BMW and Mercedes backed a state media propaganda against Opel for making a faster car than them. BMW and Mercedes had an agreement to limit their fastest cars to 155mph/250kmph, and they didn't include Opel because Opel was the poor people's brand, and they had no idea they could make a car that would give them a run for their money. Ofcourse the Lotus Omega wouldn't have outcompeted BMW or Mercedes, but it would have taken alot of their customers, since even hardcore BMW and Mercedes fans would have decided to get an Omega, because of the sheer performance provided for a reasonable price compared to their own overpriced equivalents. It would have broken the myth that you need to go expensive to go fast, so BMW and Mercedes were having none of that and most likely lobbyied (bribed) media to slander Opel - for making a car that "encourages breaking the law" (even though their own cars max speed far exceeds all speedlimits outside the autobahn, and drivers are notorious for doing it cuz they're rich and above the law). They also claimed "a four door family car shouldn't go that fast" (even though a decade later they started making plenty of cars like that themselves). And unfortunately that damaged the car's reputation enough to make it sell poorly, and get discontinued. Even in the UK they asked people for 6000 pound taxes for warranty on them - even though the Omega Lotus was still a relatively cheap car. So yeah "free market" and "fair competition" is a myth. Its only a shame Opel gave up, instead of making an even faster car just to try selling a few, or to prove itself in competitions.

A váltó a c4es corvettből való. 2000 fordulaton valahol 200 környékén jár 6.ik sebességben. Én csak 1 motor variánsról tudok, a 3.6os. Egyébként kedvenc szedán autóm. Alpina B10 biturbo volt komoly vetélytársa a 90es években. Valahol 300+ volt a vége.
A JST 433 masik magyar sokkal szebb állapotba van mint ez :D ez sem rossz,de azert ez vissza lett tekerve vagy hogy lett 155.000km rol hírtelen 65.000?
