@@ItsMyRailroad My grands and great grands and I connect with trains as well. There's just something about model trains that us kids of all ages love. Quick little story that you may already know. A dept store saw Lionels first little electric train that he made and asked it they could use it in a store display to bring attention to some of their merch. They set it up and in a few days he got a call. "didn't help the merch but we sold the train, can you make us some more?" The rest, as the say, is history. I'm sure I took a bit of license in telling the story, but that was basically how electric trains got started.
While I may watch others for those advanced techniques on wiring, DCC and all that, I absolutely love your energy and straight up passion for the hobby! It's absolutely beautiful to see. Never lose that enthusiasm.
Hi Steve, always great to see you. Shout out to your grandson, the kids are good reason to do this. I like the regular guy perspective, I was spending way too much time on little details only I could see, lol. Getting ready to try your speed scenery. Cheers Robert
Cool 😎 yard Steve. The beauty is indeed in the detail. However, not too much emphasis on the rivets. Because, when your beholders can’t really see it, wouldn’t it go beyond what is intended for. Anyhow, adding to that point, pun intended; the little story you conveyed about your grandson enjoying the ‘it’s my railroad’ together with his pops is truly what model railroading is about, as far as I’m humbly concerned. Of course it’s about building our very own worlds. And to share that with our children and grandchildren will just teach them, in this virtual age, there’s worlds beyond which are tactile and can actually be touched and be played with. Like it’s the real thing. That’s something what your grandson will remember and hopefully will pass on to his kids and grandkids. That very tactile aspect is what enhances our imagination and creativity. Love it. Thanks 🙏 for sharing.
Nice yard scene Steve. Have a suggestion. If you have a place for a saw mill coming up, move the steam yarder and the other bits of old logging equipment there. It would look like it belongs there , better than as part of a yard scene.
I love your style and the way you talk. You're pretty down to earth and hilarious. Subscribed. You've motivated me to start on my N scale Great Northern layout so thank you so much, Steve!
Steve: Yet another great just a regular guy build! So neat. Good to see the next generation of regular guy rail roader visited. Really like you yard tower..
Hey buddy I'm at a loss for words ...it took my breath away and I think this is an amazing journey ...the ride is awesome Steve my friend thanks for sharing ...God bless brother
This is great. I don't have layout yet but I collected a few pieces of power and rolling stock. I have no place to build so I dream and struggle. I think I have found a small track plan that may work. Thank you for make the hobby feel fun.
Steve, your layout is on fire and I love how you detail your deal in your videos. Keep it up and give me a shoutout on your next video, brother. Rail on, cochise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Steve, I’m loving the new yard and the whole new layout, it’s much more open and you have done a great job on the rail yard. You seem a lot happier with this layout as well. Rail on brother. Been here the whole way and enjoying your regular guy attitude.
Hei, Steve! I was impressed when you said, "dry wall compound". That's what we have down under. I was thinking from other RUclips channels, that Americans have "sheet rock". :-)
Great to see what you have done with your new layout. All the small details you added sure adds to the yard. Like the rusty tin on the one building and how you even used the fruit market building. You really improved the portal by blacking things out. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I have to tell you I absolutely love your videos, you’re so much fun to listen to, I just hope I can build something as great as what have done, being my first layout not sure what will evolve!
Thanks Steve. Nice Video. A repair shop facility is the next area I want to get done on my layout. You gave me some great things to think about when I work on that area of my layout.
I love the practical tips you lay out! Watching you use the compound to make the crossing point reminded me very much of watching a crew do the very same thing with asphalt one day. They raked it into the crossing, rolled it out ... and then had a GP-40 that was standing by roll through the hot asphalt, squeezing the mix off the rails and leaving behind a nice channel for the wheels. :-) Keep it up! I love this project, and the reaction of your grandson is EXACTLY what I am hoping for in days to come with my own.
An absolutely outstanding video and great job covering the layout. Love your enthusiasm and details of how you accomplished some of the scenery...I am very new to model railroading and was very impressed with your layout!
Thanks for sharing with us. Your techniques are awesome and it looks really great! The snippets of ballasting jogged my memory and I'll probably try some soon!
Watching your videos has inspired me to scratch build some structures for my HO layout and to add much more detail as well. Love the new layout. Can't wait for the next new video. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi Steve. Great job on the rail yard. I love the little details you added it brings the scene to life. Really like those sections of track stacked up on top of each other. That is a great detail! Look forward to the next one. - Nicholas.
Awesome video of a very nicely done yard. The details and lighting really make the scene come to life. Rail on yer self Brother and thanks for sharing. Cary
Love your show. Watch it every weekend while I’m working on my layout. You’ve brought model railroading back to life for me so thanks a million. Not sure how to become a member but I’ve subscribed to your channel. I’ve even bought some gear. Not sure if I missed the broadcast but would like to see how you tack your track down. Thanks again
Lookin' good Steve. I enjoy seeing what you have done as it always stirs ideas in my head for the next steps as I continue on my layout, where I now have about 75% of the track in place.
Nice job. My only recommendation would be to make the concrete more grimy in places - like oil leak spots where cars park, and around the fuel servicing area, and other places where it makes sense. I did research on a yard and service area where I live, and the tracks, fuel and service areas were almost black with 100 years of use. When they removed the tracks and decided to sell the land, they had to go through an environmental remediation due to the level of chemicals in the soil there.
Love the video. All the details and everything has a purpose for being there. I think you need a few bins to add to the area. Garbage Bin and Scrap Bin. I 3d print them.
Yea! No one yard fuel loading. Great! Like your OSHA approved hand rails on the storage tanks. I will need to remember where you got that stuff from. Been wanting it myself. Thanks man and rail on!
Pa pa. Best job I ever had. If i'd have know how special they would be, I would have had my grand kids first!
Well, they are all awesome. But, this one seems to totally dig the layout. Sweet!

Yeah, my grandson got me back into the hobby. He can't get enough.
Dude, I like your every guy attitude. I’m getting back into the hobby after 12 year hiatus you’re making it happen for me. Thanks bro.
Steve, Great job my friend! But you need a few more pickup trucks around that Maintenance building.
I love your model trains I have a layout in my basement to, you are the BEST.

Hi Jeff! Thanks for your continued encouragement! Love seeing your name in the comments.
Can't agree more! the enthusiasm is addictive!! thanks for all you post Steve!
Really like the weathering on that rounded top rail house!

Very cool detail going to use a few items on my track ! Thanks
Inspiring as always. Love how the return loop just somehow is not at all obvious in the scene dispite being its boundary. Awsome.
Another great video Steve. You always give me ideas for another scene to detail Thanks

Steve, looks great and I know the feeling of tearing down and rebuilding a railroad when I had to work on Trewsville Southern version 2 back in 2012

Really nice work there Steve. Thank for sharing you art and talent with us out here in model railroad world!!!👍
Nice vid. Great progress. Looking really good.
It looks great as always, I was inspired to begin my N scale layout, with the first bit being Blair Line’s Drive-In Theater.
Nice job. My only recommendation would be to make the concrete more grimy in places - like oil leak spots where cars park, and around the fuel servicing area, and other places where it makes sense. GREAT!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
The yard looks great you gave me some ideas when I get a place ready for my trains
