A old carpenter told me once that all tape measures have a smart end and a dumb end . the smart end is where the numbers get bigger and well the dumb end the one with the shiny metal hook.
Fastback type rear end creates unpleasent lift at higher speed so you can balance that with a rear wing. Also front spoiler reduces lift so front end dosen't float like a boat. Have you ever heard that there is drag races for the street vehicles?

The spoiler on my Gen 2 Camaro made the steering wheel useless beyond 110 mph
I saw you on a Overhaulin episode from 2008. Didn't know you were in that show.
Once. Chip is a great talent and a super nice guy.
Ironically it was a 66 Mustang coupe! Go figure.
Is there any way you can fit it on a Mazda 3?
LOL I don't know. I'd go to a show and try and get measurements.
Downforce??? On the street? I dare say the aerodynamics of the rest of the car get in the way. Yeah, some downforce in excess of 100mph.
LOL So what you are saying is, there IS down-force on the street...
just remember that the original VW bug body is a lift body in excess of 120mph, without control surfaces. Good reason for a 45HP 4 cyl.
Wait...a VW in excess of 120...that sounds scary even with epic down-force...
Lives have been lost installing jet engines and the like in VW bodies. Point proved, Darwin Trophy awarded
