Rip. I gave up on arena some time ago. It didn't used to be this bad. But now it feels like they hard match you vs your counter just because even only .1% of the player base plays that deck, you will have 40 to 60% matches against it.
Btw, anyone who thinks "zomg leyline not even that strong if they don't have creatures", 1 leyline turns their cantrips into 1 mana draw 2s if they target your creatures, 2 leylines turns their Might of the Meek into fuckin' Ancestral Recall. You'll be removing your own damn creatures just so they don't draw 3 by targetting your thing.
If they believe that it doesn't need it they're coping. If they don't think it's going to happen that's not coping, that's being depressingly realistic.
Havent played a single match against it since the update. Mono red players may not have the wild cards to craft theire little leylines. I'm thankful for the enduring cards. Theyre awesome. Especially the blue one is great!
Seriously though, I feel like a lot of people are playing monored right now because it's pushed, but also, because people are playing bo1... I'd love to see more videos explaining how to build for bo3 and sideboard better.
It's both because it's pushed AND it's cheap to build, arena only rewards you for wins. So if you have an hour of time to play, well you can get in 20+ rounds and barely use a single wildcard. Also the hand smoothing system encourages fast decks and if they removed it, any deck running less than 18 lands would immediately fall off the ladder aside from the best players

Seems from some of these comments to me that some people need to be reminded that the important metric for a fast combo deck is not the “fastest possible kill”, but rather the “average fastest available kill”. How fast the best possible hand is isn’t a very helpful metric when it isn’t paired with how often that hand shows up (and also how fast you are when you settle for an okay hand, which also matters a lot). For example, in legacy right now there are many decks that can theoretically win on turn one (but most of those decks will kill on AVERAGE somewhere from turn 2-4). The current legacy deck with the best AVERAGE kill speed would probably be necrodominance-combo, which wins in ballpark 1.25 turns on average (counting only the games it does win, it’s one of the most fragile glass cannons of all time and isn’t actually very good). That deck is truly terrifying to queue into if you don’t run free interaction not because it CAN kill you before you do anything, but because it probably WILL kill you before you do anything.

because mtg turned miserable playing against them
Well winning fast is fun for competitive players
The minute leyline got spoiled I was like 'this is stupid, I'm probably quitting 60card formats after this' and then set comes out and all my predictions are proven right.
I'm not sure if a leyline ban would be enough, scamp is also a huge problem. It's a tough call
The hero is dumb too. No idea why WotC wants to focus on making reds sole identity 1-2 drop overvalued creatures and cost effective combat tricks.
@@txflood2519 the 1-2 drop over value is fair in some decks, the frogs deck cgb posted a while back is super fair

It is a crazy world where temporary lockdown is far too slow. Instant speed removal is the only option. Of course, there's a simple way to avoid this deck - I played BW with 24 single target instant removal last night - including the 8 one mana. Thrashed every leyline deck, all two of them in about thirty matches.... Tanked my ranking from diamond two back to the start of diamond four 😂

@@danielklein5829 It's not really about this deck being broken or bad IMO. I just don't want to play a game where almost every thing is decided at turn 2. Loosing against this deck is frustrating and winning by default as your red opponent concede on turn 2 is not fun.
Very aggro decks have a place in the way the meta is oriented but this inconsistent leyline combo has none in BO3 and is not fun at all in BO1.

It's great when they don't even give proper lands so you could actually play something on turn 4. Oh wait, you're dead after playing one tapped lands if the opponent goes first.
all cgb has to is just concede a bunch of matches off screen so he can get easier opponents and favorable hands. That's how bad the sbm is in arena.
The state of Standard is a joke. I am also a known hater of mono red. Please stop it already!
I still like watching your videos, but they make me so glad that I started playing bo3 months ago lol
Rip. I gave up on arena some time ago. It didn't used to be this bad. But now it feels like they hard match you vs your counter just because even only .1% of the player base plays that deck, you will have 40 to 60% matches against it.

I'm convinced that everyone at wizards plays red
OMG! Leyline + might of the meek is an instant 1-mana draw two in RED. DISGUSTING. This deck is fractally broken.
Btw, anyone who thinks "zomg leyline not even that strong if they don't have creatures", 1 leyline turns their cantrips into 1 mana draw 2s if they target your creatures, 2 leylines turns their Might of the Meek into fuckin' Ancestral Recall. Ironically a lot of players just started playing the game too and its in possibly its worst state from what people are saying
RDW has always been bad, but easy turn 3 wins with 1 or 2 mana is obscene. There's just no reason to play the game right now.
Just as Richard Garfield intended
'Why are we here? Just to suffer?' Thats what played in the back of my head during the intro 😂
Thanks! By watching your video and using your list, I was able to go further in the ladder than I ever have! Only halfway through the video though; I'm racing you to Mythic!

i find it genuinely amusing in this video that, as you play mirrors of the match-up, it honestly demonstrates that the sequencing of the deck is actually just too complicated for the average mono red player to play correctly >:) our only saving grace is that most of them will probably trip over their own knuckles when they try to play this deck
Funny how Wizards banned Grief from Modern because it was “unfun” to play against but continues to make mono-red absolutely miserable to play against in standard

Not sure i like this though.
Will have to see how the old high noon deck with life gain removal holds up.
Will the copied spell from leyline be able to be cast?
To my understanding, yes. A copied spell is not cast unless the effect specifically says the copy is cast.
that only could work if you go first, so 50% of the times its worthless
In my first game post Duskmourne, I was on the play against mono red. With a deck configured to deal well with mono red. They had the turn zero leyline.

Been playing this deck all day. Its a perfect lesson in how the shuffler decides who wins.
If you're worried about reaching Mythic, just play Mono-Green.
Mono green in standard has been on the bad end of the stick for a LONG while, it's just not fast enough to keep with red, nor capable of compete against the fuckery of control.

How in the world is Resonance not once per turn!?

New this was coming, so as soon as the set dropped I pivoted boros tokens to be all instant speed removal.
Worked like a charm. Speed ran diamond 2 and 1 in a couple hours.
If you have the same number of removal spells as theh do creatures, you just win.
Everyone complained about mono-red, and my response was always the same. Pffft, big deal. If they play mono-red then you know what you are facing, and if you don't then they are playing a very sub-optimal mono-red deck. It is gonna be a race and you just have to get your mechanism to shut em down out, and there are many ways of gutting mono-red.

Not a mono red player, but people roping always makes me curious: What's the point supposed to be? Forcing someone to do something else for two minutes isn't the punishment you seem to think it is.
The logic is this:
Red players play because they want fast games
Roping makes game slow
Red player doesnt get what they want
