    Great video. Nova Custom sounds like a fantastic company. I bought a System 76 Kudu laptop 5 years ago. Last year, the cable for the monitor began shorting out causing the screen the flicker and blank out. The repair was beyond my capability but I found a fantastic local repair guy. We could not find a working replacement part anywhere. System 76 came up with the correct part making the repair possible. I love the laptop and wouldn't trade it for anything. It fits my needs perfectly.
    From the pictures and your description, your laptop is similar in terms of quality of the build. Enjoy your wonderful laptop as I continue to enjoy mine.
    God bless,
    Don 😊

    I still don't see anything groundbreaking or that like the Framework laptops don't already do. In fact I'm terms of customisation the Framework laptop even lets you swap out keyboard positions, numpad and touchpad configurations on the fly as well as focusing on sustainability and right to repair with detailed guides on how to repair/customise a machine as well as converting a laptop motherboard into a more desktop fashioned one, all things that I'm not seeing here. Really this is pretty much the same as Tuxedo do with their own lines.

    • @JakeLinux
      @JakeLinux  5 месяцев назад

      @@djvar94 framework offers a lot, I agree, but it is not the same, framework is a Windows laptop that allows for Linux optimization, they only come pre installed with windows and only officially support Ubuntu and fedora, you can get an empty laptop and install whatever distro you want but cannot get it pre installed, I know that is not a deal breaker for most Linux users, but those who want to just buy and go, framework does not offer that. Also while firework does offer many customizations, it comes at a cost, novacustom for a comparable model and setup is less money and you can get it ready to go out of the box.
      I got no beef with framework, in fact I would love to check one out, but for the price and options on a pre built ready to go out of the box Linux laptop, novacustom is a better choice in my opinion.
      I appreciate your thoughts and feedback, thanks for watching and sharing.

      Vanilla arch, I put it to a poll and arch is what the people voted for. Will most likely switch away to artix or void eventually, but will do a full install and setup of arch to start with.

    Buy any laptop. Install linux. Linux laptop. All the "linux" laptop manufacturers are rip offs of the worst kind.

    • @JakeLinux
      @JakeLinux  5 месяцев назад

      I can see your point but I don't necessarily agree with the idea that they are "ripoffs of the worst kind", but to each his own,. Yes, any laptop can be a Linux laptop. The point of this is that for those who want to buy a laptop that is all set up and ready to go just like you do with a Windows laptop.
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    • @djvar94
      @djvar94 5 месяцев назад

      Rubbish! You can't just install Linux on just about any laptop out there and expect that it will run just fine. Good luck in things like WiFi/Bluetooth, Touchscreens and other things breaking and crashing. Linux computer manufacturers like Tuxedo specifically source their hardware configurations to be 100% compatible with Linux operating systems.

      @@JakeLinux yep, driver issues and battery issues (discharges too quick) -> that guy probably doesnt use linux or did in an ubuntu install in vb thats about it, else he should know various various compatibility issues as most laptop are either manufactured for windows
      now another point i wanna add is that this doesnt do anything special as you hyped in the beginning, their website is subpar but thats okay ... but the point is you can do much more w/ framework laptops if not the same ... looks like this is just another tuxedo in the making ... so L take for both "buying any laptop" guy and you too for ridiculous exaggeration

    • @JakeLinux
      @JakeLinux  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. This is not a post to try and argue with you, I appreciate your input and view and I see what you are saying, but let me explain my thoughts, whether we agree or not.
      I have installed Linux on many brands and types of laptops with success, are they optimized for it, no, but that doesn't mean it won't work, so yes I agree with you that you may have issues, I also feel that if you are willing to put in the work or deal with small issues like batt life for example, just about any laptop (not "every laptop" I need to make sure I choose my words carefully) can be a "Linux laptop".
      To your other point, yes framework has a lot of customization available, I think they are cool and would love to get my hands on one, but for the price and what you can get pre built and shipped to you ready to go, Novacustom has more. Also framework does not install and setup Linux for you, it somewhat supports Linux, Ubuntu and fedora are the only two officially, but you have to install it yourself, if you want an OS pre installed its only Windows. I know this is not an issue for most Linux users but for those who are new to the Linux world or those who just want something ready to go, I personally think novacustom is a better option.
      But to each his own, thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

    I copped Acer Nitro 5 about a years ago, more than happy with it, run Ubuntu on it, never had any issues. I guess a lot of gaming laptops can substitute those so called Linux laptops. I believe the special one here is Framework, cause you can do anything with it as it was a PC, there aren't any other laptops even with a similar level of upgradability and customization! not available in my region tho 😢
