I sincerely appreciate this video and links so much! I am going to use this in my classroom next week! We are new to using the glowforge and this will be our first project. THANKS SO MUCH!
The problem is I'm not sure if I know. It all depends on what one is making. Also, I'm no expert on how to use Illustrator. With this said, I'll think over some of the operations and see if I can't put something simple together... at least with respect to the stuff I use. Thanks.
Frickin Laser Design cool tutorial That’s is my next project thank you for the tutorial and i got a question i got couple of 4x6 in glass picture frame the i got on a craft store and i want to engrave photos on it do you know any good settings for glass or you think making a tutorial on glass engraving and thank you again
No problem. I hope it works out well. For the purposes of time, I did not let things dry properly between coats. Like anything, if you take your time, it'll probably come out better. Again, best of luck!
Hi. I use a Pro model and use Adobe Illustrator for design work. A lot of people use Inkscape. It's a great program...and free! Thanks for checking in.
@@FrickinLaserDesignsTutorials thanks for the quick response! I thought of another question if you don't mind. How did you set the laser to cut into the pencil without cutting through it? It that the engraving effect?
@@richardmartin1908it's all a matter of finding the right combo of speed and power (trial and error). On the GF there are presets for various materials. A good place to start is to pick a material preset close to the material you are working on...in this case wood. Once you've picked a wood preset, you'll have the option of choosing cut, score, or engrave. Choose engrave and then go into the manual settings and make sure to change the depth on the preset to match the thickness of the pencil. This should get one close. Tweak from there. Thanks!
I start with Glowforge stock settings for the material I'm using, in this case wood. I then change the setting to manual and adjust accordingly, experimenting as I go. Eventually I get it and record the settings. Trial and error.
@@bebs0647 thank you for taking the time to watch the videos. I intend to add more as I can. The next video will be a birdhouse build. If you intend to purchase, the code I offer in the descriptions can save you some (I get a kick-back too). Also, Glowforge offers financing, if that is helpful. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Take care.
Frickin' Laser Designs and Tutorials thanks and I will wait for the next project. My husband needs to build my craft room first before i add new machine. I will definitely reach out to you when the time comes.
You could always adjust the lines per inch and cut down on time. You could also experiment with different power and speed settings. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for watching and commenting.
Would you consider doing a tutorial on most common Adobe illustrator operations just for creating glowforge files ?

Thanks for the great video. Your link for the pencils isn't working. Do you have another?
Chanel Broadus thank you. I tried the jig link and it opened fine. How are you trying to access it?
how can i remove the name that is already in the file? Do you have a jig that is blank like the one in your video
Hi. Thank you for brining that to my attention. Try the new link. I updated the file for everyone. Thanks again!

Use your design horizontaly and your going to save a lot of time. Less than a minute per pencil at 220 lines.
Thank you for your comment.
nice tutorial, however, isn't too long to engrave 5 pencils for 30 min?
