wish you would have included all three cameras at the end
Agreed.
Its a nobrainer to compare all cams, with all setups. Would be even more telling of cam qualities
facts
Indeed with a small text label also
They couldn't. C70 probably looked too much like the Arri in this controlled environment and they didn't want to have to try to explain to clients why they need the 100k rig over the 10k one.
ProRes on the iPhone was like night and day compared to cinematic mode.
6:45 - Ah yea, her shoulders.
🤣🤣🤣
Yay, great joke! 😂 Nice shoulders.
Too shy to address her breasts😂
Why did you miss C70 with all the lighting setups at the end? It makes the video imperfect 😢
ARRI makes everything look good, even without any lighting.
It's the glass
Glad to see y'all are still working and uploading!
LOVED THIS VIDEO. Frightening how good iPhone Pro Res is though. Also proof that lighting is technique MATTERS
Ignore that haters in the comments. This video was really insightful. I found it most interesting that you turn off the house lights entirely for an on-location shoot, we might need to adopt this practice haha. When we do interviews at a clients building I always feels weird telling them to turn off their own lights (often employees are still working in the space at desk jobs) but the results speak for themselves, looks great.
I do wish you would have compared the ARRI vs c70 with the one light set up.
It's amazing to see the difference between each cameras and how colors and compression in perceived
Also so much hard work goes into making a shot look "Natural"
Great work guys
💯
Congratulations on the weight loss.
I went from a 136kg to now, 87kg.
I am a 5'10" man..
Still have a long way to go.
Godspeed
Why use kilogrammes but still height in inches/feet?
@@Xydorf lol I am British. 😆
Tbh, I grew up in Swansea, Wales.
Until my family migrated to the USA while I was in the 10th grade.
Most of my driving was in the USA and Canada... Hence my usage of MPH...
It's confusing, I know.
I'm going to be 50 years old next year, and have been a nomad my entire life.
Comes in handy.
For distance and height, I use miles and inches... Aka Imperial.
It's only for mass and a few others, that I use the metric system.
No, I use Celsius and not Fahrenheit.
What's weird is, that is an extremely subtle thing, I've only met two people who has had called me out on it.
One was my ex father-in-law and now, you.
You, Sir, have a keen eye.

“Unsubscribe from this channel“ is reverse psychology, and it works 😅
Great stuff on this channel!
Maybe you need a bigger tripod for that iPhone, don't wanna risk it falling over. 😉
You make the iPhone 15 look like a child who needs to go back to school. Incomparable. Like, what is this? 😂😂😂
whoa... someone's lost a lot of weight!
Thanks for noticing mate, been hitting the gym for some time now
@@Visethelegend what's even more amazing is me noticing you... having NOT been in the video? I'm proud of ya.
This was very helpful. Thank you for taking time to put this together
This was amazing. I love this style of content from this channel, and it really shows the difference that lighting and equipment can make and helps to make me feel like at least some of my purchases have been worthwhile!
SO much value. Thank You!
The ARRI looks amazing, of course. But one can't deny that iPhone, and other compact/tiny cameras had come a long way. We are truly living in an exciting time when one could create anything with what they have, and the image quality would look great.
Welcome back !!, missed this kind of videos, also the drama with Lynn 😅.
Yeah bro she is upset with him maybe because she don't like to film on cameras and he don't have a model to make this videos 😂
Awesome comparison! What hazer was that you showed in the video?
Great to see you making RUclips videos again. Your videos are always helpful and fun.
Such a cool video! Thank you for sharing it! Would you mind sharing what is the name/brand of the little portable haze/fog machine used in this setup please? Thank you!
Such a nice small fog machine and a fan! What are those?
Would like to know that as well…
I as well
on the iPhone, you have to brighten your lights a few stops to greatly reduce the noise.
Had to watch twice, solid advice!
C70 vs Alexa 35 with the cinematic lighting and smoke is what I wanted to see and then a Davinci resolve correction to match -
See if it could be done as A and B cam for a multicam shoot
Great showcase of how important lighting is, almost more then camera choise.
happy to see you guys uploading camera/ lighting content again! the AI stuff doesn’t really interesting to me, but I could watch these videos all day
Wish you’d post more often, favorite filmmaking RUclipsr!
I would have liked to see the Arri without an anamorphic lens. That lens alone can make an image look different
what did you use for the haze?
He used the SmokeGENIE. But look at the LensGO Smoke because it's much cheaper and does the same thing.
Damn you've lost some weight. You look great! Love these kinds of videos. Hope you guys can find more time to post more often.
The comeback i wanted
Would have loved to see the C70.
Great video as always! Unsubbed!
The Alexa 35 is obviously way better. Beautiful!
The C70 proving why it's a incredible cam at a really great price.
Interesting takeaway. I was just thinking it looked surprisingly bad. Haha
@@TheJ_G RUclips compression makes it looks worse that it really is.
@@TheJ_G what aspects did you find bad?
Just goes to show the camera doesn't matter so much as knowing how to craft the light for it. I have used phones as a C cam in a pinch. If you dial in the colors appropriately, the iPhone could work as an emergency B or C cam. The iPhone tends to have more red in the shot overall compared to the Alexa. Also, your depth of field is quite different between the two cameras.
we love you mate! I have learn a lot from this Channel ! keep doing it
Pro Res LOG and same lighting setup on all 3 cameras would have completed/ rounded out the comparison.
I'm not sure how I came across your channel but I'm glad I did, love your content!
The C70 looked pretty good!
Even with one light, I think a v-flat just off camera left would make a difference. The one light was a bit contrasty (and too low - the shadows are very unflattering)
This channel is such a gift to this world
The iPhone looked a little out of focus on the face.
The newest iphones definitely give a great image for how compact they are. Less so when you are in difficult lighting situations. RUclips compression hides fine details so it really makes the differences not as important if at all. For delivery on RUclips or social media Alexa is definitely pretty overkill as is anything beyond something like an FX3.
Great setup. Would love to see a breakdown on a similar setup with someone who's wearing glasses. How do you all work around those reflections 🤓
Great to see you back at it!
Love this, crazy how good pro res in on the iphone, would love to see the Arri shot with an aspherical lens to show a better comparison but overall really great. Miss the URSA G2 with 15+ stops in there so that we can see what difference is between that and the Arri's 17 stops.
Bye Bye Blackmagic? 😅
What was the intensity of the spotlight which was hitting her body ?? (Awesome video)
hello broda,
where is c70 footage with the full light setup compare to alexa 35
Another great video.
iphone 15 prores looks so much better than cinematic, but that Arri camera is something else!
The iPhone footage on its own looked good, but there's no comparison once you see the Alexa 35, even with just the natural light. Thanks for the comparison!
I know they say that gear doesn't matter but just how much better it looks at @3:11 with a window key light only.. the alexa goes craaaaazy.. even a big jump between that and the c70 imo
The iPhone footage looks great, but I think also it's a perception effect. The moment you showed the C70 and ARRI footage, It was like: "I wasn't know what I'm missing!"
Awesome 👌,
Her face being darker than the shoulder is not my choice lol but otherwise the difference outside of DOF is the anamorphic lens your using. Obviously theres a billion things in post extra you can do with the arri, but I dont really do much in post im a in camera guy. I like the anamorphic look so I like the arri, but the iphone when lit well is good. Its just an ergonomic pain, and looks identical to any high end camcorder. Which is great. You can use your phone now. Handy, but not idea lol.
What did you use to make the haze? I like that it’s small and compact.
if only I could subscribe a second time, that would really show you!
3:24 this is the Alexa 35 with a $10k anamorphic lens
***FTFY 💪🏻💪🏻
I want the Alexa 35 SO BAD!! I’m not mad that, that was the cam that replaced the Ursa. That’ll be the cam that replaces mine one day too
So, what's the next best cine camera after the Alexa 35?
Thomas, are you getting enough to eat? (Looking good bro)
Love the content!! Are there some lights missing between the two Arri and iPhone shots? Seems like a back light or something is different?
Very informative, thanks!
I'm not saying that the Arri doesn't generate a beautiful image, but ultimately this test is really about comparing lenses, not cameras. Hands down, that's the biggest difference between each of the frames you show within the same lighting setup is the glass. I actually think the iPhone is a really nice imager, but the optics are generic and difficult to control. It would have been insightful to then add secondary optics onto the iPhone to point that out.
I’d love to see a reverse setup : big light setup with small camera and small light setup for big camera !
Lighting shapes your image and the camera captures it. So you can use a $100k camera without lights and it'll look like crap and you can use a go pro with good lighting and it'll look amazing. But I'm pretty sure there is a similar video about something along those lines on the Epic Light Media channel.
7:28 - where's the C70's?!
Are you shooting just ProRes or ProRes Apple-log?
I subscribed when the channel first started and have never regretted it. That said, I obviously can't recommend anyone to subscribe.
Best outro on ALL of RUclips... 🤣🎥
Of course Alexa wins !! 😌WOW comparison
Damn... Iphone is really stunning
Hoły shit!!!! - I had to stop video, after all the ligths went on - great work - damm.....
whats that hazer and fan at 7:01 ?
Just a question since you just said prores for the iphone and didn't specify with which application. Did you guys use the regular camera app or the blackmagic app for iphone?
Alexa 35 all the way ! I phone is a cellphone and a gimmick for money. but its very nice.
Where is the c70 in last test ¿¿?????
OMG!!! Thank the Lord!
You guys are still alive!
🙄
I don't understand the sense behind this comparison?
So, without a doubt, all three are different but great lighting also makes a difference.
Would have appreciated if all three cameras had filmed and showed the three lighting differences. That way we could have seen how they really measured in different lighting scenarios.
If that wasn't why video was made, then what was the point exactly? Especially since most everyone know to what end of the market they cater to.
Very cool
Thank you Thomas and Lynn. Excellent.
If you ever get to do a Pt 2, I'd love to see the Canon 24-70 on the Alexa and the anamorphic on the C70....that would tell us a lot.
Unsubbed!
key could be a bit stronger on the alexa setup imo
Ah you didn’t mention the cinefoil which I just learned about yesterday.
Hey man, my name is Johnny and I'm a freelance logo designer, currently I'm looking for more works, do you love to have a logo redesign for your channel's branding to have a memorable graphic based monogram logo with light as oart of your logo design like how your brand name has light to help your audience recognise and follow your channel easier? I would love to design a photography themed logo inspired by your direction for you! Let me know if you interested to make it happen! :-)
And as usual... I pressed the unsubscribe button twice, just to be sure.
Not sure if you did or not but you should have matched focal lengths and seen what the difference was.
I would think the real test would be shootingbthe Iphone with all tye lighting and the Alexa with just window light. That would show the power of lighting and what role each element plays into the scene
nice job keeping the subscribers number small btw, follows for years now still hasn't blown up.
iphone's cinematic mode get screwed filming hairs' depth of field.
You look like Anthony Starr but a DP
very nice, Alexa wins
You ditched the blackmagic 😢
It's all in the marketing. All. ALL.
I think if someone is making RUclips content, they should spend money on lighting over camera. An iPhone with intentional lighting goes a long way as illustrated here.
big cameras need so much lighting, kinda counter intuitive
I just learned I could mount those 4ft tube lights without the battery attached! I feel like an idiot!
In extreme conditions Alexa haven't competition.
Try again in night streets
I'm waiting this video. ❤
Excuse my english
I like book lights. But... it seems that the directionality is lost whwn you have lights that are down low and aim them upwards in to the ultrabounce (not just you guys, but pretty much EVERY example of box lighting seems to have this). Meaning, it is harder to achieve the Rembrandt style of lighting where the source is above and 45-degrees to the side (more or less). it makes me wonder whether it might be better for us mere mortals to use something like a large brolly box / parasol softbox, which would obviously be a smaller source, but much easier to get a traditional angel for the lights.
As for iPhone footage, it looke pretty good (although so much more magenta than the Alexa footage), which makes me wonder: Why does so much iPhone footage shot by most people look so bad? By bad, I mean, absolutely no skin detail and severely compressed dynamic range (ike, the HDR function was in overdrive or something).
Agreed , not sure why everyone is putting their lights so low for a book light, must create a lot of spill bouncing off white ceilings ( unless the whole ceiling has be neg filled :) . For this frame size you could have a much smaller source , closer in just out of frame . 6x6 with a light direct as long as it's back far enough to evenly light the diff frame, (which is the sole purpose of a book light ) but basically any large LED panel light like Intellytech Mega 8 or 6 , would look the same and be 100 times easier /faster to set up. If if to impress the client ,employ more crew , and build up some over time, then fine , buts just not needed for a loose head and shoulders interview.
