    I can’t believe this hardly has any views! I thought it was the best video on painting upholstery I’ve watched. I’ve had the same experience as you. Good job!

    I love your video. I have a velvet couch that I wanted to paint grey. I feel so relieved to know I can do it. You gave me the confidence to know it can look great. My couch is a very light tan color. Thank you sooo much. I'm going for it.

    I chalk painted a chair successfully and then waxed it. This completely ruined it as the wax left whitish marks. So i totally agree that I wouldn't wax. I then chalk painted the tapestry dining seats without waxing and 5 years later they are still looking good, so personally will never wax again 😊

    Beautiful! I love the chair that turned out purple💜I’ve always been afraid to paint furniture. I have a few chairs my cats have scratched up and I would love to paint them. It wouldn’t matter what colour they turned out. Maybe I will try it! Great video and info ❣️

    The chair came out beautifully. I always pass on velvet furniture because I didn't think it would be nice after painting.

    I truly enjoyed your tutorial. Its great to know that velvet can be painted as I always heard its not suitable. However, I noticed that you didn't reply to any of the questions left in the comments. And thats a really shame.

    Awesome video, thanks! I may have missed this, but how long after you painted the chair did you do the sanding? And what kind of brush did you use...synthetic bristle i assume, or natural bristle? Thanks again...i think i'll give it a shot! :)

    I loved this video! I really want to try painting upholstered furniture. I have two really nice comfy chairs that are a coral color, but are sun faded on one side. I hesitate on choosing the color because of your mention of painting color over top of other colors can change the end result. I would like the chairs to be a tan color, but not sure if the base color of the coral will be difficult to get the look that I'm hoping for.

    Thanks for this informative video. I am going to paint a pale pink velvet bed frame black (that's the plan, anyway-I hope the final colour will be black or at least a dark grey!). But I have an important question: How long after you painted your chair did you do the sanding?

    Years down the road, can you clean the chair? I mean with a Bissel? Or will it ruin the paint?

    • @amydillardGypsySoul
      @amydillardGypsySoul  2 года назад +3

      Hmmm good question. I'd expect that a steam cleaning would not ruin the paint but it might pull away some of the color that has broken up into paint dust over time. Anything more astringent or chemical than a gentle steam bath might pull the paint off. That's just a guess though I haven't tried it.

    Hi, so glad I found this video. I have an old patio chair that needs some love. The chair itself I plan to use chalk paint and have been trying to figure out what to use on the cushions. It looks like a decent quality heavy canvas and is primarily white with some heavily faded light blue flowers. My question for you is have you painted patio furniture cushions like this before? Do you think that going with a dark gray or a dark tealish blue would work OK? I had considered getting new covers made for it but it costs more than I want to put into this project.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello, I have a microfiber couch that had, I guess, faux leather arms. That faux leather has been scratched off mostly. Could I use the same paint I use on the microfiber on the arms?

    • @amydillardGypsySoul
      @amydillardGypsySoul  Месяц назад

      I think it will look a little different than the other fabric because the texture will be different. But the paint will probably stick if you don't water it down too much on that part. Maybe do the arms in a coordinating color so it's okay that they don't match exactly? Good luck!

    Have a question? How did you cover the silver nails when you painted that piece? I am going to do a headboard that has a bunch of those as well and I wasn’t sure how to go around them properly.

    If you enter into RUclips ''How to Paint Fabric Chairs - Annie Sloan Pain - One Year Later''... you will see my painted and waxed result. . I used a thickish coat of Annie Sloan GRAPHITE on both chairs, which you can see me doing in an earlier video, and this is the result a year later. It has now been seven years and they still look and feel amazing! I did use wax and it gave them a fantastic leathery feel and look... VERY hard wearing. Thanks for your video xx

    Thank you for making & sharing this video, I really appreciate it. I have a beautiful heart shaped chair with a gold pin tuck velvet fabric that I want to attempt to paint it a white linen or black, my house is in lots of white, grey and black. However from watching your video, I don’t know if a white linen would work being that it’ll likely turn out a pale yellow? Please let me know your thoughts/opinions?

    The grey couch your sitting on & made reference to is very similar to the couch I’d like to attempt w this process. What color was the couch originally? You didn’t happen to video record that project did you? My couch is practically the same (button pleated back - curvature of the back & arms. I was like wow, that’s my chair except in grey. The color of my couch is gold. Your suggestions in colors, ideas or anything regarding my gold couch project would be most appreciated. Like I mentioned, it’s almost the exact same style & fabric (except gold).
