Yet another fantastic video! Thank you, Tony. It looks like all involved had a great time. I really like that you allow "run throughs" of trains on detour, like that CB&Q freight this time around. Also that you have "billboard" refrigerator cars in your consists. They add a lot of character to a freight, IMO.
Hello, Sean. Thanks for watching! Oh yes, I like the detour trains as well, or when one of my Operators' bring their own power for the evening to run a train. It adds some nice interest to the evening. This past fall when I was at the Chicagoland RPM Conference there was a great clinic given on the billboard refers. I'm thinking I might have to look for more refers in June at the N Scale Convention. Have a great Easter! ~Tony
Nice Video Tony, I just love to watch your trains go somewhere, a lot of running, always special to see.. Happy Easter to you, Jen and family. Spring is out there somwhere.
Thank you for watching. Yes, the trains were running that evening even though outside felt more like winter than spring. I hope you have a great Easter! ~Tony
Thank you for watching. Oh yes, the grain door boxcars are some of my favorites. Thanks for noticing my RS-2M on the layout. That was a fun model to kitbash....before they started making 3D shells of them. Have a great Easter! ~Tony
Sorry I’m so behind viewing. Thank you for taping your op session. It’s interesting to see how someone used car cards and waybills since I’m leaning towards the use of them. I thought I might be lazy and just leave trains as they are at the end of sessions instead of classifying cars that hadn’t been yet. In a layout I’ve op’d on, I think they mostly fill out a form at the end of the shift indicating what the crew last did and planned to do thereafter. Then the next shift knows what needed to be done the next time. I planned to do as the manager of that layout does, and at least stage the next consist as the timetable indicated for the next session. Like you, cycling of cars can still be done as well. I like the idea of the google forms instead of monitoring email rsvp’s. I would think some smart google programmer or user may have figured a way to terminate the form when a quota is reached. I’ll have to search to see if there is a solution.
Thanks, Bob! My spring break from school is coming up and I will be working on sending out information/invites for the April Op Session. Have a great Easter! ~Tony
Omg, I love the Google Form usage. That’s a #PeakTeacher move right there. Locally, our guys just send out mass emails, and then there are SO MANY replies. So many. This is a great solution to that.
Yes, the Google Form usage comes from a modified form that I've used as an elementary teacher. I figured if it worked for my students and parents it certainly could be modified to have a model railroad application. The other nice thing is the Google Form will also sort the responses from those attending, which is nice. When I have the amount of operators I need I can go into Google and set it for no longer accepting responses. That saves me from having to email everyone that the session is full. I have been pretty happy with it and I can change up questions and get feedback before an Op Session. Have a great Easter! ~Tony
Looks like an enjoyable session, Tony, lots of operational interest. I love a busy granger railroad! Do you turn off locomotive sound during sessions, or just not use sound at all?
At this time I have no units with sounds. I had some BLI units 11 years ago but within months the sound went out in them. So my engines are silent and I sometimes play a Green Frog Railroad sound effects CD for ambient background sounds. ~Tony
Hello everybody, very nice layout and sceneries, amazing !! I have a question please ;I use JMRI for run my locos, but it's impossible to synchronize 2 locos at the same speed with JMRI ,do you have one solution for my probleme , my decodeurs are SAI 1182 ,not TSUNAMI or ESU .I thanks you for your answer ,have a nice day ,see you soon .
Unfortunately, I may not be much help as the decoders I tend to use are TCS, Digitrax, or NCE. With my old computer, I was able to use JMRI to speed-match some locomotives. However, with my new MAC, I do not have the right cord to connect to my command station. So I have been speed-matching using a few key CVs. Does JMRI support the decoders you are using? ~Tony
@gerardlucs7370 sorry I’m very tardy in viewing my video subscriptions. Hopefully, you’ve figured out your problem by now. You appear to have uhlenbrock decoders. If you find that jmri can’t read your decoders, it may be the volunteers that enter decoder definitions into jmri haven’t entered them for your decoders. If you have a manual with the cv’s listed for your decoder, you might post a request for help entering the definition into jmri for you. If you haven’t joined the groups io forum for jmri users, do that and ask for help there. Otherwise, if your decoder can program cv’s 2, 5, and 6 (I think those are correct for the low, high, and middle speed settings) you can use your system to set those as close as possible. Good luck.
That fabric was purchased in 2008 at Jo-Ann Fabrics. I told my mother-in-law that year I would love to have some kind of shirting to hide all the stuff stored under the layout. That year for Christmas she had made me several eight-foot panels that I have Velcroed to the layout. They work great but as far as I know that fabric has been retired but there is other railroad fabric out there. Thanks, Tony

Very nice layout and op session. Love the grain doors and the repowered ALCO with

Awesome Ops session Tony! One of these days I'm going to have to plan a trip to visit your layout!
If you are ever in the area let me know in advance and we can make that happen. Have a great Easter! ~Tony

Where did you get the fabric for the table skirting? Am interested
