This just show's you how humble Lord Finesse is, one of the most iconic producers in hiphop and he is showing us his actual tricks of how he makes beats. I guarantee no other producer in that level will share his knowledge like that. Hell, im not telling my friend my tricks LOL. getting on this lecture really help me with a beat-block i had. pay attention cause he is dropping creativity bombs all around!
He's a master with the hardware, now, he's going crazy with ableton. Man...he's a genius! Never even thought about that thing he did with the drums, with legato and stuff. Wow, blew my mind! Cool trick!
Это один из сильнейших , лучших битмэйкеров и продюсеров старой школы! К сожалению, очень недооценен у себя!! Непонятно почему! По мне он уровня Ракима, Африка боомбата , КулХерка
Everything is a trade off. As someone said he is using both the mpc ren and Ableton. Still has the MPC 2500 for sure. He obviously decided that there were features in Ableton he couldn't pass up on. Dude said he had personal Ableton tutorials meaning he is fully invested in Ableton. I love to see these icons embracing new technology. I respect the guys that are sticking to the older mpcs but there's too much dogmatism in the beat making communityl. Ableton is a fully funcioning Daw meaning ANY sound you want you can get in Ableton. It's natural sound is UNCOLOURED. If you want a warm punchy 12 bit sound...There are ways to acheive that. You reduce the sample bit rate using Audacity. You can use RC20 plugin to give it vintage colour there are literally thousands of ways. The hardware is NOT the only way to achieve that sound. Case in point. People couldnt believe 9th Wonder made his beats in fruity loops. I.e the sound he got out of it didnt fit with people's ideas of what FL sounded like.
@@boombaporiginal3359 But who cares? If you are obsessed with sp1200 sound get an Sp1200. If you want to make music and explore and experiment with modern techniques, modern plugins as well as mixing and mastering, Ableton is a great choice. Literally there is a niche group of people that care about this shit. They just don't realize that nobody else does.
Naa.. it’s just 12bit. You can prob get similar effect by just using lofi or tube plug-ins or converting to 12 bit. That said Emu did have a way to make things sound good.
@@madclassix9909 Bout 1:25:00 ish, says he locked himself in his room making beats for two weeks and most of his first beats that went out ended up on the album, insane
Theres another video where he says "school days" and "times iz hard" were some of his very first beats he made. Legend from day one most these rap cats dont know where it started where it came from
No offense, loved Lord Finesse since his first album but man this laptop stuff just seems to suck all the joy out this process compared to beat machines, also warping ain't a great idea generally, you can hear it. It mangles the audio. There are much better ways of doing this on hardware. Still a hip hop legend though don't get me wrong at all!
Lord Finesse is just the nicest guy....generous with his time, knowledge and love....a true Gentleman....

wow i never thought lord finess would ever switch to ableton.
Same
He's been using Ableton for years now but he also still uses the MPC Ren as well.
why would you think that?
A lot of legends did. You can do anything with it when you know it. And it links perfect with hardware.
but so grateful 😭
No offense, but for me I want to see Finesse on the SP1200 or MPC.
Same. This feels so clinical :(
Thank you finess. You are a legend
Inspirational man!!

imagine a Lord Finesse masterclass with no drum machine....
Who ever filmed this really missed a great op to keep it on screen when he was going through the breaks. Only got about half of them.
Where was this at in 2011 when i was making beats in ableton
1500 views only? What?!
I'm certain he still prefers the mpc and sp because it gives the beat that warm punchy 12 bit sound.

Most modern machines have an "SP1200 mode" to emulate that old 12 bit sound.

he says raising the ram but its the volume offcourse :D guys we all make mistakes even da legends :D
