    Great ingenuity Tony! Very simplistically DIY video, but I can surmise probably quite tedious.

      Robert, Thanks, in this day and age I look for the simple things I can use on the layout to saving some money to buy other railroad items. Glad you liked the video. Tony

    Love the fiddlin' music. And I agree with you on having just a 2 wire fence line. Having 3 strung would make it look too busy I think. Good work!

      Thank you. Good point as three-line would be a busy/distracting maybe to the eye. I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Tony

    I think you may be thinking too much about the visibility of the lines between your fenceposts. If you go out into the 12 inch to the foot world you can’t (or don’t) perceive the lines unless you are really close. I would keep the posts bare of line except for fencing close to the viewing public. Your layout is beautiful and inspires me to hurry up so that I can get past my rough setup.

      Jim, Thanks for your input. In this case, my fence posts are right up front on the layout. Thanks for watching the videos and continue with the progress on your layout. Tony

    Hi Tony, love the subject matter, why and how you fence wire and how to install. This is a very meaningful video and directly applicable to my farmland oriented layout. The wire concepts and suggestions are spot on as well as the how to attachment. I'm still not clear on how you do the fence posts as the audio is quite low and no "closed captions." If you could increase the volume and perhaps add closed capture for my hearing deficient ears. Great series, wonderful layout and fine instructions. Thanks!! - Dean from Minnesota (prairie)

      Dean, Thanks for your compliments and I'm glad this is something that you found of interest for your own layout. Sorry about the audio on the toothpicks. I simply cut them in half using them as my fence posts. Tony

    Your layout looks great. Trains look very smooooothe! Thank you for the N scale tips on the fencing. I'm all for cheap. I am also very near to adding fencing around my modular helix. Thank you for uploading. I subbed as well. Again. Layout looks great.

    Would that one spool holder work better for what your trying to do (used for fly fishing and archery). It has a end on it that let's the line out so your not fighting it. Sorry, but I got a brain lock and can't remember the name of the tool, but as I said it's used for tying fly fishing lures and also a tool that's similar for doing serving on the bow strings. Good luck.
    I have one around my house somewhere so I gotta go hunting for it. I really think it will make that a lot easier.
    Even might make it easier to do the power lines. Thank you for the idea.

      It certainly might be worth looking.into. Really it is not too bad how I've done it. I just need to keep the line tight as that helps greatly. Thanks for watching! Tony

    Hi Tony, great job buddy! Those fences look great, and I like the idea of the grey thread. You're right, I think the two strands look fine. Are you going to wire your telephone poles too? Thank you for sharing this with us, and have a great school year. Dave .

    • @CornCountryRails
      @CornCountryRails  5 лет назад

      Dave, Thank you for watching. I'm not playing to wire the telephone at this time as I'm still doing a lot of scenery work and know that they could risk getting damaged. However, sometime down the road that could be an option. Thanks for the wishes on the school year, I'm looking forward to it! Tony

    Nice technique Tony,
    In the episode you said that select threads tend to blend into the surroundings. I was wondering what weight (density) of thread you are using?
    I am an HO'er. And yes. I do use metal string for scale and visibility. However, you have me curious as to whether or not a heavier spin, on the thread, maybe more effective.
    Also, my Upstate N.Y. RxR Modeling Club is a certified S.T.E.M. Classroom Facilitator. No I am not a teacher. But I am wondering if you have utilized your layout as an extension to your classroom? For a Parent/Student Operation Session? If so, do you have any videos you could post?
    I do enjoy your layout and your smooth delivery.
    Thank you.
    I'LL SEE YA' DOWN THE LINE.
    Jim

    • @CornCountryRails
      @CornCountryRails  5 лет назад +1

      Hello Jim! The thread that I was using I believe is a 40 weight. It seems like it is more the color of the thread that blends into the surroundings and the weight plays a small part of that too.
      Oh yes, very familiar with S.T.E.M. at our school. I have not used my layout as part of that but have discussed model railroading with my class when it is appropriate. I have also had Boy Scouts over to see the layout and operate as part of their Model Railroading Merit Badge. Sorry, however that I do not have any pictures.
      Thank you for watching! Tony
