows
If you're going to make a judgement umphrey's by their lyrics then just leave. Their lyrics are fine and their musicianship is incredible. They're without a doubt one of the most talented bands of this generation.
oakfo 3rd hr contemp lit came here to jam
Brendan is what makes them unique, they wouldn't be Umphreys Mcgee with a different vocalist. That is the point, they are different
No idea how you could possibly hate this song.. And also @sirclarkroberts I'm not sure how you can say that considering how far Bayliss has come and how good this song sounds.
Red Rocks again, but with Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooose...
Reminds me of that Pearl Jam song.. Alive, I think. But this is jazzier. :)
Alright, so you clearly have this whole show professionally filmed. Can I please get that Bridgeless on the youtubes? Pretty please...
Bayliss is flat sometimes but the lyrics are always great. Plus you can tell it's a focus of his to improve the vocals. They're all so damn talented. Also I'm backing up spmase with a request for a professionally filmed bridgeless.
He's amazing, but you have to include Trucks in any conversation of the best young guitarists
Definitely Stasik's best bass riff..
Bayliss's guitar skills easily make up for his singing ( which is not that bad at all ) . An as for phish i thinks its jus treys voice in general tht keeps people going back to their shows .
Goddamn Myers at 1:51. Where does he get off.
right? how fuckin dare he...
***** drummer...hes amazing. all the time. thats what he did
You're in the minority. Consensus is that this is the best new song they've written according to Umphrey's Fan Forums. But, yeah, Domino Theory doesn't get much love.
This is one of the top 3 for sure Bad Friday is maybe best to me or tied with this lol
true about trey/brendan not having an operatic voice, but i dont think it kills the song (maybe some phish songs in trey's case). the sincerity of it is where its at for me...
Why I feel they are pushing the beat? I would want them to play on the back...
Can someone tell me what the instrument/noise between 2:32 and 2:35 is?
Bayliss is the man behind this song....
DA FUQ
🤯
.... and sell it out. and i would venture a guess that the people at this show had a liiiiitle bit more fun than the overweight minivan drivers that showed up for tesh LOL

Oh, and most people think Room to Breathe or Hourglass are the worst new songs.
MYERS ALWAYS DESTROYS
Haha, when it comes to bands like Phish and Umphrey's, the last thing the fans are gonna do is respect your opinion (in the case that you don't agree with them 100%, that is). Jon Tesh has played the red rocks, so has insane clown posse. The venue doesn't make you good.
