I have hunted in the state of mich for 48 years and have killed many, many deer with bow and gun. First of all what is this earn a buck bs? More govt bs trying to control to fix the dnrs lack of competence over the years. The reason is simple why you have declining numbers, it is so expensive to hunt these days then ya have to find a place to hunt and if ya hunt state land you are subjected to dnrs harassment. Anymore you are considered guilty until proven innocent. Our dnr officers are cocky and disrespectful. Not all but I have seen over the years, unacceptable. Hunting is dyeing in mich for a# of reasons don't force your problem on the remaining hunters to fix.

My friends this year didn’t hunt because the state required every kill be registered through them that is government overreach.
It really gets my crawl that the government thinks they own every animal, every bird, every fish and regulates how many each citizen of the state is allowed. I thought the State residence are really owners of all the state land and yet their state regulates what you could do. We supposedly own it yet. We have to pay high licensing fees to even use it. A good example is having a recreation passport just to be able to launch your boat in a lake to fish that along with fishing license it’s ridiculous.

The same people complaining about deer vehicle accidents are the same people complaining about hunting and gun ownership is a bad thing. Archery and firearms are a tool used in conservation efforts to manage certain populations of animals, in this case deer..... I've been hunting Michigan 30-plus years in Northern St Clair county public land as well as private with archery and firearm equipment and my and kids are also hunters but most of their friends are not due to their parents not allowing their children to be around firearms because they are "scary" according to the news media. For the past few decades the media has changed the communities point of view about the commonly used tools to harvest whitetail deer.... I believe hunting and politics don't mix but looking at the world we're living in now, the heritage and traditions will be lost.

I live in Arkansas. I wish we could send ya some. Our urban bow hunting. It's either sex no limit on deer. Beside urban hunting. U still get 6 deer tags. No more than 2 bucks statewide. So many deer around small towns in places.

Itd be nice if they enforced some laws already on the books.
Not hard to find a treestand on state land out of season. Any property, any direction from the parking lot. Just follow the orange ribbons and bright eyes.
Some are even bold enough to leave their names affixed. 😂 Ya just gotta get out of the truck.

I will not tolerate a one buck rule. The only reason for that is to give crappy hunters a better chance. Two bucks with one required to be four points on one side is fine.
Lower the cost of doe tags. If you want the population reduced don't make us pay you for our service. Allow us to take doe for the entire month of January so we are not using our buck time. Limit special hunts to doe.
Stop forcing people to buy a rodent license in order to buy a deer tag.
Last, get out of the office and look around. The high deer numbers are in populated areas where we cannot hunt. That is your problem, not ours.
Understand. The number of hunters has not changed. A large part of the hunting population go elsewhere because they are sick of playing games with this state. That number will keep growing if morons remain in charge.

Michigan replaced the head ofthe DNR with a political appointment with zero outdoor experience. Way to go gov. Whitmer. The very first thing this new DNR guy does is shut down coyote season for 3 months. I hate living in a blue state with anri-hunting on the agenda.

here in lapeer county i used to regularly have 20-30 at a time passing through my property, now the last 5-6 years maybe 2-3 at time....there are hardly ANY babies anymore, maybe 1 fawn, i used to see tons of them in the spring, also predators are gobbling a lot of the babies too...the numbers are WAY down around here. IMO they are WAY over hunted

I'm 45 years old. My car was taken out by a deer in Shiawassee County in April this year. Why don't you just give us a month and a half like bow hunting season, get rid of the stupid combo point crap and give every hunter a bag limit of 5-10 per person. Return it to the way it was in the 90's. Buck tags were 7 dollars and doe tags were 5 dollars. You didn't have to buy a "base" license because there wasn't one to begin with.

We don’t need less population of deer we could use more which would make hunting more enjoyable. Also I guess the car insurance would push for less deer population because of the amount of deer and car collision that report.i could not get lower car insurance because they blame the deer. Less people in the woods is because more people see how small the deer population is from 25 years ago. And the cost to hunt all around

These new rules are SO SO WRONG and I know that there are people that agree with me and people that don't agree with my thoughts on this. First is the youth hunt the idea of the youth hunt is to get the kids off there phones off there computer and get excited about hunting and now your going to take away of there excitement of being able to shoot a buck. Not a good way to start buy taking that away. And to make it were you have to shoot a doe to get your 2nd buck tag I do not agree with having to shoot a doe and I know this is going to not go over well with everyone but I am 64 years old and grew up not shooting does and don't want to be forced to a way to word it now day's is it's against my beliefs. I know so will agree with me and some have different opinions I don't want to make a war out of this it is just my thought

Been hunting this state my whole life. It gets worse every year. Quality of bucks is garbage. Waaaay to many doe’s. Not to mention letting crossguns in during archery season. Archery season is to short, needs to be from late Sept to Dec 1. Need to adopt the 1 buck a year tag (with antler restrictions) system. (AFTER YOU HARVEST AT LEAST 1 DOE) Then people will be more selective on what they shoot. Which means bigger/ older/ deer. Which in turn will bring more hunters for quality deer. Ban bating permanently!

Location is key. Without baiting, I can't even hunt my own property (10 acres, that butts up to another 250 acres of woods), I could hunt it, but it'd be pointless. The deer just aren't here.
Back when we could bait/feed, I might see 1 or 2 in daylight every couple of weeks.
