Been following Umphreys since 2011 they are the best. Drove from calif. To Colorado to lick it in the hot tubs in Glenwood springs then drove through a blizzard to Chicago and did all four nights on New year's. 2017-2018 all I can say is they leave the best memories in my mind. One of many new years. Not going to miss them again like this year

I agree, but their not the kings of improvising.. Widespread panic would take that on no doubt. Umphreys is like a new Phish but not quite as good. But don't get me wrong, Umphreys kills it no question.
Dalton Vradenburg panic is good, but every jam seems to go to the exact same place, herring shredding a peak. these other bands have way more diversity in their jams

Dalton Vradenburg UM and Phish dont compare. They sound nothing alike, and Phish is a bunch of talent-less hacks who get WAY too much credit. Their music is so boring I literally fell asleep at one of their shows. Umphreys is the complete opposite of Phish.

Such a well executed song and jam. It's just so tight that every time I hear this song, I think of this version.
I was a DD for these guys a couple weeks back, and I was blown away. My first response was they seemed like a mix of The Grateful Dead and Iron Maiden (AND THEN SOME). They do every song they cover justice, and just jam like no other band I've ever seen or heard. So glad I discovered these guys
I've never listen to 9/4/12 and I turned this video on at work thinking it would provide some pleasant background music while I do payroll….11 mins in and now I'm just glued to my screen, headphones blasting, violently head bobbing, not doing payroll. This is some seriously relentless \um/

In a world where there is an infinite amount of art you can consume at any point, it should be pretty heartwarming that there are still people out there willing to give a band multiple chances to see if it clicks for them.
I mean, I could have spent the last 20 minutes listening to any of the tens of thousands of obscure records clogging my external hard drive, maybe I'd find yet another band mixing complex composition and improvisation in a way that jamband kids would adore. Instead I decided to see if I was feeling Umphreys enough to see them yet again. I'm not.
These dudes do this all night long. Amazing show. You come out spent.

This was such a sick show! R.i.p. Andy from Railroad Earth (love Amen Corner) your band was an amazing opening for Umphrey's. You guys killed it that Kashmir ending is still etched in my mind. I was with my best friend and new friends to witness such a sick performance! We traveled 1k miles out of the way for this it was so fucking worth! Thank you!!

Every time UM comes to NYC, i always go and see them. Cuz they're Genius! Their Tunes just grabs every music lovers of all genre, and get hooked to it...i just love the "Mashed ups"...HAPPY rOCKIN' dUDES!!!

Been an Umphrey's fan since I was 14 they had just released Anchor drops albulm picked it up at my local record shop. My pop took me in 2006 to see them for the 1st time . Was my daughter's 2nd concert at 3yo in 2018 she saw moe. at 2 years old

My second Umphrey's show and second Ocean Billy. Ive seen them many times since then but shit those first two shows stand out as the best for me.

I won a Golden Ticket at scamp in 2012. Got to make a playlist to play in between sets... I chose this show to do it. My favorite Umph show of all time and one of the best weekends of my life!! This shit STILL destroys

Umph rocks live. They rock in my car. They rocked at Stubbs bar. I think that there aren't too many bands that jump from genre to genre like Umph while simultaneously rocking your pants off. Avid fans who have heard their stretch of sounds across all releases know full well what I'm referring to. if this song doesn't grab you, fine. but check out an album or two and you'll h'ears what i'm saying.
But the albums really don't give a very good insight into how incredibly mind blowing these guys are live! I personally love the Ocean Billy from Charlotesville, VA, 9/23/11, though this is pretty sweet as well!

So there studio shit is all worth a listen? Haven't listened to much of their stuff, just looking for a new touring bands to follow
but it helps to know the core songs so when you go you can rock out that much more. Theres something special about knowing every note to this song and hearing it live.
Absolutely worth the listening too. Their album stuff is top shelf music.

Me too dude. Saw them at the McDowell Music Festival...Face fu%$in' melted!!! Just absolutely SICK!!!! One of the best shows I've EVER seen. I can't believe I'd never discovered this band before. So frickin' talented, fun, and yeah, mind blowing. Can't wait till the next time.

There are moments in the song that remind me a lot of Spock's Beard. And that's a very good thing.
Jake Cinninger is one of the baddest guitar players on the planet if not the best. The man can do it all. The whole band is epic musicians. Jake steps forward and they go up a key when jamming I read somewhere. Steps back and he goes down a key. Creativity is pretty much unmatched.
