Dakota Digital: RTX-69F-MUS-X
in the 69 Mustang/ #thedisgustang
The Dakota Digital (RTX-69F-MUS-X) RTX Digital Instrument System is a new and improved gauge system that doesn’t abandon the stock appearance or the late model features you enjoy. The design of this system utilizes the OEM elements, found within the layout, appearance, and indicators. The LED backlighting and familiar color scheme are still present in this system.

I'm a big fan of this car. Not a die hard Ford or Mustang guy, but this car is just cool. And it tickles the right spot between stock and modified. Love it.
Thanks!
So glad to watch the Disgustang evolve into a class piece. Wish they could give this treatment to the entire Roadkill fleet.
Love the approach of never saying who the customer is even though we all know, lol
Way to go Lucky.. You really knocked it Out Of The Park.. This is going to be an Amazing Driver...
As always great and entertaining. Glad to come over to help you. Yes free of charge
I love that theyve do analogue looking gauges now not those awful digital ones that look so old now.
Oh what a great car! The perfect mix of stock and mods. And that patina! And that beautiful rumble!
Hey lucky, it is actually entertaining watching you work. You make every repair or modification look so easy and you never get dirty! I'm a big fan and I will be watching your Channel. Take care pal and stay safe.
That car is so cool. The sequential indicators are great and that dash came out lovely. The whole car has come on leaps and bounds, fair play Lucky ☘
Absolutely love it!
Just don't let Wreck It Ralph, I mean Tony Angelo, drive it. :-)
Outstanding work Lucky
I love it... I can see why your so busy
Thanks for the video
I hadn't realised that this was THE Disgustang at first, and when I saw the, shall we say, 'tired', paint, I thought to myself; "that looks like the sort of car David Freiburger would drive around in".
Turns out there's a good reason for that ;)
You couldn't possibly put that car through any worse kind of driving then what its already been through! Glad he saved it, and glad he built it so tastefully and sanitarily thanks to you!
thanks for the dakota digital tip!
Freiburger was going on and on about this on Fb. I would too. This car is coming together. Great work Lucky.
Great video Lucky!!
I forgot to add, DF will sell this heap in a few months, lol
Nicely done wonderful attention to detail
Hey Lucky, I want to share a tip for restoring any sun yellowed plastic like the dash parts you are working on, a product called "Salon care 40 cream", you get it at a beauty supply store for less than five bucks. Brush it on the parts, seal in a clear plastic bag and place them in the sun for a couple of hours, then just rinse them off with clean water. The parts will look like brand new without scrubbing or sanding delicate parts. It worked great for me restoring a Bose wave radio among several other parts and covers. I know you hear a lot of crazy stuff on the net but this really works beyond belief.
I'm guessing it's got peroxide in it. A lot of the vintage computing people have similar problems with old computer cases turning yellow, and they use similar products to restore them.
@@phuzz00 Its 40% peroxide, strongest concentrate I could find over the counter and still be cheap & easy to buy. Also being a cream it pretty much stays were you put it.
I'm building about six 69 mustangs right now, so its inspiring to see your progress on the disgustang!
I’ve been watching you for years. If I ever get to L.A will try and look you up. 👌
Fryburger said he wanted a daily driver and not have to worry about the paint. I hope he doesn't just drive it for a month and then leave it at the raisin farm to rot away. Everyone did a fantastic job on this car. Hope to see it in some Motor Trend event's
good job on this Lucky. I'm ready for the next project !!
Always cool to see your work. It makes me s hobbyist want a great result on my two projects . A67 c10,a2000 GMC shortbed. Go Lucky!
thoroughly understand why "CUSTOMER?" (Frieberger) had you do this....great work Lucky . Dave would still be looking for directions he tossed last year...
Love it... will get the kit...get the Mustang later..hum...maybe going the wrong direction...will think about it.
Nice haircut Lucky - quarantine ‘do’ is done. Looking clean and may inspire me as mine needs some attention 🤨
just bought a 72 c10. Excited to start making it mine.
Get a video of it up ! Let us see what she started from...
"Customer" :D Dave's really going to enjoy that car. Its impressive how far its come since it was forked out of the bone yard.
That car has come a long ways.
Mustang 69-70 is my favorite #01, nice gauges BTW.
Great work @Lucky!!!
Lucky, on one of the HRG shows you said no chrome sockets on impact guns. THANK YOU... it is a pet peeve and a real safety concern as cracked chrome plating is like a razor blade sinning in your hand. You are the ONLY Host/Tech that has ever said that it is unsafe, and it is.
That's a clean setup
👍👍from this guy
Looks great Lucky!
The exact idea of this car is awesome!! Functional yet doesn’t look brand new!
American Auto Wire 👍 highly recomended ! Nice job on a real world cool car !
The dash indicating instruments are excellent, the exhaust / engine sound is impressive. Like the rear turn illumination sequence function. What is not to like? 👍
A man has to take a test drive Lucky to check everythings ok.....and if you happen to get into any "trouble" make sure you video it for us!......👍😆
Nice work lucky
Yeah I love those gauges I have some in my 1973 hurst olds
I have the Dakota Digital fan controller on my LS Cherokee. They make great stuff.
I love seeing this car coming along. It's way too nice for Freiburger now!
Nothing but shit on YT tonight until I saw LUCKY'S GARAGE!!!! Now I have something to watch!!!!!
Good job, great work. I’m dreading doing the wiring and dominator Efi on my blown big block, but watching you makes it less daunting
I used the American Autowire to completely redo the wiring in my ‘71 Camaro. It’s highly recommended. You do have to cut and terminate most of the wires but that gives you more flexibility.
Love the Dakota kits. Unfortunately here in Australia they aren't cheap. Nice job.
They aren't cheap in the US either.
"This car has come a long way." is probably the understatement of the year! :)
Looks great
Quality work there Lucky... not sure about disco lights... 😁😁😁
😒
Nice job
Does he still need to put in the rear side windows? Will the Dakota digital connect to the stock harness? Your work is awesome!
Dakota digital is ‘stand alone’. Comes with its own engine sensors etc. All wired to a small circuit board that runs the gauges. Does not plug into stock wiring harness.
*ROAD TEST !* my boss always used to cringe when he heard that : ]
Nice!
Has Freiberger fixed the rust or should I say replaced missing body parts yet?
He had hotrod ranch or someone in northern California do all the sheetmetal work this car is fully restored aside from the paint
@@jdias51 correct. The car has zero rust other than the surface stuff you see
I really envy you guys in the States that can buy beautiful bolt in gear...
Here in Australia I'm into Aussie GM stuff (Holden) but because of low production numbers no one makes this stuff....You have to live on Ebay/swap meets 😪
And most cars are 4 doors haha
@@superduty4556 Not the classic "muscle" cars mate....Google 1968-1974 Holden Monaro.
Great job bro.
lucky for President
Did MotorTrend license the name Freiburger? As always, good job Lucky.
At least someone’s stuff is working out, I’m going backwards it seems.
How did you connect your speed sensor cable? Did you have to use the AOD adapter?
Where do I get that fiberglass hood? I LOVE the Disgustang!
There is an old Disgustang video in which David Freiburger gives an update on the car, he mentions it’s a Cougar Eliminator hood and he may have mentioned the brand/supplier but I forgot. Go check that one out. It’s the video I’m which he has the bronze steel rims on for the first time
I’m in the process of adding these gauges to my 69 Mach 1. It appears that these gauges eliminate 2 of screw mounting points that hold the gauge cluster in place… and seems like it would be less secure. Did you have to do anything additional to compensate for that?
Lucky is the Tom Silva of car building .
Who?
He's a master carpenter on the This Old House show. He's so good at what he does that he makes everything look easy. He does a great job of explaining things as he does it. It's a valid comparison.
Love the RTX option. Too bad the outer ticks on the tach and speedo don't light up, at all ? Unlike the original gages that do. Why would DD do that?
Is that blue smoke I see coming from the right bank?
Lucky do you know of a person that does the same quality work you do that you can recommend? I got a 1960 Chevy c10 that needs to get rewired as well. Plus I also bought the dakota digital gauges.
Is that David friebergers car?
yep
I going to doing ls swap on 2007 mercedes gl450 going to try to figure out a way to keep the all wheel drive
How many Roadkill cars have those wheels been used on?
Can't really call it the Disustang anymore.
"The Customer" aka Freiburger
This car needs a coat of Matt clear to preserve the patina exactly as it is.
Is that still Freiberger's car?
Were you listening to "I am Gasoline" ? lol
He was talking about the sound system and I thought he was going to play it😂😂
“Customer”
Dave's paying so...
@@jdias51 correct
@@TheDavidFreiburger where is stubby bob, the crusher, etc long time fan and viewer miss the bigger "higher" end builds of roadkill stay safe love the mustang
@@TheDavidFreiburger Cant think of a better tech to pay to do the job.
This looks great ! Is this going to be restored or roadkilled into the gound !
2:13 If you leave them on the customer won’t remove them - then they get baked on over time and it looks like H-E-Double Hockey Sticks.
What brand of console ?
Maybe a factory hood and paint..I don't know.
is that the new steady camera man?
That's Friburger right? The disgustang
Yes
Would you let lucky drive it?
mustang is cool
What's taking so long with the old red Chevy?
Because I keep adding more Mustang work
Customer paying a premium?
Lucky is gonna de-shitbox the disgustang too much and it’s gonna be nice resulting in Freiburger selling it.
is that fribugers car
Does Dave ever build his own cars? Or just hack and go on roadkill
He built and then rebuilt this car.
@@luckysgarageshow oh I thought he had the hotrod ranch do most of it love the car
@@jdias51 I don’t do metal work well and never have the time for the detail work like Lucky is doing. I shoot shows every single week. If I am going to make time for off-camera wrenching, I prefer building engines.
@@TheDavidFreiburger makes sense time management is a hard thing to master
I Hope Friberger decides to coyote swap it next.
Zero chance
I love your work Lucky! Your approach is so Chill you make it all look easy! Keep it up brother, someday we’ll get to work together! Check out my junk on the you tubes. Mongo’s Garage!
It ain't called the disgustang for nothing.
Digital??? These are electrical instruments with non-mechanical elements inside. Pozz.
Personally I blame squirrels
Don't you always
@One Mans Treasures 👍
Never before noticed what a stupid location for the clock. So deeply recessed into dash only viewable from shotgun seat. If you're driving solo, you're SOL. Not a big deal in the digital era, but still. Of course, most of them don't work anyway. Minor nit, sequential tail lights are too fast.
"...customer"? i don't think a soul watching this doesn't know who the owner is hahaha
sidemarkers... hnnngg
I hope he doesn't paint it,. And just keeps driving/hooning it..
Correct. Though I need to find a way to stop the roof rust
Who else is scared of wiring?
