this laptop was ahead of it's time! I use it in 2020, runs great with the games I play, and works great for school, especially now that school only does work on computers due to covid.

One of the best Thinkpads out there... combines some good changes of the new generation (keyboard) with major features of the past generations (exchangable dual-channel RAM with up to 16 GB instead of one soldered RAM and only max 12 GB, 8 GB dual channel, full-mobile CPU, no plastic pins to remove the base cover, easy access to RAM/HDD/keyboard without complete disassembly of the machine, Thinklight AND backlit keyboard, minor downside: key layout...). I'm happy with it. Yeah - the display sucks but hell, there is already an upgrade option available for the T440s Full-HD display with a mod-circuit from china.

This Thinkpad is a great little Laptop for the amount i paid for it and comes with a Sim-Card to let it talk to any Android/ios iphone/pad Ect....The Ram has it under the keyboard + in the bay why it's also simple to buy better part's and make it work like a good thing. Great Video ....IBM was Lenovo or now is why it's so reliable and well used by many 0/

yes and no... depending on what youre going to do. heavy editing more power consumed. however i7 for basic tasks will end up using less battery in long run if youre doing light tasks.
you just use acronis boot from dvd and clone disk to disk. make sure source disk is not larger then the destination disk. i just did this on my W530 and its like a new laptop after the ssd!
Easy peacy, you dont need the the swtools folder but you can burn the whole swtools folder to an cd or usb stick. After download an ISO image of win7 pro or home, that version that you have on youre system now. Install the SSD than install w7. I did go to lenovo's site and downloaded the drivers and software i needed. Clean and no other software you dont need. Or install none updated drivers and soft from the swtools folder on youre usb/dvd.

I'm watching this with what you reviewed in 2018. I'm glad you have the i7 CPU ps Intel Core i5-3320M 2.6GHz is shit and the "s" cpu is not upgradable SSD boot time on windows 7 is 6 second vs windows 10 took 12-15 seconds. (personal experience)

If you don't mind an extra weight. Go for T430 (5.2 pounds) with bigger battery and most components can be upgraded such as fan, cpu, keyboard, ram, screen. In contrast, T430s you cannot upgrade your cpu
It is a great school laptop ( Highly recommended replace the HDD asap to avoid extreme slow performance and boot time. It happened to be after 3 years of uses). Light medium gaming are doing okay I played GTA SA and PES 2010 without being too laggy
My last stupid HP notebook keyboard stopped working for a small amount of water - condensation on fingers. If the new Thinkpad keyboard isn't resistant to water, I'm going to smash it on the concrete.

Also been looking at linux versions next and code as you live + learn through so called pandemics but to be safe everyone ...HONESTLY

No, the i7 available on this laptop is a dual core, so just like the i5, it's 35W. Google the models and you will see their info on intel's info page.

Only difference is now it has a SSD, and the original battery lasts only an hour

My 220x Lenevo seems to be pretty resistent to water. I once spilled a little bit coffee on the keyboard. Still runs without any issues.

I actually love the new keyboard. I find it very pleasant to type on... Only thing that beats it is my mechanical keyboard at home.

How is the screen? On the 431S it's a TN panel that has horrible contrast and viewing angles.
I am using T400s, my next laptop will be T430s or newer model. Best laptop for me.
