I did that because 75% of my time would be outdoors. Between gargens, cooking, and swimming. I have already chosen a pond pool design. My biggest challenge was a outdoor cooking space with a TV. I love sports and need a place to enjoy that time. Your ideas are so helpful. Having a sink and bar, I can do all of my gardening prep outside. Such a fantastic way of incorporating everything. Klamath Falls Oregon, my uncle would love to do a renovation on his house which is on a hill and has kinda of a back yard/ front side yard all together. After seeing a lot of your videos I have many ideas to give him an out door kitchen ( he loves to bbq) but also give him a space to help his grandson(17 years old) get out of the house and off vedio games and get him out side a place where he can relax and get away from the stress of life, and now I am moving in with them so I would also need a place to just relax out side as I am more of an out doors person then being inside all day and summer. Sorry for the long message but again I am loving your videos and getting so many ideas to make the house feel like a home for all of us.
FOr us, we have a huge concrete patio in the backyard. The landscapers decided to use all these rocks on the sides as well. Over time, problems, cracking, weeds. If you want to plant something, you now have to dig through all these rocks. It's been a lot of weeding and work to try to fix all of this. All I can say is whatever you decide, go simple. Over the test of time, weeds will find a way so try to plan for that from the get go. And the wasps... if serving food, I would strongly suggest a screened in area/porch.

QUESTION: A lot of these outdoor kitchens have BBQs under a roof, does some of the smoke from the BBQ linger under the roof? Thanks, keep up the great work.
Yes, the smoke does sometimes linger especially if there is no wind. Being open air structures the smoke usually quickly leaves the space. We do have a few two walls on the structure and and the smoke has a tendency to stay a little longer but its usually not a big deal. If you are concerned a simple hood vent would solve the problem. Klamath Falls Oregon, my uncle would love to do a renovation on his house which is on a hill and has kinda of a back yard/ front side yard all together. After seeing a lot of your videos I have many ideas to give him an out door kitchen ( he loves to bbq) but also give him a space to help his grandson(17 years old) get out of the house and off vedio games and get him out side a place where he can relax and get away from the stress of life, and now I am moving in with them so I would also need a place to just relax out side as I am more of an out doors person then being inside all day and summer. Sorry for the long message but again I am loving your videos and getting so many ideas to make the house feel like a home for all of us.

...ahh, probably $75K and up...with the "up" being the norm.. there are some great ideas but these are not for your average DIY weekender...

FOr us, we have a huge concrete patio in the backyard. The landscapers decided to use all these rocks on the sides as well. Over time, problems, cracking, weeds. If you want to plant something, you now have to dig through all these rocks. It's been a lot of weeding and work to try to fix all of this. All I can say is whatever you decide, go simple. Over the test of time, weeds will find a way so try to plan for that from the get go. And the wasps... if serving food, I would strongly suggest a screened in area/porch.

QUESTION: A lot of these outdoor kitchens have BBQs under a roof, does some of the smoke from the BBQ linger under the roof?

Yes, the smoke does sometimes linger especially if there is no wind. Being open air structures the smoke usually quickly leaves the space. We do have a few two walls on the structure and and the smoke has a tendency to stay a little longer but its usually not a big deal. If you are concerned a simple hood vent would solve the problem.
