I'm going the other way. When pre-33 is at/near spot and well below red/blue book value, that tells me folks are not collecting but instead they are stacking. You can get some beautiful 1800's European silver/gold at-or-near spot too. Nice to have a variety. Maybe someday more folks will start collecting again... If you want something that's taking off for collectors, check out the annual Perth Mint Kookaburra Kilos, they are really nice looking and big hunk of encased silver that might look good on display as a piece of artwork.
I once bought a 1ozt Proof American Eagle for $1500 (when spot was $1525), with the box, certificate…) at a charity auction. Good to keep a lookout for those deals.
My dad did paper routs as a kid in like the late 60s early 70s and some people tipped him Morgan dollars and peace dollars, best thing I saw that he got was a $5 gold Indian double eagle.
I was a young man during that time and I also remember my dad had some of these coins also. He since passed on and now I own his collection. Fun to take them out and cruise memory lane.
Getting old gold at spot is fantastic. I haven't gotten any in a while but it's a great way to stack if you can. Also, private sales are very good, you just have to watch more closely since you're not dealing with a reputable business. Thanks!
I really don't like pre 33 because they are not a whole number of weight. You mentioned on line, I don't like that either due to shipping charges and credit card fees, I'll stick with lcs for my purchase. Great video, I'll rethink pre 33 for my stack, thanks
Pre 33s are my fav cause they aint making no mo! Premiums are higher on nice 2 1/2 and 5$ cause they actually got used/circulated for money, so most are not in good shape. 20 and 10$ are better value.
I do like the Pre33 stuff, but sadly only have 1 small damaged piece. However, i don't look for it for stacking, because as you said, it's harder to find. BTW, nice buy and congrats on getting your hands on some nice stuff.
I wouldn't take anything away from your collection. I also have some pieces that now I wonder what was I thinking. They remind me not to buy things that are irrelevant.
There are some on Etsy, eBay, among other sites. Just be sure to make check the seller's profile before and their reviews/ratings to make sure they're legitimate sellers. Just bought a beautiful 1901 $10 gold liberty head for just over spot

Hi I currently have 2; 5 dollar coronets (1-1880 and 1-1886) I also have a 2.50 gold coronet from 1845. I need help finding the correct value of these coins
10 years ago I was buying a house and had to sell some of my stack. I quickly found out that LCS in my city didn’t want to even touch pre 33. He said it’s impossible to resell. Now I stay away. Only maples and buffaloes, just can’t go wrong with24k gold. We stack Gold to one day sell it. Every one buys maples and buffalos. In Asia they don’t buy anything less the 24k. Greetings from 🇨🇦
I don't agree with buying from private parties. I think that opens the door for counterfeits to be sold if you don't know what you're looking at. Even my LCS won't buy pre 33 gold unless it's been graded.
Screaming Deal? 💰💰💰 What happened to the Smoking Deals? 🐉 If it can be safely arranged, private party sales are the way to go-- better deal for buyer/seller than going through the LCS
I find all the various eagles confusing.. the eagle, double eagle, pre 1933 vs current eagle. Have you done a video about the history and differences of the eagle?
I think the original US coinage was meant to have units of "mills" (tenth of a cent) and cents (tenth of a "disme", or dime) - both in copper; dimes (tenth of a dollar) and dollars (tenth of an 'eagle') - both in silver; and gold 'eagles' (10 dollars). Coins were often known by their fractional names e.g. 5-cent pieces were "half-dimes", 25-cent pieces were "quarter dollars". The same applied to divisions of the eagle; a 5-dollar coin was known as a "half-eagle", while the $20 piece was a double-eagle. The US stopped minting gold coins for circulation in 1933. Many years later (1986, according to Wikipedia) the US started minting gold bullion coins, with the 1 ounce coin being called an "eagle", along with coins for various fractions of an ounce. So a "pre-33" eagle (or fraction of an eagle) refers to a coin minted prior to 1933, intended for circulation (or to back gold certificates). A modern eagle is a bullion investment coin, not intended to circulate.
The longer I’m a stacker, the more I start to dabble into the world of numismatics

I've been looking into those incuse Indians. They have been a good deal online lately. Also the St Gaudens double eagles... nice!
I am finding private exchanges much more interesting. It just takes time to build a solid and trusted network.
Dont ever let your guard down and always take someone along.
Went to a local coin shop and got a 2018 Gold swan for $100 over spot. In person is the way to go for sure
Hey silver dragon. Really in joy your videos. I was wondering what your thoughts were on Asahi silver rounds?
Awesome video 👍👍
Cant beat spot price
Nice score, that;s a nice mix for stacking and numismatic collecting.
Dude I am so jealous about the pre-1933 gold. Congratulations on the great find
I'm fortunate enough to have gotten 1907 double eagle 6 years ago MS62 at a great price. I'm not a slab buyer but I couldn't pass up the price
I want to support your channel have a great Monday bro
No matter what you buy (short/long term hold or numismatic)there is always market for it should you choose to sell it.
I would buy it every month if I could find pre 33 gold coins at spot, but have not seen any in years.
Is it a good idea to buy silver or gold from pawn shop
Pre 33 gold is actually my favorite gold to buy, but the premiums are soo ridiculous when buying through a company.
i love the 2 and 5 peso mexican gold coins!
my plan to stack up gold snd platinum for 2022.
Should I trade collectable coins for bullion??? Not anything rare, just things I have bought over the past few years...

Nice stack you have there! Wowza!

One thing you lefted out of your video is after the government stopped the sell of gold, they allowed the keeping of gold coins but not bullion.
What size is that little bar there?
Gold and silver are now totally finished. Bitcoin and other cryptos are the new gold and silver
