  • There is a lot of chatter in the martial arts community about what art is the best & most effective. But why not take the best of which ever styles you train to have the best self defense arsenal possible.

This is what mixed martial arts really means. This is what Ip Man and Bruce Lee have been trying to teach us for decades. Ip Man had he philosophy and Bruce Lee put it into practice and systematized it in a book, but this is the heart of MMA / Mixed Martial Arts. You gotta mix it up and not be stuck in one style or another. It's brilliant.

It’s funny how mixed martial arts nowadays translates to weak American variation Muay Thai, BJJ and flipping tires because *everything* else is McDojo 🙄

Those two didn't really needed to do that, people have done that for millennia.

One of the best videos I've seen on the topic of integrating boxing and wing chun. We need both skill sets. Boxers are so tough to deal with because they throw effective punch combinations and retract their punches so quickly.

I really like your channel. I think you're the closest thing stylistically on youtube to my own mix of wing chun and boxing. I really appreciate your applied, practical concepts.
Two comments on this video specifically...
One thing I like to do after I slip to the outside is to do a Tyson/peek-a-boo style hop to the outside. This both closes to trapping range and puts you all the way on the opponent's flank. From there you can go into the wing chun -- chain punch, elbows, oblique kick/stomp on the knee -- from a position of near total safety and maximum advantage. You can also continue circling to the back to choke.
Another thing I find on the boxing/wing chun mix is that the shovel hook is an incredibly useful punch for transitioning between the two styles because its in both styles in slightly different ways.

I wouldn't agree teaching Wing Chun and another art at the same time. Students need to figure out what works, but they need the base of the art.

Punches be flying until the trapping stuff comes in, why not continue to punch when trapping? Because it doesn’t work.

Hi, Kevin. Why you stay on the place? I know you understand)) But why you don't explain that in your video?

Not real Wing Tsun and not a real Boxer.
