- Recently upgraded CSX #7214, rebuilt to an CM44AC from a former AC4400CW and leading southbound manifest Q582, has a key role in this video as has E319, which is a magnificent 12,250 feet long empty coal train. There's also manifest Q581, another Q582, and autorack train Q210. Enjoy the video and some spectacular shots that subscribers to this channel have been used to for many years :-)
Oh wow! This video is far more interesting than I expected. 3/4/5-locomotive train, some had mid DPU, and a monster coal train. Great work
Glad you enjoyed it!
Outstanding Mr. MBARS. You are saving me a lot of money in air fare, car rental, and motels not having to travel to Georgia to photograph this marvelous action ;)
Lol, that's funny :) Videos are never like the real thing, but it's good to know they appear to be authentic.
Nice cleah rebuild ....great video
Thanks!
It's always good to see a new locomotive in action. The rebuilt engine is very nice and shiny, which is a rarity. The monster train is simply unbelievable. Five locos and a 3.73 kms long train. I assume the car drivers doesn't appreciate her, when they have to sit at the crossing for ten minutes. And one more thing. Fortunately the squirrel at 21:44 safely ran across the tracks in front of the train. This is an excellent video, I really enjoyed it. :)
I’m glad you liked this video, too, and I agree with all you said! The squirrel was an interesting add-on. I didn’t even see it on my small display while filming.
12,250ft for 3,73km ! What a Monster of a Train! Great video.
Yes, it truly was a big one 😳 Many thanks!
I've caught CSX running empty monster tank trains a few times while at Westfield, New York. I crew to run two trains. Excellent video. The rebuild looked good.
For a railfan, it's nicer if they run more trains, of course, but it certainly makes economic sense to combine trains, particularly empty unit trains. Thanks! Yes, it was a shiny catch.
One thing I really like about these rebuilt GE's is that they retain their 7FDL-16 prime mover. Glad to see and hear them chugging on into the future.
Great video sir!! Cool shots and catches sir! Keep up the fantastic work sir!! That’s a shiny locomotive sir!
Thanks! Yea, they still look shiny, but not for long anymore.
There’s not much like hearing the rails squeak as a train approaches! Great video
Agreed! Thanks 😊
Very nicely done!!
Cool, thank you!
NNice video with some interesting trains. Looks like they are doing some tie replacement there. That is always an interesting process to watch.
Thanks. Maintenance goes on all the time. I don’t remember not having seen new ties trackside here in a while.
I love when there rebuilt train they can for another 50 years
Nice MKT hoppers on Q582!
I know, always like to see them!
Your videos are the greatest. keep up the great filming...love them all...
I’m very happy you enjoy watching them. It’s a lot of work, but also worth it if so many people like ‘em 😊
With all the GE's being predominate now i have a hard time identifying which is which especially the rebuilds.Loved the "monster".Great video!
That's true, the visual differences are minor. I guess that's one reason why many railfans prefer seeing EMD engines. Thanks!
That squirrel has really lost its mind, and decided to outrun the freaking train. Talk about squirrel gon of its meds . Awesom video bro.😉👍
I only saw it when I produced the video but not while recording the material. I’m glad it made it across the track in time! Thanks 😊
Awesome catches! Gonna be nice seeing more CM44AC units in the future
Thanks! I'm sure we will see more of them. They'll probably rebuild most of their AC44s. It makes sense.
I've seen two of these CM44AC rebuilds up here on the New Castle Sub through Sterling, Ohio, in the past couple of weeks (both being operated as helpers on 'push-me-pull-you' intermodal trains), and I wondered what they were. Thanks to this video, now I know...
Ah, cool! You’re welcome!
Nice video like always! Love the CSX Abbeville Sub action.
I know! I haven’t done much against-all-rules (backlit) shooting recently but that’s actually the true art of photography. Thanks!
mbmars01 Freaking autocorrect got me. Sun meant to be “Sub.” Gosh darn it all.
Haha, no problem. It made perfect sense to me before either.
That monster had all clear! Nice show 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Actually, he was briefly held in Hull and the crew immediately called the dispatcher, emphasizing "we are blocking 10 crossings!"
@@mbmars01 wow... dispatcher must have been sleeping to forget that monster
No, there was another train ahead that didn't get out of the way quickly enough.
@@mbmars01 ok... the monster had to wait for the little guy to get out the way....lol🤣
Super Fantastic Video bro
Awesome, thanks!
Splendid! What a great way to start my day! Thank you!
Very cool, great you enjoyed it!
At one point, 7214 had the SCL heritage stickers as AC4400CW 256. Unfortunately as we all know, 256 lost its stickers during the rebuilding process. With 256 losing its stickers and the C40-8W's with the stickers being stored pending retirement, get those sticker units while you can.
That's the fate of heritage of the heritage lol
Awesome footage! I didn't know CSX 5101-5122 can be called AC4400CW-H, I referred to them as CW44AC-H lol
I like seeing those new CSX AC44 rebuilds. There will be more of those along with SD70MACe's and SD70ACe-T4 units! I have never seen that many ES44AC-H units on any train before or that many engines in general on a coal train, it was almost like a BNSF train!
Thank you. Well, AC4400CW is what the builder GE designated them; CSX calls them CW44AC. The H version is heavier and has advanced traction control. I don't think all five units were online. This train was basically a combination of two trains (the loaded coal trains have 110 cars) and they somehow need to get the engines back to the mine or interchange point.
@@mbmars01 ok, that does make sense about the coal train. In the descriptions of my videos when I put the power for trains, I usually put the actual model name, not the railroad company's special designation, but I keep learning more despite all I already know!
Nice catch saw a duo of these in Mobile Alabama
Thanks! Very nice!
What a Monster of a Train!
Lol, yes it was certainly big by all standards.
wow..that was really a huge monster....
Lol, yes it was.
Great video as always
Many thanks!
OKS!!! HARD to believe that those draw bars & knuckles can take the stress of all that weight when loaded as that section of track in Hull ain't level ??? ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!
You're right, this is impressive. I also sometimes wonder how it can work this way. Well, sometimes it doesn't...
@@mbmars01 OKS !!! If you would like to look at RUclips video ""To the top Crane"" --Playing with trains with the crane -- Jimmie-the crane operator is lifting wrecked coal hopper cars back on the tracks to be transported to the repair shop !!! Each car weighs 55,000 lbs mty without the trucks attached !! Very interesting to watch !! Anyhows, gives you some idea as to what the whole mty coal train weighs figurring each car at appox. 60,000 lbs each times the number of cars in the consist !! WOW !!!
@mbmars01 CSX E319-26 In This Video Reminds Me Of An Empty Coal Train I Caught Most Likely Going From Newport News, VA, Heading To Rockwood, PA Via Cumberland, MD. Note, It's The Same Coal Train With CSX ST70AH #8907, That I Mentioned On Your Video Which Had A Train With CSX ST70AH #8909 In It.
This E319 probably came through here at night; otherwise I had tried to catch him.
@@mbmars01 It looked more like sunset in the video, also the coal Train I saw, that was discussed in my earlier comment (and In your Video with the Tier 4 ST70AH) that I saw, was seen at Lorton, VA. Lastly what time would E319 Pass through that area normally?
Sorry, I misunderstood you. The coal train you mean was apparently not an E319.
@@mbmars01 That was my fault too, because I didn't explain that that was on CSX's RF&P Subdivision. Also, I'm not from the area presented in the video. In fact I have no idea of the train# that I caught at Lorton, VA and the only one I know well (and uses the RF&P Subdivision) is CSX Q031, the Schneider/UMAX Container Train That Runs from, I Believe, South Kearny, NJ To Jacksonville, FL.
Hi MB it has been a long time since I have said hello. MB I am always amazed at the size of the trains you shoot. In Maine when the paper mills were going strong the trains I watched as a kid seem like puddle jumpers to your videos. I was wondering MB do you find CSX issuing more mid train DPU’S or DPU’S at the end of trains? Nice shooting with the trains rounding corners I love that. Seeing the nice weather in Georgia gives me hope it will be that way up here in Maine. Thank you for this video MB I really enjoyed looking for to your work in 2020 Please take care
Well, we had long trains here in the past as well, but nowadays they manage better to distribute the power. The location of the DPU depends on the distribution of loaded and empty, but also long and short cars and even for the same train symbol it can vary. For example, there are two Q582s in the video and both have different engine configurations. Great you enjoyed the video, keep watching!
I just saw your new intro and its sweet. Nice catches.
Nice you like it! Thanks!
Nice catches, I caught the new engines at Folkston
Sweet!
Awesome great video 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Many thanks!
Alot of these trains leave my neck of the woods from Jersey to Duvall yard
Nice!
LOL. what a horsepower. 5 of these csx locks just locked on 200+ cars. but. do they not use all the horse power when they travel to the location where these cars needs to be delivered ?
Not all these engines are online all the time.
How many times do you have to show this train ?
The rebuilds actually kind of suck. They went all out on the surveillance but skimped on everything else. The rear handholds are gone, no electric handbrake, shoddy interior quality, etc but they made sure to have the internal camera in case we aren’t wide awake at 3am while stopped in a siding for two hours.
Sorry to hear that :/
Very nice catch MB. That empty coal train was impressive makes our ones look like midgets lol
Thanks. Yes, this one was big, but most loaded and empty coal trains here have 110 cars.
@@mbmars01 ours are 3000 tons and 30 wagons long on 3"6' gauge. Quite a difference but that's because of where we run some of our track etc
Are train horns wired to the same switch as the alternating headlights? I have noticed they come on a few quick seconds before they sound the horns, but not always
greet video man keep it up
Thanks! I'll try my very best :)
Excellent video! Do you mind if I ask what kind of camera you use?
Many thanks! I used a Panasonic WXF1 camcorder for this video.
I seen 737 like 17 times here
Ain't too long after filmed
Any idea the percent of the grade at 16:21? Looks steep from that shot.
About or less than 1 percent. Grades look more dramatic in the telephoto shots than they really are.
What camera and mic do you shoot with
I use a Panasonic WXF1 camcorder with its built-in mic.
Thank you
How often do you see Norfolk southern down there??
Well, NS has a branch line that ranges from the Greenville District at Lula almost to Athens, but they don't interchange with CSX. The Greenville District is less than an hour away and somewhat busy. I've filmed NS trains there many times.
@@mbmars01 that's what I kinda thought, south Georgia and Florida don't see ns at all
Awesome video man! I also got CSX 737 leading CSX Q605 two weeks ago with CP 7011 trailing in Mobile. I’ve got a video of your interested.
Very cool! They could really have sent CP 7011 over here :P I watched and liked your video! Have you tried the Convention Center or Virginia St. for night shots in Mobile?
Yeah they really should’ve. Yes I have gone to those locations, I’m good friend with Zach so I’ve gotten to know the place over the years. I didn’t go there this time because they dropped 7011 in Mobile so it didn’t go any farther South.
Ah, right. I think Chase (you sure know him) told me.
Yep. Good ole Chase lol
Be ready because csx st70ah are now in freight trains now wide world of trains on RUclips caught csx 8902 in new York
Yes, I know. I hope they put one on a train through here soon.
@@mbmars01 I hop you catch one I well be happy
Thanks!
Mbars In about to go to csx head quarters and ask the CEO why y'all have GE's and only 15 ACU I'm gonna go rogue on him 🤣🤣
Lol :)
'
nice train...
but must remove ugly graffiti spray and do again spray paint on the traintrailers
