It makes me question the decision to not have someone else voice Harlock, though I can understand refusing to do so out of respect to Inoue-san.
His voice actor was like 80 when he did it. It's funny, for a lot of aging srw actors their voice sounds worse, but Harlock feels like he's 100 years older than anyone else anyway, so it kinda feels right. Rip Makio Inoue though

Since GaoGaiGar is also present in the series (especially King J-der). I would switch the BGM with King J-Der's one. Now you watch Arcadia in action majestically while listening to the majestically bgm.
I hate to admit it but I think Yamato's attacks were visually a fair bit more impressive, but then it had the benefit of a pretty recent big budget remake to take from I guess, as well as the Yamato just having a lot more gimmicks in general. (though I think they could have done a little more here, with dynamic cutaways to the crew and so on even if this was generally being modeled after Arcadia of my Youth SSX.) But the idea of the Arcadia and Harlock being in this is still just as amazing, and that last "get me close so I can shoot them myself" attack is just amazing. It's unfortunate the Queen Emeraldas doesn't seem to be playable as well though. Like, just imagine they could have had a team attack. Well maybe next time.
Emeraldas would be a fun ambush and AOE unit. Her ova shows just how powerful the weaker of the two ships are when the Queen Emeraldas can wipe fleets off the map.
In b4 Legend of Galactic Heroes. It's going to happen, its inevitable at this point. Also Outlaw Star as the perfect halfway point between MC battleship and giant robot.
@Schway Goose because the Super Robot Wars devs and the main suits in charge of Gundam have different mindsets. That’s why we’re still not getting a Crossbone Gundam anime, but Hathaway’s Flash movies.

My only issue is the music being kinda “eh” and not fitting the amazing animation for the attacks. I ended up just using the custom music to make its theme “Seven Seas of Rhye” by Queen. Then it was amazing.
This is from 80's anime and not yet having remake version like Space Battleship Yamao. This kind of tone was popular in 80's anime. If it has remake, the OST might be more epic depends on current pop standard

It’s ability to perform manoeuvres that should, by all rights, snap it in half? Or is it just the fact it’s f*cking awesome from a visual standpoint?

While his passing was tragic, I'm glad Inoue was able to portray Harlock in SRW at least once before his death.
A fitting end to a epic carreer as it was the same year as his passing.
