what are you talking about, it was okay. It wasn't much of a role at all, he had a few screams, a few lines of dialogue. Hardly a challenging role at all. He has way more better roles, like adaptation, leaving las vegas, etc. etc. tons more in fact.
There is something going on in film today which I kind of refer to as "The Tyranny of Perfection", which is that on a craftsman level everything needs to be seen as utterly precise and perfect or seen as a failure. I kinda like rough edges on things you know? Sometimes I will just allow those to exist and I find those more beautiful in a way. ~ Panos Cosmatos SO much truth in this statement.
H.I. McDunnough Kubrick is to blame. But Kubrick did a lot of takes mainly cause he was never satisfied with what he got and he didn’t trust what he wanted initially.
Visionary director who doesn't think he's god, and knows he will makes mistakes, so f--- it, let's do the best we can. And he obviously can. Linus and Cage did their best. Hopefully Panos will get more chances to make similar movies, without any studio or producer interferences. This is what the guys at RLM talk about when they say indie movies are the last great movie worth seeing in cinemas.
2:00 to 4:03 Nic Cage perfectly explains the problem with the film Industry nowadays. I wish we get more films like Mandy where it just tries to be a movie without the intent of wanting to make a fortune and not having so many producers and companies getting too involve in the work that a director has a vision he wants to put on screen without anyone else meddling with it. And actors like Nic, love or hate him, is genuine. And after watching the Mandy, he totally does deserve an Oscar, same goes with the movie itself. Nic and the film not having the intent of wanting one has earned my respect even more!
I agree! Let the artists make their art, and not some suits in a conference room deciding if it’s worth viewing 💰 🤔 There a huge disconnect between art and financial profit.
We need more movies like this. Like Mandy, Upgrade, Hereditary etc. Not that expensive that they get smothered in focus group bullshit and pussyfooting around shocking motifs, but made with love and passion.
Mandy is pure brilliance! The Road Warriors meets Hellraiser meets Legend meets Suspiria meets The Crow, and starring Nicolas Cage. What more could you ask for?

Loved Mandy. And loved what Cage said about filmmaking, in that when you make a film without thinking about how well it will do in theaters or if anyone will like it that’s when you enjoy it most.
They did a great job with Mandy. It's a bit like John Wick meets David Lynch meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Lovecraft meets Hobo With A Shotgun. Not a bad combo!
Panos honestly reminds me of a young George R. R. Martin. In fact, I would love it if Panos directed GRRM's Sandkings, he would be perfect with all its crazy ideas and visuals. My god, now I made myself mad!!!! XD

Yes he does some cheesy movies and yes he is famous for his freakouts in films but he is a great actor and before Mandy I watched him in 8mm and it sold me on how good of an actor he really is.

i cant believe they got nic cage in this one. for a film like this made by an almost no name director this film would have been perfectly fine without nic cage but with him, he just bump the movie up to an 11.
