Hi I think it’s beautiful!! I want to do my chairs They are dark now but I wanted to lighten the fabric! I’m a bit nervous though!! So inspired by this!
Somehow this is the most amazing display of teaching another person how to do something and learning from someone how to do something, i know I’m weird af but it warms my heart and I wish more teachers and learners could have the compassion and patience to communicate this way and learn a new skill
@Miss K G: Something I've taught my children; what separates the experts from the novice is that the former never feels threatened or insecure so is always willing to share their expertise.
Y'all are a hoot together! I saw this immediately after I saw a gal tell me it takes 4+ coats to dye the fabric on her chairs. 😲 I'm SO glad you corrected that thinking!!
I'm a Kiwi living in the UK....so it's lovely to see Astar talking to Annie. I stumbled upon Annie Sloan chalk paint a few months ago and now I'm addicted. Two pieces completed and I've got another 2 projects on the go at the moment. Love the chairs Astar. Duck Egg Blue is my favourite colour as well as Emperors silk.
Just loved this to death! You two are so great together and both covered all the questions and answers! I have been using Annie Sloan for about 7 years now! Love it, but always was afraid to try it on fabric until now! Can’t wait to do a couple chairs I’ve had tucked away just for this!! Thank you so much , I just adore the likes of both of you!
Hello Anna, it's such a wonderful solution. I adore my chairs which look as good as the day I did them with Annie. Some people wax over the painted surface once finished which gives a leatherish finish but I just left mine as they were. Kind regards Astar
Oh My Goodness. I just landed on this channel and I have to say I absolutely LOVED this! I'm 4 years late to the game apparently but what a wonderful video! Love Annie Sloan and AstarsPlace... lovely lady you remind me of Joan Crawford! What a wonderful channel and fantastic video! Thank you so much!!!
It’s my first time here. The 2 of you are cracking me up and educating me at the same time! Remember, hard, soft and walk away 😂 Thanks for this video ladies!
So in other other words water painting for furniture fabrics, I absolutely love this. I'm going to try this same sea green color to brighten my living room.. Yes Annie Sloan Thank you sweet lady ❤❤❤
You have helped. I have seen the Annie Sloan paint on a few other people's videos and I thought it was only in the States. Now I know better, much better. I have opened up Annie's website and I can't wait to get going!
Nicole, you will love the things you can achieve with the paint. I painted a glass vase at the weekend and it's fantastic. Actually I did a test with chalk paint verses baking soda in paint. Baking soda in the paint just makes it thick and then it falls off. Waste of time and lesson well learnt. Test first and if it doesn't sound right then it probably isn't! I did that video when Annie was last here in NZ to start rolling out the facts. I was due to visit her in the UK but the covid handbrake put stop to that. Fyi Annie is doing online courses on IGTV. Warm regards Astar

That was really fun because the possibilities are endless. The guest expert and both of your passion added to the experience. I love the bones of that chair.
Annie Sloan paint is the best paint in the world. It's versatile and the colours are beautiful! I use it on EVERTHING! Thanks for this video - I am currently doing a project where I am going to dye fabric and this is very helpful!
I use ASCP too but have recently discovered the chalk paint made by Waverly that I purchased at Walmart. Far more affordable along with beautiful colors as well. Give them a try!
Thank you so much for sharing this video. It was so fun and knowledgeable! I'm a newbie with chalk paint and I really need to paint some old furniture and fabric. This made me feel ready to go! I love arts and crafts, love to draw and paint. Can't wait to experiment with the chalk paint world.
Oh! So she is the Annie Sloan whose paint and wax is being used by another RUclipsr. I was watching The White Cottage yesterday, and Mary used the Old White and wax on the furniture she was refurbishing. Glad to meet you, Ms. Sloan.
Thank you ladies have been wanting to do a chalk paint on a new beige headboard. This by far is the most informative video on chalk paint I have seen. 👌🏻😘💐
I really want to thank you ladies for this video it really helped me out. If I knew how to download a picture of my sectional that I painted because of all the tips that you offered on this video I cannot thank you enough. I am absolutely truly satisfied with the results and in love with my new sectional.I did not however use the same chalk paint but I used and followed the steps that y’all listed on here and everything worked out seamlessly. I worked on it over the Easter weekend and it only took me Friday evening and most of Saturday. It’s absolutely beautiful!!
Omgoodness, so am I. My Engineer husband tells me I'm a danger to the 🌎 on the end of the paint brush. He tells his friends he has to keep moving for fear I'll paint finish him! Go forth and enjoy. Kind regards Astar
In depth from the master! Thank you, Astar! I've been wanting to paint the fabric on a chair I have, but NONE of the tutorials I found were complete. Thank you again.
PERIOD!!!!!!! At vast expense! I love this! I just used your Paint to do my very expensive Dining set and it is absolutely beautiful and I recovered the seats with a Parisian print. When I Looked at the rags I used to clean the mess up, they were so lovely. Even after the wash. Then bought a practice couch to try it out. I am GIDDY AS A GIRL!!!!
This is a nice video! Thank you! The first video that has really emboldened me to try this renowned product! Nice tone in this tutorial; very enjoyable!
Hello to you in the Netherlands. Tbh, I am so pleased I did this tutorial with Annie. It was a bit long, but we felt the time was necessary to get all the facts shared. Take care, Astar
Apart from being informative this was a joy to watch 🥰 Astar I would be just like you tripping over my thoughts and questions trying to get everything I could out of Annie 😘
This looks very inspiring, I think I will give it a try as it’s a 50/50 water mix it will be mist coating using my airless sprayer with a good few build up with several layers. It will be interesting to see the result! Lovely video ladies, very enjoyable and entertaining to watch!
I love Annie paints ...colours .shades...richness of way to apply and use ........share this knowledge Ladies new generation need bring this knowledge to next and next and next....love you guys!!!
Hi Debra, it's a stunning colour and I love it. It's relaxing on the eye and magically pulls everything together. Reminds me of Marie Antoinette. Keep Safe Astar
Hi Joan, I am beyond words pleased I painted those chairs. They look so nice in my lounge and with many bottoms on them - NO fading making or discolouration. Fantastic solution. Kind regards Astar
I am going tomorrow to buy a chair I can paint for my bedroom! It is white upholstery and I wondered what I could do to re-upholster it in black...no need now...problem solved with Annie's Chalk Paint! I am even going to try something floral on the back. Thanks so very much. 🤗🤗🤗
I thought that this was a fabulous video. It was entertaining and very informative. I too wonder what happens if liquid is spilt onto the fabric. Thanks for sharing.
I loved watching your video with Annie Sloan and painting on fabric chairs. You and Annie talk about adding wax to the chair for a leather look. Can you share more information about this technique?
Chalk paint has been around long before Annie Sloan. There are many recipes. I use plaster of Paris. Love Annie Sloan products. Just can't afford them. Her colors are lovely. She is lovely and makes paint so easy.
Have a look at the finished chair in my living room in this followup video: ruclips.net/video/kFK2O0za7G8/видео.html
Thanks for watching!

Does painting fabric make it stiff??
great! can i paint burlap?
Hi
I think it’s beautiful!!
I want to do my chairs
They are dark now but I wanted to lighten the fabric!
I’m a bit nervous though!! So inspired by this!
Hi, would green paint work on a red sofa using this method? Thanks!

I agree!!!
Omgoodness you are not weird you are so so right on! I am with you 1000%
Love that Annie is very serious about the technique and stays on course.
This is one of my all time favourite videos of all. After watching this a while ago I painted my bedroom chair with chalk paint. It’s perfect.
Did you finish it with wax
Y'all are a hoot together!
I saw this immediately after I saw a gal tell me it takes 4+ coats to dye the fabric on her chairs. 😲 I'm SO glad you corrected that thinking!!
yep :) i saw that one first too!!!
This is a natural fabric so it takes paint better. A synthetic fabric is more resistant. Also going lighter is harder than going darker

I had so much fun listening to these marvelous accents (I'm from the USA) and trying to keep up with their collaborative thought processes!!!!!!
Astar, I have never seen you before, but I absolutely love the way you hosted this session.
Just loved this to death! You two are so great together and both covered all the questions and answers! I have been using Annie Sloan for about 7 years now!
